Lord Farnsworth
The "secret" final / endgame DLC boss locked behind the assembly of the astral key. This is on standard Nightmare difficulty... Nice change of pace for their bossfights. Plasma Rifle melts it faster than anything I tried.
updated 1 month ago
I'm not saying I dont like it just whinging that its hard, and IMO having beaten Eternal on Ultra Nightmare, this is much harder at standard difficulty balance.
No commentary & No damage taken, truth ending with all three phases.
This video is not about whomping the boss - that's easy. This is intended as a guide to show what he is capable of and how to beat him no matter what BS he throws at you. Only 4 of his 50+ attacks are missing here.
I uploaded this already but after days of trying I knew I could do better and show a lot more so I redid the fight. This time I turned off cutscene replay and edited the cutscenes back in after.
I wanted to make a point of using a normal build. I could have respecced for no-hit but left my character as I first encountered the boss to keep everything as fair as possible. Even with this build if I laid into him I could have done this in less than half the time, he can be stun-locked and a lot of his attacks can be interrupted. When you learn the 50+ attacks he is not that difficult...
Seriously good boss design and 3 really punishing fights which took me a while to figure out.
I was massively holding back here to let him show off as many attacks as possible but even still there are 4 attacks he didn't get to use:
- Phase 2 unblockable wing stab - same timing as the grab attack
- Phase 2 volley of tiny projectiles [easy late dodge]
- phase 2 sequence of chaos projectiles [extremely easy to dodge] and
- the only new attack he gets in phase 3 apart from variations: the total BS teleport-suckerpunch followup attack which caught most of my runs. He usually does that after the gravity blast. Just keep distance during teleports to avoid, but damage from this is very low.
Every attack he has can be dodged or blocked - even each tick of the waterfowl dance attack he does in phase2/3 can be brink blocked (but not worth the risk), likewise the timing for brink dodging some of the spells is crazy tight and the chaos buildup isn't worth it - dodge the spells, block everything else.
I started with the spear and later on tried different weapons. There's a lot of complaining about how OP the spear is, but IMO all 3 weapons are equally viable and can become just as devastating when built into. Moonlight Stance just makes the spear the simplest to accidentally be good with. Dual-wield was the hardest for me to master but for level exploration especially it's extremely powerful.
*this was completed on the May patch, but is uploaded after the June patch. Updates with this game have affected performance and so I have been playing offline. There's no advantage gained in the patch played on, and the new difficulty modes don't make a difference for what I'm doing here - if anything the new highest difficulty would make this easier because the hardest part is keeping him alive long enough to use all of his attacks.
My main gripe with the game is the inability to overwrite the deadzone on the sticks which makes camera movement choppy. Frankly performance got to me a few times too, but that's the Unreal Engine for you - all hype no stability.

Took me ages to figure her out, especially phase 2 which felt like she had the same wind-up for every combo (she doesn't). Great design overall.
Wish she looked more monstrous in phase 2, all the female bosses have the exact same typical anime aesthetic the designers are always averse to stray from. Having said that, mechanics and fluidity are the most important thing in this game and it nails that from start to finish.
My main gripe with the game is the camera is choppy when panning slow/mid using a controller - doesn't happen with mouse & exact same thing happens on PS5. Like the game has a built in deadzone for the sticks that's set way too extreme, couldn't find a way to fix it using steam overlay and I'm not running 3rd party software to fix.

There has to be a better way, but this is how I did it.
in Bloodied Sanctuary at the Path of The Temple checkpoint run upstairs and kill the werewolf, then lead the 4 chaos adds up and bunch all the enemies together. the Observers temd not to move once they see you so you need to wait for those to line up before entering their line of sight

I actually had no idea what that skill Gale: Doom was going to do. 100% broken especially doubling up with sword dance. Just activate both & alternate light/heavy attacks.

Such a good design, pretty much officially sets this game out as the best soulslike for me - barely scraping by Lords of The Fallen (jk LOTF is trash).
The way this boss evolves through the 2 phases (technically 4) is pretty perfect. Some combos gradually evolve through the fight, others have timing changes later on and muscle memory will catch you out. Some of the attacks toward the very end are really difficult to read.
I had been trying to just rush through the game to the end whenever I get the time to play but this fight stands out too much. I had a lot of my counters timed and planned and basically just waited for openings and punished every moment where he takes time to recover, without breaking the weakpoint too early. Every attempt looked the same, just a matter of getting the timings down, especially the end where things change up a lot.
Also I guess my PC s*** itself during the last cutscene slightly. I've tried a lot to improve performance in this game. They had a post ages ago saying to stay on December's NVidia driver but no word since then - I updated for Doom. It could be that, my GPU averages 40% usage and CPU less than 10% at 120fps with Quality DLSS, game is on an NVME and a lot done to optimise the PC for gaming. I only get this kind of thing with Khazan and seems to be on shader draws usually.

Personally I found Phase 1 a lot tougher. I really hate these kind of boss fights, hard to predict, hard to read, and small so hard to even see when up close; fast, high poise and prone to dodging. Didn't give this too much time to learn. There was a bug in the patch I was playing on, fixed an hour or 2 after I beat her which made her spam her dash attack if you brink blocked it, which happens at 2.30, I thought nothing of it at the time since I never got the 2nd brink block and assumed in phase 2 that attack was a double attack.

Pretty fun fight, nice surprise having to fight a 2nd beefier one immediately after the first. Only encountered this enemy once before (I think) and it was fun to finally get to learn the 9-hit combo (which is extremely unforgiving if you miss a single parry).

Really enjoyed this fight, he's very flashy especially in phase 2. Maybe it's just me but I found the colour scheme & shader styles here really disorientating, so it took a while to figure out how to actually look at the boss to read what he's doing amidst all the glowing red.
This fight is intense. I was a little disappointed to figure out you can interrupt all the insane coffin-riding attacks which lead to a temporary preview of phase 2. Before you figure that out phase 1 is a lot more overwhelming. Like a lot of the Khazan fights it can sometimes feel like the attacks are unfair until you figure out the clues in how to deal with them (Maluca case & point).
I also felt like I kept getting inputs eaten during this fight - usually immediately after a counterattack I can queue up a follow up but found a lot of times it wasn't registering in this fight.

Really enjoyed this fight, she's very tricky but aggressiveness is highly rewarded. I really struggled to keep Moonlight Stance active because of her frequent dodges, teleports and interrupts... seems in learning to get around that I also figured out how to just pummel her to death without getting a chance to use any of the nasty phase 2 stuff. I hope the devs patch in more aggressiveness into her, felt like the easiest boss in a long while overall. When she does get the upper hand she's absolutely ruthless and has some really tricky combos and great punishing attacks in phase 2 - but you don't need to learn any of that you just need to be ready to chuck a spear to prevent the shield if she teleports, and learn when and how to close distance (while managing stamina).

Recorded on PC at mostly medium/high settings at native 1440p to keep fps up & latency down. It's running at nearly 200fps but latency higher than other games at default settings - GPU is being worked to the bone... Still getting used to M&K so a bit sloppy but the gameplay is seriously fun, even if the music isn't great.
****ing hard man...
I had recently switched to Greatsword for a dungeon after obtaining the full Crimson Fiend set, so decided to give the twin blades a go. Up until this fight I was enjoying it, but you really need to have solid muscle memory during a fight like this and I was still unfamiliar with the build. Spear would definitely be better suited to this fight, even greatsword would be better IMO since she staggers so easily... mostly...

From what I could tell this is just a rehash of Shactuka with 1 combo alteration. Basically the game's answer to Bloodletting Beast and it's basically a perfect fight janky camera and all.
I had the full Crimson Fiend set after the last mission so decided to change it up and give the greatsword a go for this dungeon. Muscle memory isn't great and I'm probably missing a good few tricks but it's a really enjoyable build, very parry focused and hyper armour with those insane charged attacks makes trading totally viable. The build I used is at the end.

I had been holding back with the leveling but the game feels like it has started to push back a nice amount so I'm 10 or so levels behind but spending all of the skill & memory points. All soulstones spent on heals since lacrima gain is pretty worthless.
It's Rangkus phase 2 for an entire fight with some new tricks. Awesome boss but I really just wanted to progress the game so there are a lot of mistakes here and throwing pretty much everything at him. Leaning into the double dodge of moonlight stance a lot to manage with his trickier timings, especially fire AOEs.
I had a lot going on when this came out so only getting the chance to play it now, and totally loving it. Game is great so far overall, I went in expecting a soulslike but this is more of a classic hack and slash with super tight combat. Great to see the genre coming back strong. Game is far from perfect but it's really fun.

Seriously good fight, constant pressure, really tricky timing, loads of flashy moves, plus a phase 2 with expanded moveset and prolonged combos (just when you had them learned). At first I thought it was about baiting openings, getting around the shield, but it's all about laying on constant but controlled pressure so you can still react to her counterattacks.
I held back at the end because there were a few moves she hadn't thrown out yet - turns out she still had attacks I hadn't seen at all.

Loved the original fight so getting a remix of it and not just a reskin was awesome to see. Though he should have had at least 2x the HP and been far more aggressive.
I haven't really cared one way or the other about the plot, it's all serviceable. But this subplot with Xilence was really poor. A really disappointing & lazy ending, but at least I will never have to listen to that irritating voice again. RIP annoying little buddy.

This fight is straightforward but really punishing - especially towards the end she has some moves with crazy damage and almost no warning.
Played with controller on the Playstation 5. Unfortunately this game gives very limited rebind options on console, so I stuck with standard layout, confusing as I found it, with a bump to look speed to suit my reflexes.
