There have been now 400 anti-LGBTQ+ bills introduced in the US as of the day this was posted. Many trans people are becoming refugees in their own country, seeking medical care and freedom from discriminatory policies in sanctuary states. It's time to take action now!
If you are an ally interested in taking action, check out the resources for allies posted to my instagram page from trans folks around the country: instagram.com/salandersays

IG: @gagesalanderComing Out was Traumatic | Effects of Family Rejection and High Stress 1.5 Years LaterSalander Says2021-02-24 | This is long overdue. Recently, I've begun to realize how much trauma around coming out and being rejected has changed the way I function (or has possibly exacerbated existing conditions), and I wanted to talk about it. I've felt a lot of pressure to not talk about what happened anymore and to sweep it under the rug the way others have, but I don't want to do that. So let's do the opposite.
A note: As it is difficult to pinpoint a date of when this all started, I settled for 1.5 years, since that marks the times since the worst of my coming out.
Trauma (noun): the response to a deeply distressing or disturbing event that overwhelms an individual’s ability to cope, causes feelings of helplessness, diminishes their sense of self and their ability to feel a full range of emotions and experiences. Source: Integratedlistening.com
