Johan ÖbergLast year I did a subtitled playthrough of surprisingly great visual novel Yukiwari no Hana. But I recorded with a DVD recorder that didn't take NTSC natively so I used a converter. All this resulted in sub-par video and audio, plus I did two parts. Now I've done it again but recorded with a PVR, and I've also looked over my translation in parts. This "movie" version only shows one route and one ending, the third ending "Yukiwarisou". The game has no canon ending, but this is the one I prefer.
The story is about a college student who lives next door to beautiful Kaori Sakuragi, only she's already taken. But when her boyfriend Takashi dies in a car crash and Kaori collapses with a resulting memory loss, the student takes it upon himself to take care of her. But when Kaori suddenly regains her memory but thinks he is her dead boyfriend, things get complicated...
Credit to Sugar & Rockets for making the YaruDora series, Production I.G for the animation and Sony for publishing. The ending theme is "Ghost Dance" and is sung by Yukari Iwamura.

Kenka Bancho, you might have looked at or played Kenka Bancho Badass Rumble on PSP, but that was only game 3 in a series with 6 numbered entries plus one with a subtitle, and 3 otome spinoffs. It's kind of like discount Yakuza with a Grease twist to it, but it's pretty fun and overall a series that more people should know about.Tiger & Bunny On Air Jack Episode 1(of 1) - English TranslationJohan Öberg2022-10-01 | There will not be an episode 2, because as it turns out, the game is kinda crap and I don't want to play it anymore haha! But also, the story is more or less just the anime, even down to copying lines verbatim, so if you want to follow that, watch the anime. It's too bad because I think Natsume developed the game, and they've had the Power Rangers license for a long time, so I was hoping for better. But alas, the missions/levels are all timed and the fixed camera is the enemy of gameplay. Still, since I completed this first level, might as well publish it?Seigi no Mikata (PS2) Episode 9 - English TranslationJohan Öberg2022-08-29 | Episode 9, the final episode!

Seigi no Mikata is a game for the Playstation 2 developed by Sony and released in 2002, only in Japan. It's presented as a tokusatsu show, each chapter of the game is called an episode and takes place in mostly real time. Like Cocoron(Famicom) you assemble your own hero from various parts and styles. It's also similar to Rent-A-Hero No.1 in how you play as a kid who gets a thing that turns him into a part-time hero. The battles are done in a RPG-card battle-kind of style where you enter your attacks, then the enemies enters theirs, then you see how you did. It's not a common system but at least Fate/Extra used something similar. It's a humorous game and it has even has a commercial break and viewer mail you can look at when the episode is over. To win you need to beat the enemies of course, but also maintain a certain number of ratings(remember, the game is a show) which mini-games on the side can help with.Seigi no Mikata (PS2) Episode 8 - English TranslationJohan Öberg2022-08-25 | Episode 8!

I translated the first episode here(there are 9 in total), I don't imagine I'll do any more though, so don't take the "episode 1" too seriously. Fun game though, I love weird obscurities like this that do something different.Microphone GamesJohan Öberg2022-02-15 | ...is this thing on? Nowadays microphones are a common acccessory in gaming, to speak with your fellow players during online matches and whatnot. There have been a few of these over the years, here are the ones I could find out about.Be careful! It's the Super Famicom port of the first game in the series of survival-strategy games. Your airplane crashes on an uninhabited(?) island and with the other survivors you come across you have to gather food and materials, build things and explore, with the goal of leaving the island, which is harder than it looks.
Note 1: I changed the timings of some lines because it was needed, so sometimes the "advance dialogue" sound effect will sound even though nothing is happening. Note 2: This is by no means a complete translation. There are events that I skipped or didn't find on my playthrough, and thanks to the different partner pairings you can do to each event, there's a lot of different dialogue to find. The longest event I skipped was finding the staff of atlantis(yeah) which was a lot of walking around a dungeon, and with not that much of a reward at the end. Note 3: I included 3 endings, one of the botched escapes(there are 5 or so more), the worst ending and the true ending. I didn't record the worst and true endings myself, I took them from japanese let's plays, the worst ending had commentary so I had to remove the sound and add music which of course meant that the sound effects also went away.

The Playstation consoles and handhelds have always favored plastic cases over cardboard boxes, and they've come in many shapes and sizes over the years. After doing research into their history, well let's say there's a lot there, more than just the fact that Suda 51 used to work there, something I learned when I did my FamiFun episode on The Firemen. But now I know a lot more, and I'll share that with you here. This video also happens to be one of my most ambitious ever, I've worked on it for months now and edited it for almost a week straight with only food and sleep breaks. I do hope you enjoy it. If I get one view per hour of work I put in, maybe I can sleep well.

This shows the best ending, and I've also translated the phone calls that were available... until May 1988. Of course the audio for those isn't available but text is. This is a light-hearted adventure game where the goal is to end up with Miho Nakayama, super idol of that time. The game is listed on her official website, so that's good, although she obviously values her being in movies, TV shows and recorded albums more. This game will never get a remake, so get your fill here!15 Times The Naked Gun Stole From ItselfJohan Öberg2021-04-05 | In 1982 Zucker, Abrahams and Zucker produced the TV series "Police Squad", in color no less. In 1988, 91 and 94 they made three Naked Gun movies. They stole jokes from their own show and used them in the movies on occasion. Extra notes: The actress in #1 is awful. The one from the show, not the movie, she was good in Goodfellas. In #10 it kind of looks like they used the same actress for that joke? I wonder. In #14, that's Weird Al Yankovic. He's in all three movies! He was a big fan of Top Secret which came earlier.FamiFun #91 - MajuuouJohan Öberg2021-03-05 | Majuuou(not Majyuuou) is the Doom of sidescrolling action games, at least when it comes to Super Famicom, and it's a rare sight on the platform.FamiFun #90 - Gekisou Sentai Car RangersJohan Öberg2021-03-03 | SuFami Turbo was a Aladdin Deck Enhancer-esque accessory for Super Famicom with two game slots that could trade data with each other. Sure that's a title that just comes on every game when you're the head of a company or division, but still that's a name you wouldn't expect to see on games like these, where video clips of a buxom japanese photo model has a kind of rhythm game placed on top of it, and some minigames added on for good measure.FamiFun #82 - Ganbare Goemon 3Johan Öberg2020-12-27 | FamiFun #82 - Ganbare Goemon 3 (Shishijuurokubei Karakuri Manjigatame) My favorite of all the Goemon/Mystical Ninja(he's not a ninja though...) games. A game I doubt you've heard of before, but one that of course has it's own series and everything over in Japan. The title means Uninhabited Island Story with the the subtitle Survival Life Adventure. It plays a little like a Koei strategy game with exploration and a bit of visual novel in there too. You play as people stranded on a tropical island trying to survive and eventually escape. It's a different one.
