Recently, I saw a video on new medical beds that slowly lowers the head of the bed in case of a code. I wondered what would happen if the bed either malfunctioned or lowered the bed too slowly. That's how this video started.

I watched Spider-Man: No Way Home again last night and got inspired again to work on my webbing techniques. One thing I love that Spider-Man does is how he shoots web balls and sticks a guy to the wall.

So I tried doing that with some Play-Doh.

Each attempt got a little better, I think. I'm going to keep working on it... sure, it's a painstaking process but I like the result. I think it'd come in handy for future Spider-Man videos!

I haven't made a fight scene in a while. What started as a mere exercise turned into something more. I focused a lot on the power of the punches, wanting them to be convincing so that the viewer felt the punches themselves. I think in part 2 I'm going to give them some weapons! Take it up a notch!

Choreography is always a challenge with fight scenes. I hope I made this believable!

LEGO Captain America Shield Tests

I've started to work on my Captain America shield techniques and I must admit it's a challenge. Putting the shield on the back wasn't too difficult, but getitng the right body motion was. Cap can't just lift the shield without using his torso, so I tried to incorporate that into the motion. I think the 3rd attempt was best. The second one had too much shield shake at the end.

Then I moved onto Captain America throwing the shield. I knew this would be the most challenging part. I think the hardest thing was to make the shield look like it would go in the trajectory his arm dictates.

The second attempt (with the masking) was sloppy, but I pushed myself to see if I could do it and it came out okay. Could be so much better.

Hope you enjoyed these test clips. I love what others have done with Captain America's shield (JurassicBrickProductions, Caste Cyclops, Edbound, and of course Forrestfire101) so I'm determined to get this looking right!

After working two 12-hour shifts this weekend, I wanted to unwind with some silly stop motion. I decided to give myself an hour and this is what I came up with.

The idea was to see if I could make Spider-Man do a convincing flip without any masking. This led to making him flip over an object... which then led to Spider-Man flipping over Wolverine.

Although I like the idea, I think the Wolverine bit could have been better had I spent more time on it.

This whole video started with Spider-Man stopping the motorcycle and I just kept going. I wanted Spider-Man to go up against a TIE Fighter but alas, that will have to be for another time.

The Iron Man figure is incredibly difficult to animate! I've done a video before using this mech figure and I can honestly say that I'm going to refrain from using it again for a while. I'm pretty happy with the results but MAN, that was hard!

I was watching a clip from the LEGO Batman movie and was amazed on how the animators moved Batman's arms out of the socket. I figured I'd like to give it a try and see... so I remembered this Iron Man joke and went for it.

Animating the arms was difficult because I tried to hide the putty holding them in place. You'll see that I wasn't able to hide it 100%, but I think if I got some putty/clay of the same color as the minifigure... maybe that would give it a better effect. I could mask out the putty, but that would be WAY too much work!

Anyhow, hope you enjoy this experiment! I'd love your feedback on it!

I'm enjoying these "I made this in (x) minutes" videos! I think it challenges me creatively and helps with my time management. Normally I'd look at 90 minutes as too short of a timeframe to make something, but since starting these types of videos, my perspective has changed. I think these videos help my brain stay sharp in terms of stop motion techniques.

For this video, I was originally going to use Spider-Man, but then realized Spider-Man is super strong... so I needed a super hero that had basically zero physical powers. Batman it is!

I highly encourage you to make your own "I made this in (x) minutes" video! These Brickfilms are fun, they're silly, and that's always a good combination!

I'm practicing my Spider-Man stuff and wanted to try a sequence where he's flipping and shooting at the same time. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out... next time I'll work on more camera movement.

It took me 52 minutes to make this. About 45 minutes to shoot the video and 7 minutes to add the sound. I kept debating whether to put music underneath but in the end I think the silence is better.

This scene took much longer than anticipated. Extreme close up shots are difficult to do as every little movement is exaggerated ten-fold. I think I finally got it looking pretty ok... hope you enjoy this video!

This video started off as an experiment to see if I could control multiple things at once (Spider-Man, the web, the dog, the cars, and the people). I must admit - controlling Spider-Man and the web is a LOT harder than it looks! The incredible Edbound does a fantastic job at it!

This video took longer to finish than expected but I'm pretty happy with the results!
