Fractal Zoom VJ Mix 1999 Richard Herrero 2012-10-20 | Optic Alchemy (Ian Medley and myself) started vjaying in the last millennium.We put together multi-layered collages using collected images and video clips to use as video backdrops then we'd these mix up with other synch-sound stuff as live projections to go with whatever the DJs or bands were playing.These are all the fractal zooms I made in 1999 starting with a DOS program called Fractint to generate the zooms frame by frame then using Adobe Premiere to add effects.The first 2 zooms are from the most famous fractal, Mandelbrot, the next is from the well know Julia set (which is actually the mandelbrot viewed from another dimensional plane), the fourth is a less common fractal discovered by Lyapunov and the last three are all variations on the Julia set discovered by a mathemetitian called Barnsley.Some of them took weeks to generate!Each starts with the pure zooms, in then back out, then various effects are added: mirroring, spin motions and overlapping blending layers.There was soundtrack so I've added some early unreleased tracks by Celt Islam from around 2005(Freq Nomad, Invasion, Dubbz, Khip, Salaam, The Job and Stalaag17 Dubb)Before anyone comments that this stuff looks a bit low-res and dated please note that the original videos were was made on old PCs with something like 0.4GHz processors!

Shows every issue of 2000AD weekly comic and alongside them related publications and products. Devoted fans will see that this is a far from comprehensive collection of everything two-thy, but it does include the main stuff, which is everything from my covers vids: All the Annuals, Specials, Judge Dredd Megazines, Starlords, Tornados, Crisis, Revolvers. I've also added: Warrior from 1982-85, the first 'Best of' monthlies from 1985-88, the first vol of Dredd Eagle/Quality 1983-86, the first vol of 2000AD Eagle 1985 (look out for No.1, April to compare to the last Prog 1771), all the regular Zarjaz fanzines 2001-2011, the first 3 Titan book reprints 1981-82, the crossovers with Batman 1991-99, Predator 1997 and Lobo 1995. the first and some other early free gifts and some early fanzines. Look out for : the rare Dredd & Death candles -1982, the rarer or no longer existing first T-shirts - 1977 the space quiz book - 1980 free bubble gum! (Progs 232 & 265) the limited edition 2000 diary - 1999 the first official webpage - 2001 the Robert Harrop statues from - 2002. And watch out for the gaps caused by industrial action (or was it the Dictators of Zrag?) in the early 80's -- it's not an error in the video! Action, Starlord, Tornado covers (2000AD) Richard Herrero 2012-02-19 | All the covers of 2000AD's long lost siblings. Action is seen as 2000AD's precursor and ran for 36 issues from February to October 1976 (unpublished issues 37 - 41 also included). Pat Mills was planning 2000AD and putting together the dummy Prog 0 as Action ran. Starlord ran for 22 issues from May to July 1978 before merging with 2000AD at Prog 86. Tornado ran for 22 issues from March to August 1979 before merging with 2000AD at Prog 127. The corresponding 2000AD Progs are included here to show how these comics fit into the 2000AD timeline. Total Solar Eclipse, St Agnes, Cornwall, UK, 1999 Richard Herrero 2011-11-13 | I went to Cornwall in August 1999 to stand in the shadow of The Moon. I was lent an old VHS-C camcorder. The quality is poor, there is no spectacular close-up footage of the eclipse and also I was concentrating more on being there to experience the eclipse so the filming was secondary. However I did keep the camera running continuously as the eclipse approached and this does capture the atmosphere of the event quite well. A nice reminder if you were there or a taste of what it was like if you weren't. I also filmed the sunrise and sunset that day and a few fireworks that my friend brought and set off on St Aggie's cliffs that night. We got very lucky with our chosen sight. After a colourful sunrise the sun did not show itself again until minutes before the eclipse. We then got a downpour of rain just minutes after the eclipse and the sun did not come back out until sunset, which was spectacular. An awesome, magical, unforgettable experience of a lifetime.

Catwalk Fashion Richard Herrero 2011-10-09 | 3,240 catwalk photos slideshown at 15 photos per second. Back at the turn of the millenium Amanda was looking at her favourite fashion designers' collections. I thought they'd look good as a fast slideshow animation for use at Optic Alchemy gigs so I asked her to save them for me. I ended up with over 3000. I made a video out of the first 1000 (see Astralasia Whirlpool on my channel) but the rest were never used, so here's all of them strung together into a vid for the first time. Nine Invisibles - Soundbombing Richard Herrero 2011-04-10 | This was mixed live on 10/09/1999. Basically Ian Medley and I set up all our vj equipement at home that we would normally use at gigs and clubs, put on the 'not-quite-finished' version of "Nine Invisibles" "Soundbombing" CD that Mick Reed (drummer and writer) had just given us which we had not yet heard and jammed live to it. The results were recorded onto VHS, so quality is not fantastic. I've brightened it up and added titles. Equipment: 2 VCRs with pre-made (Mostly by Ian) mix tapes, 2 PCs full of images, video clips and various synch-sound pattern generators fed into a Panasonic MX50 vision mixer. Nine Invisibles - Cinematic Richard Herrero 2011-04-09 | This video was made by mixing live footage of the band with artwork that was designed for the Soundbombing album. Most of the artwork was not used, but the little 'tribman' that I animated did make it onto the CD design. Can't remember exactly when this was filmed/made, but was around 1999-2000 and the gig was at 'Abrahams' in Huddersfield
