Just over a year ago Aliyev the President of Azerbaijan ordered a full scale invasion of Artsakh known as Nagorno – Karabakh, forcing over 100,000 ethnic Armenians to flee their ancient homeland. The world has turned a blind eye to the ethnic cleansing and war crimes committed by the Azeri forces.
As the regime of Azerbaijan hosts the prestigious COP29 UN Conference on Climate Change next month it uses its wealth generated from its oil and natural gas to whitewash its crimes against humanity. Armenian political prisoners are being imprisoned by the regime and without the International Red Cross being given access to them to check on their welfare.
It time for the International Community to confront the crimes committed by the Azeri regime and protect the Christian nation of Armenia from the prospect of invasion.
The past three months of this Labour government have been plagued by sleaze scandals over undeclared freebies from Lord Ali, race riots, mass release of dangerous prisoners and a power struggle at the heart of the government machine.
There is also great uncertainty over the economy with talk of tax increases to fill an alleged £20 billion black hole in the government’s finances.
On foreign policy we have seen this government become increasingly hostile against Israel and drawing closer to the EU.
He gives disturbing evidence of the UN’s complicity in the worst terrorist atrocity committed in Israel's history after reporting that four hundred and fifty workers employed by the United Nations Work’s Relief Agency UNWRA were terrorists belonging to Hamas.
The UN rather than providing humanitarian aid and assistance to the residents of Gaza has instead embedded itself within Hamas and other Palestinian terror organisation in their terror war against Israel.

In 1 Corinthians 12:12 he writes: Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. In Colossians he also states that Jesus is the head of the body.
What does this all mean? And how does it look practically? Join Nikki & Adi on this episode of Living The Word as they look at the purpose and gifts each of us have been given by God and how they work together and in unity to be The Body of Christ.
Psalm 53 is a revised version of Psalm 14, the repetition emphasising the importance of its truths. One difference is that in Psalm 53 Elohim replaces Yahweh repeatedly. Psalm 14, written by David, was adapted later by Hezekiah, as a response to God’s judgment of Sennacherib’s armies. “To the Chief Musician. Set to “Mahalath” (‘on a disease’). Ps 53 reveals man’s universal depravity, the disease of sin (Isa 53:6); Isaiah 53 reveals its cure. “A Contemplation (Maschil, instruction) of David.” This means it is a Wisdom Psalm. It reveals both the nature of man’s sin and the hope of God’s salvation and how man can be saved. It begins by describing the sad condition of the man who rejects God (v1). v1a: “The FOOL has SAID (purposed) in his HEART (will): “There is NO GOD.” It is literally: “NO! God.” Thus, it’s not just talking about atheists, who foolishly deny God’s existence, despite the evidence (Ro 1:19-20), but include those who say: "No God for me." They reject the presence, voice & rule of God in their heart, as so they can be their own god. In his heart he wishes God away. They are moral rather than intellectual fools. God put the knowledge of the truth of God in their heart, but they suppress His voice (Ro 1:18,21,25, 2:15). Sin starts by rejecting God, choosing darkness rather than light (pride, John 3:19-20). How foolish to reject God, their Creator, the source of all goodness, love & light in their inner being! This is a choice made in his heart (will), not just ‘thought’ but ‘said’, affirming a wilful choice to reject God, to deny His Presence, claims, right to rule, and even His existence. ‘No, I don’t want you, God, leave me alone, I want to be my own god.’ By using Elohim is also carries the meaning: ‘No Judge.’ so, he chooses to believe the lie that God will not hold him accountable and judge him (the original lie in the Garden). This is the origin of sin, turn our back on God, summarised in v3a. Then this results in corruption in character & lifestyle (v1-4). As a result of their original sin of pride, turning away from the Source of all goodness & light, their foolish hearts become full of darkness (Ro 1:21), and corruption: “They are corrupt” (v1b). Having rejected their God-given moral compass (conscience), which pointed to God, they lose their sense of right & wrong, and worship created things instead of the Creator (Ro 1:23,25), and in time they even call good things evil, and evil things good (Ro 1:32, Isa 5:20), so that they become moral fools, lacking sensitivity and insight of right and wrong (Ro 1:22). Thus, he is a fool (1) to turn away from God, and also (2) saying 'No' to God makes him into a fool - his corrupted inner moral being is then manifested in foolish thoughts, decisions & life. he becomes a practical atheist, living as if there was no God. He is also foolish, as he will end up in Hell. The opposite of folly is wisdom: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Ps 111:10). This too has a double meaning: (1) wisdom begins by turning to God in fear (submission), then as a result (2) wisdom flows to you from the God of wisdom. This inner corruption (v1b) is then manifested in their lifestyle: "They have done abominable iniquity (their ways are vile, evil actions expressing their sin-nature, the bad fruit of a bad tree - sins of commission). There is none who does good (sins of omission)” (v1c, Ro 1:24-31). This last phrase introduces a twist, confirmed in v2-3. We thought the fool (v1a) was a particular kind of man, but now God declares this describes all mankind in our fallen state (depravity), for without Christ’s saving grace, we are all lost in darkness under the power of sin. He did not mean there is no human good in this world, but that all men are fallen and does not by instinct do good, and even the good he does is tainted by sin and selfish motives.
v2: “God looks down from Heaven upon the children of men to see if there are any who understand (that there is a God, who created him and wants a relationship with him, to whom he is accountable), who seek God (to know Him).” This affirms the fool is wrong to think God is disinterested and will not judge him. God coming down to investigate mankind is reminiscent of His judgments at the Flood, Babel and Sodom & Gomorrah. While man may wish to forget God, He never forgets man. He is always observing us. In man’s rejection of God, he wishes God would leave him alone, which is foolish, as all human life depends on God (Acts 17:28, Matt 5:45), and impossible as God has the rights of a Creator over His creation, but in Hell the fool will get his wish, by being separated from His goodness forever. So, in v2, God is searching to see if anyone is saying 'Yes, God!' But His conclusion from this search confirms the truth of v1, for God gives the results of His investigation in v3a: ....

The Scottish government last month introduced new authoritarian legislation against Christians that will impose a two hundred meter buffer zone around abortion clinics. Failure to comply with this legislation will result in a criminal record and a £10,000 fine.
What does this mean for our democratic freedoms including freedom of religion and conscience as the abortion lobby seek to silence the pro-lifers at all cost?
This technology will scan our faces to help confirm medical records to GP’s and hospital staff and it will be used for security in schools, shops and public transport. This smart tech market is believed to worth £15 billion by 2032.

Psalm 52 is a Wisdom Psalm that teaches us how to respond to tragedy, by keeping our hope in God. It describes a powerful man given over to evil (like antichrist), and his total final eternal destruction. He is compared to a righteous man, who trusts in God’s love and will flourish forever like a fruitful tree in God’s Presence (an illustration of Psalm 1). “To the Chief Musician. A Contemplation (Maschil = Instruction, a Wisdom Psalm) of David, when Doeg the Edomite went and told Saul, and said to him: “David has gone to the house of Ahimelech.” The title gives us the historical setting. David and his priestly friends had just suffered greatly at the hands of this evil man (Doeg), and Ps 52 is his response, in which he is not overwhelmed, but maintains his hope in God and announces God’s judgment against the evil man. He focuses on the future of the wicked v the righteous. The terrible events that prompted this Psalm are in 1Samuel 21-22. Doeg informed Saul regarding David’s presence at the Tabernacle and regarding the help he received from the priest there. In an evil paranoid response, Saul had Doeg kill all he priests & their families (1Sam 22:18-19). David’s condemnation of Doeg is strong, because of the mass-murder he initiated with his tongue and the committed. It reveals the root and fruit of Doeg’s evil, and its consequences for him. This took place in the early days of his fleeing from Saul, who had tried to kill David in jealousy (knowing he was his replacement), so Saul’s changed attitude to David was not generally known (even Jonathan was unaware), until 1Sam 20. In 1Sam 21, David in a panic unwisely went to Nob, the location of the Tabernacle and Priesthood, to ask help from Ahimelech the high priest (v1). David lied to him (v2), so he didn’t know he was a fugitive. David asked & received the showbread (v3-6), claiming his men hadn’t slept with their wives for 3 days (Ex 19:10-15). Jesus referred to this story in Matt 12:1-8, as an example of the moral law trumping the ceremonial. But Doeg, a servant of Saul, was there and witnessed this, having been ‘detained before the Lord’ which perhaps made him bitter against the priests (v7). David also took Goliath’s sword (v8-9), and then fled to Gath, Goliath’s hometown (which shows he was thinking straight), where he had to play the madman (v10-15), before gathering 400 men at Cave of Adullam (22:1-4); then they went to Judah (v5). Then Saul heard where David was (v6), and offered money, land & positions, to any who showed their loyalty to him by giving info about what David was doing (v7-8). Then Doeg gave a twisted report of David’s visit to Nob (v9-10), making it look like the priest was conspiring with David against Saul, by not reporting their conversation, which proved his innocence, and adding a lie, saying: “he inquired of the Lord for him” (v10). As a result, Saul called for Ahimelech and all the priests to come to him (v11). He accused them of being traitors (v12-13), which Ahimelech rightly denied, especially the lie that he had inquired of the Lord for David, claiming he know nothing about the situation (v14-15). But paranoid Saul sentenced them all to death (v16, see 1Sam 2:27-34, 3:11-14). When the guards refused to kill the 85 priests (v17), Doeg did it to curry more favour with the king (v18). Then he went and killed everyone else in Nob, hundreds of men, women & children (v19). Only Abiathar, son of Ahimelech escaped and fled to David at Keilah (23:5), and told him what had happened (v20-21). David then admits responsibility for his foolish part in this tragedy (v22), and invites Abiathar to stay under his protection (v23). This is the setting for this Psalm after David hears this terrible news of the mass murder of the innocent priesthood & families, all brought about by Doeg’s malicious evil. In it, he describes his trust & hope in God.
The Psalm is in 3 Parts, (1) addressing ‘you’ (Doeg) in v1-4, then describing (2) God’s response (v5-7), then (3) David himself (v8-9). *Part 1 (v1-4) describes the man who loves lying and evil. v1a: “Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man (tyrant)?” ‘Boast’ conveys his smug arrogance at being so clever at manipulating the situation, resulting in him gaining great prosperity & position by his malice and evil acts. He carves out his career by slander, intrigue and murder. ‘Mighty man’ refletcs his new status as Saul’s strongman, but is also ironic: “You mighty man, killing all those unarmed defenceless priests, women & children, protected by Saul’s guards!” Then David reveals why he has chosen foolishly and why his way will fail: “The goodness (covenant love) of God (El) endures continually” (v1b). He chose temporal gain over eternal life enjoying God’s everlasting love for His people, which will outlast his evil. Doeg’s temporal might was as nothing compared to God’s (El emphasizes His strength)....

This week they discussed how today is the 7th October 2024, One year ago since terrorists from Gaza attacked Israeli communities, killing 1,165 people and taking 251 hostages in the worst massacre of Jewish people since the Holocaust. One year ago at 6:29am, Hamas terrorists breached the fence into Israel. They murdered innocent civilians in Israeli settlements. They tried to break down safe room doors where parents were huddled with their wide-eyed children. Some terrorists threw grenades inside and laughed. Others set the occupied homes aflame and then left. A baby was murdered in an oven. At the Supernova Music Festival, Hamas Terrorists used their machine guns on defenceless concertgoers, killing 364 civilians. Women were raped, prisoners were tortured, and before the attack ended, 1,180 people were killed. Tragically, 251 human beings, men, women, and children were dragged into the underground tunnel network in Gaza. Their loved ones fear they may never return. Together with our Jewish brethren, we pray believing that what Hamas meant for evil, The Lord will turn to good. Today, Antisemitism across the globe is on the rise more than ever. That’s why we feel it is so vitally important for the entire world to know that virtually every Christian whether at home or abroad is crying out for justice and peace in Israel, and for the Israeli Hostages to come home alive now.

Next week will mark a year since Hamas unleashed the biggest mass terror attack on Israel in its history, where they murdered 1,200 Israelis and foreign nationals in cold blood. This included 36 children, many were raped and tortured and over 3400 were injured. Hamas took some 251 hostages back to Gaza, 8 have been rescued by the IDF, 109 were released in a prisoner exchange and the rest are still in captivity or dead.
In the past year the nation of Israel has had to face a multi-front war instigated by the Iranian regime, who this week fired two hundred ballistic missiles at Israel’s population centres. Now we are waiting for the IDF response to the Iran’s unprecedented aggression.
This week the Iranian regime took the unprecedented action of firing two hundred ballistic missile at Israel, targeting their population centres but thankfully there were no causalities or injuries. We saw God’s hand of protection over the nation and our Prime Minister Kier Starmer announced British solidarity with Israel and condemned the Iranian regime for its act of aggression.
Is the British government being too faced? with one hand showing support for Israel against Iranian aggression and the other withholding vital arms sales to the Jewish state?
What is next? Does this signify a new era for Israel and the Middle East?
Psalm 51 is a model of true repentance, which includes fully turning from the sin and hating it, and turning to God and confessing it to Him (be open with Him, for He knows all about it anyway), and trusting in His mercy, ask in faith for His forgiveness & cleansing from the stain of that sin, and for Him to fill us with His Holy Spirit, and give us a clean heart, so that we are transformed inwardly in holiness (set apart to God, and set apart from sin), so we don’t sin again (v1-12). A true repentance results in a transformed heart (will), which desires to serve God, which in turn leads to a transformed life, as described in the final section of Ps 51 (v13-19): “bear fruits (works) worthy of repentance” (Matt 3:8, Luke 3:8). Having repented, David declares he will now serve God with all his heart (v13-19), which also helps to prevent a relapse into sin, for if we are passive, rather than actively doing His will, we will fall into temptation. Transformation is from selfish sinning to selfless service from the heart. As He changes our heart, we will live a life that pleases Him. His true repentance is seen by his desire to serve God and to glorify God.
*1. Evangelism: “Then (when he has a cleansed, transformed heart) I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted to You” (v13). He promises to uses his own experience to testify to and teach others, which is what he does in Psalm 51 (& 32). Rather than keeping his son private (between him and Nathan), he teaches us the nature (ways) of God and how to repent, and God has used this Psalm to help many millions return to Him (Rom 8:28). This verse also teaches we must be in fellowship with God for effectual ministry.
*2. Praise: “Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed (‘bloods’, his bloody deeds, the murder of Uriah), O God, the God of my salvation.O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall show forth Your PRAISE, and my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness” (v14-15). Knowing he deserved the death sentence, he threw himself on God’s mercy, confident in his deliverance. When he hid his sin for a year, living under conviction, his mouth had been closed (Ps 32:3-4), neither in confession, nor praise, but now in gratitude for his salvation, he is willing to declare God’s praise, and asks for God’s Spirit to help him do this. God’s saving mercies are a basis for a life of thanksgiving & praise (Luke 7:47). As well as generally praising God’s righteous nature & acts, David also specifically thanks God for His gift of imputed righteousness, which he understood was the basis for his salvation, as is clear from Ps 32:1-2, quoted in Romans 4:5-8 to establish the doctrine of imputed righteousness and justification by faith. He also was thanking God for His salvation (imparted righteousness) by the Holy Spirit. “For You do not desire sacrifice (for sin), or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering” (v16). Animal sacrifices (mere outward acts) are not a substitute for true repentance, or for the submission & offering of the heart that results in obedience. This is a major theme of Ps 50, which forms part of background to Ps 51. “The sacrifices of (pleasing to) God are (from) a broken spirit (a spirit broken of all pride and rebellion against God, v8), a broken and a contrite (repentant, chastened) heart (that’s humbly received correction), these, O God, You will not despise” (v17). God wants sacrifices of good (obedient) works, thanksgiving & praise that come from a humble heart, submitted heart, broken of all pride, self-righteousness and self-assertion, which knows its total dependence on God and His mercy & grace. (Isa 57:15, 66:2, Matt 5:3). David’s experience of sin destroyed his self-confidence & self-reliance, so he now offers himself to God, as one with no righteousness of his own. Thus, these sacrifices spring from thanksgiving for what God has done in His grace to restore our soul to fellowship with Him. God primarily wants sacrifices of praise & thanksgiving from a grateful heart (v15, Ps 50:14,23).
*3. Intercession. Next, he prays for the restoration of the nation: “Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion; build the walls of Jerusalem” (v18). God’s people are all joined as one, so our sin affects the whole community, especially its leaders, who are examples. His sin had compromised, cursed & weakened the Kingdom, so he prayed for its restoration, spiritually and naturally. Now he is forgiven, God can now use him in intercession for the nation. Likewise, we are to work to build up the Church physically, and edify the spiritual life of God’s people, resulting in spiritual revival (v19). *4. Corporate Worship and Sacrificial Giving. “Then (as a result of God’s outpoured grace in answer to prayer), You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness (made in obedience, by one made right with God)....

This week they discussed how in the mid-fourteenth century John Wycliffe, who was a dean at Oxford University. At that time the Catholic Church used Latin for the services and used the Latin Bible. It was basically a good translation but few people, including many of the priests knew Latin well. The Church was a series of rituals and ceremonies which most people did out of duty. The gospel was there but often lost under layers of tradition, complications and superstitions, mixed up with politics. Instead John Wycliffe emphasised personal faith and a simpler form of religion. Wycliffe was himself a priest who wanted to see the Church radically reformed, and he believed that they should use English instead of Latin. His quarrel was not with faith itself. He was a strong Christian who emphasised personal faith based upon the Bible, but he was opposed to the errors of man-made organised religion. Many people supported Wycliffe's ideas which spread across England. Some people became itinerant preachers. They went in pairs to towns and villages, telling people the good news from the gospel about Jesus, and doing so in English. Pastor Derek gave his thoughts and answered many Live Viewer questions during the 1 Hour Live Question and Answers Programme.

Lord Jesus commended the church for keeping the faith, despite intense persecution, but he did warn those who compromise, to repent and turn back to Him.
There is power, purpose and importance in Christian brothers and sisters meeting together in order to support, teach, encourage and pray for one another. But Is it a Necessity for Christians to go to Church? Can church be anywhere? Does church have to be on a Sunday?
In this episode of Living The Word Nikki & Adi discuss these questions, the concept of Church and if it is important for us to attend regularly.
Since the horrors of October 7th the attacks against Israel and the Jewish community have been unprecedented. The enemies of Israel are trying hard to cancel and demonise both the state of Israel and the Jewish community worldwide. Lawfare has been deployed as a strategic weapon to weaken Israel’s ability to defend herself against Islamic terror attacks and erode her moral standing in the world.
This is clearly evident in the new Labour government’s decision to ban arms export licences to Israel. Also as the Jewish state is fighting a war for its survival and The British government has made the sickening decision to drop their opposition to the International Criminal Court from prosecuting the Israeli Prime Minister and Defence Minister for alleged war crimes.
Mysteriously Hezbollah’s communication systems were sabotaged when their pagers blew up killing twenty three and injuring over four thousand suspected terrorists. The next day their terror organisation was delt another deadly blow when their walkie-talkies exploded killing and injuring more operatives. This was followed by the Israeli Air Force taking out one hundred and fifty missile launch sites in Southern Lebanon. Subsequently Ibrahim Aqil the head of Hezbollah military operations was assassinated with many top commanders.
The Israeli government believe the leadership of Hezbollah were planning to carry out an October the 7th style terror attack against Israel, so are we witnessing the wrath of God being directed against Hezbollah to prevent this?
