SicksTeaPhoarAlt...well, I say 'high' quality; it's a 16,160 Hz audio file.
This is the SCEE demo disc theme, introduced in mid-December 1995 on Official UK PlayStation Magazine disc two (cover-dated January 1996) and used until early/mid-1999. The audio was ripped from one of the discs I have in my collection (rather than recorded off of someone else's video like the last one), with a fade-out added as the music loops indefinitely. Composed by Harry Holmwood.
This video was compiled on Windows Live Movie Maker, which is a completely useless pile of shite.

Anyway, Registered Users Demo 06 (SCED-01988) is a unique demo in that its background doesn't play in a straight loop but rather a looping sequence that plays the frames in a certain order (if you want to see how it plays without this sequence implemented, go to this video and skip to approx. 12:45: youtube.com/watch?v=QjCzT6MHWxQ). This has rather interesting effects on other discs' menus.

It seems to be a slightly different story with my PS2, however, as this video demonstrates.Noisy fanSicksTeaPhoarAlt2016-07-07 | blehRibbit King voice clipsSicksTeaPhoarAlt2016-06-27 | Since nobody else had done it, here are the voice clips from the 2003/2004 video game 'Ribbit King'. While these were ripped from a demo disc (OPS2M demo 50 [September 2004; SCED-52165], to be specific), I reckon this is complete enough.
Btw, if anyone can identify who the VAs are, that would be much appreciated. They're not credited in the game from what I've seen, and I have a hunch that they're not credited in the manual either.

A video I recorded out of boredom demonstrating this neat little easter-egg you can achieve on European PS1 demo discs by replacing the disc and pressing Select. I don't know if this was intentional or not, but it's mildly interesting at least. I recorded this by pointing a camera at the TV because I'm a cheap bastard who doesn't have a capture device.
Also, if you don't like 15 minutes of a ten-second music loop playing over and over again, may I suggest muting the sound or just watching another video altogether.
And yes, I used a PS2 for this video.
PS I actually kind of like how the music sounds through this tinny mono TV speaker. Watching this video with annotations switched on is not recommended. They will annoy the fuck out of you unless you somehow find the information interesting. Keep in mind that I posted this back when I was all of twelve years old (yes, twelve).
Anyway...
This is the old theme used for the PAL PlayStation magazine demo discs, composed by Harry Holmwood.
I would like to apologise for the shitty audio quality on this one, though I suppose that's what you'd get for recording the audio from one of ACRetro's videos (while looping it in the process) and then applying a noise filter on it. Though to be honest, the raw audio file itself has a rather low sampling rate anyway, at 16,160 Hz.
First used on disc 2 (January 1996) and last used on disc 44 (April 1999) of the Official UK PlayStation Magazine (the Official French PlayStation Magazine used the theme until May 1999, however).
It was also used on other non-OPSM UK demo discs (Registered Users discs 2 to 4, every Essential PlayStation demo disc, Das Offizielle PlayStation Magazin (OPSM Germany) discs 1 to 12/98 (with a few exceptions), PlayStation Magazine (OPSM France) discs 3 to 31 (also with a few exceptions), the list goes on).
Credit goes to ACRetro for the audio (I was too lazy to do it myself).

Here's how you do this using Audacity
Get yourself a way to convert audio into MP3/WAVE files
Duplicate audio into 6 channels
1st should be as is
2nd lowered 0.500
3rd lowered 5.000
4th raised 0.500
5th raised 5.000
6th raised C to E
All of them percent changed 75.000 by Tempo
Done using Sony Vegas Pro 8.0a (Build 179)
Slow down effect done using the lame Windows Movie Maker.
