Windjammers is one of the best games ever made. Period. The problem is that playing against the CPU is just a waste of time. If you want to experience the real deal you should play against a human opponent, a good one if it is possible.
The CPU reads all your movements, so you have to play in a specific and restricted way in order to beat the game and still you will depend a lot on luck.
I use Scott because one of his curve shots usually tricks the CPU player, especially in big courts, which are lawn, clay, concrete and stadium. As you can see, they always fail when I serve the first time, so I only have to play defensively from that point on. I use other tactics in order to waste seconds or play more safely and avoid conceding points. For example, one good way is doing a drop shot, going near the net and then doing a lob to the opposite way.
There's no point in trying to play well against the computer, especially if you are looking for a gameplay like this. This was a difficult task to complete and I needed a lot of tries. You can use some of my tactics to beat the game in level 4, which will make the game a lot easier.
Anyway, I recommend you all downloading Fightcade, a wonderful gaming platform in which you can play Windjammers online against other players. Besides, you can play all Neo Geo and CPS-1, 2, 3 games there. You can download it here: http://www.fightcade.com
Moreover, you will find in Fightcade a great French Windjammers community and some Spanish and American players as well. They usually hold tournaments and you can find the best players in the world there. Here is the link for Windjammers France. There are lots of tutorials and useful information in different languages: http://windjammers.forumactif.org
I encourage you to play Windjammers online as it's one of the best competitive games ever made, if not the best one. It's fast, it's easy to learn and you depend on your skill and nothing else. I am waiting for you in Fightcade!

I decided to reupload this game again, because the old one was divided into three parts and with low quality.
In this gameplay I picked the Sub-Mariner because I think the character is hilarious. The four characters are more or less the same, but Namor has a very poor throw movement.
This time I changed to the US version. It's more difficult as life decreases faster. I also set the initial vitality to the minimum.
This arcade from Sega and released in 1991 can be considered one of the best Spider-Man retro games. Yes, the game can be quite repetitive, but it's really fun as there are many boss fights and a different style of game when it changes the view.
Graphics are pretty good although music is reused from the game Quartet (1986). This game could have been a lot better if they had included more movements, more regular enemies and more things to destroy in the scenarios.
Gameplay of The Last Mission for MSX2. Full walkthrough. Played with blueMSX. No tools, cheats, autofire, or save states were used.

Very interesting game developed by Spanish company Opera Soft. The game was released in 1987 for Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum, PC DOS (CGA), Amstrad PCW, MSX and MSX2, being the latter, the best one.
Extracted from the Wikipedia: "Following a robot rebellion, humans have fled the Earth for the planet Nova. They have sent the robot OR-CABE-3 back to Earth to obtain the secret defense plans of the enemy robot base. The player takes control of OR-CABE-3 as it attempts to escape the enemy base with the plans and board a spacecraft for Nova."
The game is a mixture of arcade, shooter and puzzle game. Although not as difficult as other games from that time, you have to know by heart the exact position of enemies in most screens. If you don't enter a screen from the right position, you will probably die immediately crashing into an enemy.
Most enemies move in a random way, this means that aiming for a no-death run is really difficult and luck-based. Anyway, I'm pretty satisfied with this run and I didn't want to repeat endlessly until achieving the no-death gamepaly.
This is one of the few examples in which a Western company did a good job on the MSX version of the game. In fact, it is the best version. Most companies simply ported games from the Spectrum version, which meant poor ports that didn't take advantage of the superior MSX hardware.
In conclusion, I really liked this challenge, original and fun game.
Gameplay of The Amazing Spider-Man 3: Invasion of the Spider-Slayers for the Gameboy. Game completed with 1 life. Played with Visualboy Advance. No tools, cheats, autofire, or save states were used.

Just another mediocre game developed by Bits Studios an based on the comic of the same name (The Invasion of the Spider-Slayers).
I decided to upload this game because there isn't any complete walkthrough of the game in Youtube. Although it's not technically a bad game, controls are horrible and difficulty can be frustrating.
I find it better than the previous game, but still worse than the first game developed by Rare.
There's no much I can say about the gameplay. I recommend getting all the items (the small floating balls), because some of them increase your power, making easier to beat some of the bosses. They also can grant you invulnerability, refill your health or give you an extra life.
The game can get difficult in some levels, due to bad controls. There are also many random things that can kill you.
In conclusion, just another mediocre superhero-based videogame that I enjoyed because it was difficult and had varied levels.
A rather obscure arcade game developed by Seibu Kaihatsu (Raiden saga, Dynamite Duke) and licensed to Taito in 1985. It is some kind of primitive beat'em up game with a mixture of platforms, set on a post-apocalyptic world similar to the Hokuto no Ken one.
You can punch, kick (not especially useful) and block if you press both buttons at the same time. You can jump if you press up in the d-pad. Your goal is to kill every enemy on screen before the time runs out.
There are 4 levels with 3 screens each, making a total of 12 screens (a full loop). There is a boss at the end of every level and a motorcycle stage (some kind of bonus stage) between levels.
The game can be regarded as quite hard the first time you play. Once you know how to defeat enemies without being hit too much (passing through them) the game gets easier. Anyway, beating a full loop without dying depends also on luck and can be really frustrating.
I don't know if the game is endless. The world record finishes the game 13 times, so I don't know if the game ends there or it continues endlessly. So if anyone knows this info please tell me.
Maybe is not a masterpiece, but I find Knuckle Joe a very addictive game and really enjoyable. It has many flaws, but it is a quite innovative game for 1985. In my opinion, you should try it :)

The Astyanax (The Lord of King in Japan, fantastic Engrish here) is an arcade game developed by Jaleco and inspired by Rastan. The game is set in a fantasy world populated by mythical creatures from Greek and Arab mythology. It consists of six stages: a forest, a cave, a lake, a lift, a castle and the final battle. Up to two players can play simultaneously with continues allowed at any moment. The first player controls Roche (a blond-haired warrior in blue armor), while the second player controls an unnamed palette swap of Roche in red armor with black hair. The controls consists of an eight-way joystick and three buttons for attacking, jumping or use a thunder attack that covers the whole screen. The player has four health points per life.
I think the game doesn't change when you set the difficulty on hard, but I'm not pretty sure about that. The game is no that hard once you know what to expect. Enemies don't respawn, the game is quite short, and you can earn a lot of extra lives. The most difficult part is that hall full of flames and those guys with chains in stage 5. I got hit on purpose by a bat just to take advantage of the invencibility period.
There was a port of this game to the NES, but it's totally different. I like it too, but I prefer the arcade version.
Anyway, this is a great game, with excellent graphics and music (stage 3 is gorgeous) and very enjoyable. You shouldn't miss it.
This is a classic game from Elite Games. It was released for Spectrum, C64, Atari ST, Amiga and Amstrad. In my opinion the best versions are the C64 and Amstrad ones, as the 16-bits ports don't take much advantage of the superior hardware. There's not much to add, so I'll copy the information from Moby Games:
This platform romp has similarities to Ghosts 'N Goblins, sending you on a journey to defeat the forces of evil. You start the game with nine lives, and you'll need them although there are only 3 (large) levels, each finishing with a boss. All manner of monsters block your path and must be attacked with your horizontally-travelling daggers. Additional weapons can be collected, as can bonus orbs, and the chance to summon a spirit to attack for you on the toughest sections.
In my opinion, this game is quite short and easy, but for the time it was ok, especially if you were young. Music was composed by the famous composer David Whittaker (Shadow of the Beast, Xenon, Speedball...etc.).
I know this game has mixed reviews, but I like it and I find it quite entertaining, so give it a try if you like simple arcade games.
Great and underrated Game Boy game developed and released by SunSoft in 1990.
Like many other games developed by this company, graphics and music are fantastic. The only problem of the game would we that is quite short, although it has a high difficulty for the average player (that would be children at the time).
The Nes version of Gremlins 2 is even better than this one. I recommend both of them. Then there's Gremlins 2 for Amstrad, MSX and Spectrum developed by the Spanish company Topo Soft. The C64, DOS, Amiga and Atari ST versions were developed by Elite Systems. These computer versions are not bad but I prefer the console ones. I would highlight Amiga and C64 versions, being technically good and quite challenging.
Cabal is a classic arcade game developed by TAD Corporation in 1988. This game was a great success and even popularized a sub-genre inside the shooter games (Cabal was not the first one, it was Cop-Out for Spectrum and Amstrad). The game was ported to Nes, Amstrad CPC, C64 (two different versions, being the European the good one), Spectrum, Atari ST, Amiga and DOS. In my opinion, the best version is the Nes one (developed by Rare), which has a very similar control to the arcade version. The Amiga one has very good graphics but controls are horrible.
There isn't much I can say about the game or the gameplay. A no-death run depends a lot on luck. So I tried a lot of times until I could achieve it. If the game wants you dead, you will die, that's for sure. Getting special weapons makes the difference between success or dying in some levels.
By the way, in the trackball version you can run, like in Nam-1975, which makes the game easier, although I'm not used to playing with a trackball.
Horrible game based in the worst RoboCop movie. Well, "based", the game was released a year before the film and most things don't even appear in the movie.
It is often regarded as a very difficult game, but once you learn what you have to do the game becomes a lot easier. The Megadrive port (developed by Flying Edge) is more or less the same but there are some minor differences. For example, you have a real options menu, graphics are less detailed, the game runs smoother, the flying stages are a lot better and more difficult too but side scrolling stages are easier. Megadrive version in hard is more or less as difficult as this game, but I found less gameplays of this version in Youtube.
It could have been a better game if they had added more and less repetitive stages and a more balanced difficulty.
This is probably one of the worst games ever made. It's based on a Spanish cartoon called La Corona Mágica (The Magic Crown). Gameplay is boring and repetitive, graphics are terrible for Amiga standards and the same for the sound.
I died several times and I had to continue as it's impossible to beat this game without dying or using continues (because it's terribly programmed) but I edited out those parts to make the gameplay shorter. I also shortened loading times.
This game is crap, but it was a request and I like to upload things that haven't been uploaded before. It was also released for Spectrum, Amstrad, Atari ST, PCW, DOS and MSX (although there's no dumped file of this version).
Please, avoid this. I'll upload better games soon.
Spinal Breakers is a not-bad Cabal clone developed by V-System (Aero Fighters) and released in 1990. There were no ports of this game.
The story of this game is a mixture of Blade Runner and Terminator. You must destroy some kind of robots that resemble humans called Hildroids. The story is nice for a rather obscure old action game. There are 3 endings, in this gameplay I show the good one, but the other two (which can be considered bad) are pretty good.
The game is pretty easy in its default difficulty, being more challenging in hardest. There is some kind of error with the dip switches, hard difficulty it's easy instead, and the other way around. Hardest and normal remain the same.
Most items are random but there are some fixed ones. I forgot to obtain a medkit at the end of the first level.
Anyway, it's not as good as Cabal, Blood Bros, Wild Guns or Nam-1975, but it's a decent game if you like this genre.
This is my first fighting game here in Youtube (I don't count Hippodrome as a "normal" fighting game). I'm not very good at this kind of games, but I used to play this one back in the arcades.
I'm not pretty sure if changing the level in this game affects the difficulty (it seems the game has the same difficulty in level 1 as in level 8). Anyway, I set it in level 8 just in case.
I chose Death Match Mode as it is more interesting than Normal Mode. I don't know if Kim Dragon is the best character or not, he is the one I used in the arcades. I haven't even practiced since then, I use the same movements and patterns of my childhood.
The game is quite easy using this character, and he has this combo I use all the time. However, the last boss is quite difficult and challenging. He is strong, fast and knows how to defend, so you depend also on luck. I don't know if there is a trick to defeat him, but I didn't find back then.
I hope you enjoy it.
Oh my god, this conversion is horrible and one of the worst ever made. No scroll, awful music and graphics, the collision detection is horrible and the most important thing: they didn't even bother to mirror the weapon sprites! Hahaha.
This port is not as difficult as the original, it's just random. There is no real strategy for beating the dragon-serpent boss, so I got killed once, but I don't mind as it depends on pure luck and randomness. Then I spent more time just to get the high-score and making the video a little bit longer. By the way, the game is endless, so one loop is enough for our health.
This is crap but someone has to upload it to Youtube :)
Average overhead-view vertically scrolling beat'em up developed by Capcom. It's not especially difficult or bad, but it's fun and simple.
There are some hidden doors with bonuses in all levels except the last one. I show some of them but there are others I didn't show because I could have died or the bonus were just useless points. The game has two loops, but they are the same. The second one is harder but it was already set on hardest so it couldn't get any harder. Anyway, I wasn't going to upload the same thing twice.
The game has two buttons and a especial kick that it's performed when you press both buttons at the same time, but the only useful attack is the normal kick. The hit collision is really awful and I think is your worst enemy in this game.
By the way, you have to rescue 6 random girls from a guy called Geshita. The girls appear in order of hotness. It's a normal thing, nobody would care about rescuing the other girls if the first one were the hottest.
Not Capcom's best, but still and enjoyable game.
Oh my god. Why Capcom? This is a real licensed game for DOS, and not some unofficial pirate game developed by a monkey. I don't like Mega Man games but I had to upload this game because is completely hilarious. Look at that Mega Man! He has eaten half of the robot masters!
The game was developed by Hi-Tech Expressions in association with Rozner Labs, and only released in the United States in 1990. There was a sequel released in 1992 called, ATTENTION, Mega Man 3. They didn't even know how to count!
Anyway, this game is crap. Bad graphics, no music, bad controls, short and hilarious enemies and robot masters. This is not the real speed of the game, but I thought this way the pain would last less.
Enjoy if you can.
Bizarre game from Data East, which is considered as a leading kuso-gē (crappy game) and baka-gē (stupidity game). Anyway, is not a bad game at all, and you can notice that all those strange things (bad controls, bugs..etc) are done in purpose. There are also many parodies to other Data East games, like the appereance of Karnov and Chelnov. There are also parodies to the game industry itself, with the enemy that turns into a graphic glitch, haha.
The major flaw is the roulette that appears after each level (change character, increase life, improve weapon or make it worse). Regarding this, you really depend on luck to complete this game with 1 credit.
By the way, I achieved a MARP record, but I don't really know how the score works in this game. Moreover, I wasn't looking for a high score, as I never play that way.
The game was re-released in 2007 as part of Oretachi gē-sen zoku, a series which ported arcade games from the 1980s and 90s to the PlayStation 2.
One of the first Simpsons games for the 16 bit. This game was quite a dissapointment for everyone, as it can be extremely frustating for children (the main target of this game at the time).
Anyway, I don't think this game is so bad. To start with graphics are nice, and it has several styles of gameplays ranging from platformer, to shooter and beat'em up. The problems is that almost all mini games feel quite dull and boring, being the only interesting ones the Bartman stage and maybe the Itchy and Scratchy one.
In the game you have to find 8 pages of Bart's homework divided into 6 stages (two of them belong to the Itchy and Scratchy mini game).
When I was young I had no clue of what I was supposed to do (and probably most children too).I remember that I used to enjoy the Bartman stage, but I hated the Indiana Jones one as I didn't understand it (I think that it's too complex for a 7 year old boy).
In this gameplay I obtained the best mark possible. In order to do so, you need to find the 8 pages and get a score over 125.000 points. And yes, you need to leech points because it's impossible to obtain them other way (unless you need to repeat several stages again).
I hope you like the gameplay of this so-hated game :)
Nice shooter/driving game from Data East released in 1986. It was also ported to Amstrad CPC, Spectrum, C64 and Nintendo Nes, being the latter, the best one.
More information from Wikipedia: Secret fighter plane PK430 has been stolen from your country, and it is up to you to get it back. You will drive a buggy equipped with a gun and "BreakThru" five different enemy strongholds. On your way you will encounter obstacles such as land mines, rocks, soldiers, jeeps, flamethrowers, tanks, trucks, armored vehicles, and helicopters.
Extra lives can be found, as well as a powerup that gives the player a temporary three-way cannon.
Upon completing the final level, after the ending sequence is shown, the player continues the game, but is prompted to select one of the levels to start at. The final win condition of this game is completing the final level a second time (no matter where he or she starts from). When this is accomplished, the game ends.
The game is not especially hard, as you can reduce speed and jump everytime you are about to being hit.
The enemys' bullets and movement speed have been set to high, although there is not much difference from default settings (low speed).
I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for watching.
A classic pre-CPS1 game from Capcom released in 1987. This is probably one of Capcom's hardest games along with Trojan and Gun.Smoke. Ghosts'n Goblins is a piece of cake compared to Tiger Road.
What makes this game so difficult is its randomness. You cannot really memorize what to do in every moment. Enemies are endless and there are no good strategies for most bosses. You rely on luck and skill.
You can select stage at the beginning (in the Japanese version this option is not activated by default), but it's almost impossible to beat the game if you don't start at the first or second stage, because you need all the power ups to make the last stage easy.
The Japanese version has two loops, but it's easier than the Western one. Beating the game without dying is pure luck. I could try a thousand times and not being able to do it again. Obviously, I can always beat the game with 1 credit, but the third stage is so difficult and random that you have to be very lucky to complete it without dying.
The game was ported to Amstrad, C64, Spectrum, Amiga, Atari ST and Pc Engine. The latter is a different game with different levels. Almost all ports are bad, maybe the best one is the C64 one.
To sum up, a very good game but probably too difficult. I hope you enjoy the gameplay :)
Extremely bad game from Spanish developer Proein. As many 8-bit kusoges, the game is incredibly short but quite difficult. It was also released for Amstrad and MSX.
You must save the Earth from some strange alien invasion or something like that. The game plays as the usual action game but becomes quite repetitive and boring from the very beginning. There are some items you can get: double fire, backfire, extra-life, killing everything on screen every time you push fire, and one item that kills you instantly (WTF?).
Well, I don't think you will enjoy this as it's some kind of game nightmare, haha. But it was a request and there are no gameplays on Youtube of this crap.
This is a kusoge that I knew thanks to Hardcore Gaming (wonderful site). It seems that is based on a popular manga in Japan. The game seems the usual platformer but is full of bizarre and strange things. Like Trio the Punch, it can be said that this is an intentional kusoge.
From Wikipedia: "Utsurun Desu. is a Japanese comic strip or manga created by Sensha Yoshida, which ran on Big Comic Spirits issued by Shogakukan from 1989 to 1994. This manga is deemed to be one of the works that initiated the "irrational" or "unreasonable" gag comic genre where the reason of its funniness cannot be explained by logic and traditional sense of humor, which made this title very popular among teens and early twenties at that time. One of the most popular characters that appeared in Uturun Desu was "the otter", Kawauso-kun".
Anyway, the game is not as bad as most kusoges. Technically is not bad. The main problem is that they should have added more jokes like the one in the first stage (jumping in the background in order to avoid the spikes).
I hope you enjoy it :)
One of the earliest Neo Geo games and quite bad in my opinion. It was released in 1991 by ADK (Alpha Denshi), the same developers from the World Heroes saga.
Graphics are nice, music is ok, but the game is quite orthodox and unplayable in some ways. The hit collision is really bad too. You need to memorize exactly how to deal some situations. I must say that this is a difficult game indeed.
You can pick up to 4 different characters. In my opinion the best is Musashi, but I play with all of them just to show how they are. Gembu is also a pretty good character but he has very short range.
Another thing is that this game is impossible to beat without dying. You will die at least once. The time in the last stage is not enough so it will always kill you. I wasn't killed by the time, but it restarted, so I could complete it.
And well, I didn't play on hardest because Neo Geo games don't allow you to record replay files with the default settings changed. Anyway, the game is more or less the same, the only difference is that most enemies will kill you with one single hit. If you take a look at this gameplay you will notice that I was killed once, and hit 3 different times. This means that I would have beaten the game if the game were in hardest (2 lives would have remained).
I hope you enjoy! :)
Oh God, this was hell. Virtual Bart can be considered, in some way, the sequel to Bart's Nightmare. It was also developed by Sculptured Software and released by Acclaim in 1994.
The gameplay is quite similar, being the game composed by different mini games, although this time there is no main world to access the diferent stages (only the roulette).
Like in the previous game, graphics are nice, but the music is quite bad, as well as the playability. Most mini games are quite lame and boring, being the "tomato throwing" stage, the only one I found entertaining (and is the simplest one).
The game is hard. Quite hard. And if you aim for a no-death run you depend a lot on luck, because there are many random things that make this quite difficult to achieve.
The roulette's tendency is random so you cannot really select the stage you want EXCEPT on the first try. I always choose the water slide stage (just push the button when Bart's head is facing the pig) because is the one that depends more on luck than skills.
There are more random things that I will explain in the captions, but even knowing the game by heart (as was my case), there are things that can kill you by just pure randomness.
You can also obtain a game over if you get out of tries in the roulette and you can't do nothing against it, because it is completely RANDOM. You can see in 22:15 that I lost one of my tries in the roulette, as it is explained in the captions: "I don't consider this as a death because it's totally random. You can't do anything against it. I was even lucky because this was the only time it happened in the whole gameplay".
I think that this is probably the hardest Simpsons game. The Megadrive/Genesis version is even worse, but it is faster and easier (the only stage that it's harder is the motorcycle level).
In general terms, a not very good game that is really difficult.
Classic Spanish game developed by Dinamic. This action game is quite fun and very famous in Spain. It was released in Amstrad, Spectrum, C64 and MSX.
From ZX Spectrum Reviews:
"Armed with your trusty sword Excamembert, your task is to go forth and redress the balance of time. This is why, four twentieth century elements have followed you through the time warp. These elements must be found and given to a Guardian who will return them to their real time. These elements are the Fire Which Does Not Burn, the Mirror of Wisdom, the Elixir of Life and finally - The Voice From The Other World.
There are four environments which you must cross before you can even contemplate returning to your own time. There's the forest, the lake, the caves and eventually the castle where King Arthur is waiting to meet you. At the end of each of these sections is one of the vital elements which must be returned to 1986. Once each object has been collected it must be delivered to the Guardian and his magic cauldron".
Oh god why. Sword of Sodan is probably one of the worst Megadrive/Genesis games ever made. It was released in 1990 by Electronic Arts and developed by Innerprise. The original game was released in 1988 by Discovery Software for the Commodore Amiga. The original is much better than this crappy port. It has better music and graphics and the levels are different too.
This game is a disaster, there is no music, controls are horrible and is really frustrating if you don't know what to do. Furthermore is quite repetitive and boring. This is the game you should buy for your children if you want to punish them.
The game is similar to Rastan in terms of gameplay. There are 4 different types of potions you can pick and combine to get different effects. I used during this gameplay the invencibility potion and the flame brand one. There are other good mixtures that provide you with extra lifes or make you skip the current level, but as this was a no-death complete walkthrough, I didn't use them.
The game is not especially difficult if you want to just complete it (you can skip difficult levels or get a lot of extra lives), but aiming for a no-death run is a different matter. You depend a lot on luck and the randomness of potions.
Both characters are quite similar, but the guy is stronger and the girl has longer range. In my opinion is harder to complete the game with the girl, especially because you need more hits to beat the giants and the last boss (making the fight more difficult).
Please, avoid this game if you enjoy your life.
Not a very good game based on the film Robocop 2. Why do I upload a game like this? Well, there are not many videos of this game on Youtube and it's not an easy game. I like to upload rare and/or difficult games.
The game was developed by Painting by Numbers and published by Ocean in 1991. Sprites are quite good, and the music is also nice (composed by Jonathan Dunn), but gameplay is simply crap.
The first game for the Game Boy was simply outstanding and the music was one of the best compositions ever made for a videogame. This sequel is pretty bad compared to the first game. The game was also released for Nes and C64. There are more RoboCop 2 games for other systems, but they are different games.
And well, the game is not easy for children, although not especially difficult. There are some things that kill you instantly, but besides that, the game is pretty straightforward. You have to arrest a minimum number of nuke smugglers in every stage in order to complete them. If you fail, you have to repeat the level all over again, so you must remember where these guys are.
Give it a try if you want. Not a very good game, but well, it's RoboCop!
Willow is a superb game from Capcom based on the famous fantasy film of the late 80s. This game is simply brilliant, everything is outstanding here. I'd say that is probably one of the best games from a film franchise ever released.
The game is quite similar to Warner/Pyros from Toaplan. It shares the same mechanics, even the shops to buy new items, but everything is improved.
I used to think that this game was quite hard back on the day, but after playing again recently, I discovered that the most important thing is knowing what to buy, more than having skill. You should always buy the weapon upgrades, which make the game a lot easier. The highest peak of difficulty can be found in the cart chase. After that the game gets again easy.
Capcom also released a Willow game for the Nes. The game is completely different from this one, and it's more similar to The Legend of Zelda. Anyway, the game is also great.
To sum up, I can only say that this game is fantastic and you should try it if you haven't done so far.
Superb port of a fantastic game. This one of Capcom's finest games. For a 1989 game this was quite a feat. Incredible graphics and playability and extremely innovative.
This port is awesome and although it hasn't the same graphics as the arcade version, the playability is the same. Moreover, this port is EVEN HARDER than the original one. That's because the robot helpers are not really "helpful" here, and you cannot hit as fast in the arcade. In my opinion, the arcade is a lot easier than this, even in the hardest difficulty setting.
Strider had ports in a lot of systems. The best (for the time) was the X68000 one, but it wasn't easy to have one of those in the West. The Pc Engine is also good, and it has some extra bonuses, like a full original stage. The closest to the original is the Playstation one that comes along with Strider 2 (a fantastic sequel).
There was a crappy non-official sequel developed by Tiertex, that was released for Megadrive, Amiga, Master System and some 8 bits computers. Avoid that game.
I hope you enjoy the gameplay of this incredible game ;)
Not too bad clone of Ghouls'n Ghosts for the Amiga. The graphics are nice and the controls are good too. The music of the intro is great. It's a pity that it's so short and easy.
This game is also called Prince Clumsy and was released for Spectrum, C64 and Atari ST. The Amiga version was released as a low-budget game.
Most items in the game are bad, that's why I avoid getting them. It's also better to run and avoid the monster than try to fight them. They are endless and hurt a lot if they touch you.
Anyway, this is just a curious game that I wanted to share with you :)
Really nice arcade game from TAD Corporation (also known for games like Cabal and Blood Brothers).
There were ports for Amiga, Atari ST, Lynx, C64, Nes and Megadrive. The Amiga and Atari ST were the best versions, and the Lynx was also a very good one. The Megadrive version was redesigned by Sega and was changed completely into a boring and crappy game.
The gameplay is set on hardest. The main difference is that enemies need more hits to be killed.
Vendetta is the sequel to Crime Fighters, a rather dull and mediocre beat'em-up. However, this second part is amazing. It has incredible graphics and music, and the gameplay is great.
You can choose between 4 different characters that are based on popular persons of the time: Mike Tyson, Hulk Hogan, Jean Claude Van Damme and Mr. T.
You have two different buttons, one for punches and the other one for kicks, so there's no jump button. Enemies don't have a life bar, making the game more realistic.
The gameplay of the game differs from the usual beat'em ups, being a more strategic game, as any enemy can kill you easily. You cannot simply start punching without stop every enemy, as they will counter attack you.
The game is set on Very Difficult, but it's more or less the same as in Norma difficulty. Boomer and Blood are the best characters. Sledge is probably the worst because his special moves are not as effective. By the way, the game is endless. The second loop is a little bit harder, but it only adds some extra enemies. I didn't want to play it too, as it would make the gameplay too long and boring.
There are tons of sets and versions of this game. I chose this one because there's no censorship (gay guys and dogs) and the text is written in English. I don't know the real differences between versions, besides 2 or 4 players and country differences.
The third game of the saga is called Violent Storm and it's probably one of the best beat'em ups ever made.
This game is a really good brawler and extremely fun. 4 players can play at the same time, it is not especially difficult and is full of funny elements. A must-play of this genre :)
Quite unknown Simpson's game for DOS. Graphics and music are impressive, but controls are a little bit unresponsive.
The game is quite similar to Bart's Nightmare. There are 6 stages (plus a last stage that appears once you have completed all of them) and you can choose any of them. Each one is different althought they share a similar gameplay, not like Bart's Nightmare.
This game is really hard in my opinion, but you can save any time you want and it's rather short, so it decreases the global difficulty of the game.
I'm playing in Hard mode, and I don't really know all the differences, but you can only carry 50 bullets. In Normal mode you can carry more.
I recommend doing the stages in the order I have chosen. It's not essential, but for example, you need the cap for the Space Mutants stage. Everytime you complete a set of 2 stages, you are rewarded with an item (sunglasses, cap and trainers).
I play with the alternate joystick mode, which makes the control a lot easier. With the regular joystick layout you have to push two buttons at the same time to shoot the secondary weapon.
It's a good game in my opinion, but the controls could have been improved. There are also too many random things, but it's probably the best Simpson's home system game of the time.
Mr. Goemon is the first game of the famous Ganbare Goemon/Legend of the Mystical Ninja series, based on Ishikawa Goemon, a famous 16th century outlaw. It was released in 1986 and it is a side scrolling platform game.
The game is pretty simple, as you must go from left to right avoiding enemies. You can jump pressing up, attack with the kiseru (the pipe he uses as weapon) using button 1, and throwing the objects you collect with button 2.
The game is full of Japanese folklore and it wasn't released outside Japan.
This game, although rather short, is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING and hard. The game reads your movements and if it wants you to die, you will die, trust me. Enemies are really annoying and will lead you to a certain death.
This is one of the best gameplays I could do in several weeks, and you can see that I just could finish one loop with no lives left. I must recgonize that is probably one of the hardest games I have ever uploaded in this channel.
By the way, the game is endless. I am playing on hardest, which means that the game on default difficulty is a lot easier, but still hard.
Not the best game in the series I must say, although is nice to see the origins of such a famous character as Ganbare Goemon.
No-commentary gameplay of Dynamite Duke. US Version. Arcade. Hardest difficulty (Very Difficult). Game completed with 1 credit. Played with MamePlus 0.134. No tools, cheats, autofire, re-recording or save states were used.
Dynamite Duke is a nice game from Seibu Kaihatsu, best known for their Raiden series of games. They also developed other shooters like Dead Angle or Empire City.
The game is a mixture of Cabal and beat 'em up. You shoot enemies with a crosshair, but you also have to defeat some of them in close combat. There is auto-scrolling which is a nice touch and makes the game less boring. There are three butons, one for shooting (which is semi-automatic), other for punching (if you keep it pressed you can release a bomb), and other for kicking. There are more movements that can be perfomed with different combinations of buttons, like a flying kick or an uppercut.
The game was released for Master System, Megadrive/Genesis and Sharp X68000. The Master System version is the worst one. The Megadrive version is not bad, but there are only 6 stages instead of 9, making the game too short, and the X68000 one is a perfect version of the game.
One thing I don't like about this game is dodging bullets, which can be quite hard to do, as it's difficult to move and shoot at the same time.
The game is not hard, even on hardest. After some gameplays you wil memorize where enemies are, making the game a lot easier. You can also use bombs (dynamite punch) in every difficult situation. I tried to use a minimum number of them (3). I think that only one is really essential for beating the game, and that is the one against the boss with a blue-masked guy surrounding him.
There is another version of this game called The Double Dynamites, which allows two players and there are minor differences with the original game.
Dynamite Duke is a good game, well-balanced and pretty original. There are not many games of this genre, so I realy recommend it if you like this kind of games.
I hope you enjoy it :)
No-commentary gameplay of Mercs / Senjou no Ookami II. US Version. Megadrive / Genesis. Original mode, hard difficulty. Played with Gens, no tools, cheats, autofire, re-recording or save states were used.
I already uploaded a gameplay from the arcade version of Mercs. This time I have tried the original mode exclusive for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis version. This a new mode includes new levels and the possibility of buying items and upgrades. You can control 5 different characters, each one carrying a different weapon and with their own speed and power levels. The characters/weapons are: Rifle, Burner, Launcher, Laser and Homing. The latter two are new for this version.
I must say that this is an incredible mode, even better than the arcade one. It's longer, more varied, more fun and has better replayability, with many hidden areas.
There's not much to say about the gameplay, but I mainly use Rifle and Laser for the bosses. I don't like Launcher because he is too slow and Laser is more powerful. Homing arrives too late and Burner can be useful in levels 2 and 3.
I show the strategies that are suitable for me. Maybe there are better ones but I didn't find them out. I also show all hidden areas or at least, most of them. If I had missed any of them, please tell me.
I hope you enjoy!
I hadn't played this game until the request, but as you can see, is an average shooting gallery game based on the movie of the same name.
The game is divided into 5 stages and some of them into 3 different sections. You have one button for shooting and a second button for using grenades. The grenades kill everything on the screen (civilians too) and they are also useful to pick up all the items on screen at that moment. If you shoot a civilian you will loss points.
The enemies drop items when you shoot them, these are: medical kits (to refill your life meter), grenades, flak jackets (they make you invulnerable for a few seconds) and new weapons (if you already have that weapon they will give you extra bullets). The new weapons shoot faster (they have auto-fire most of them) and can hold more bullets.
It's a little bit repetitive and simple, but it's quite fun. Not especially difficult but you have to get used to the mouse movement here, as it moves with some delay compared to new games.
