Haunted Castle | Sally Dark Rides Sally Dark Rides 2020-10-28 | The Haunted Castle dark ride at Santa Cruz Beach BoardwalkAs Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk officially opened the new $9 million Haunted Castle on June 4, 2010, over forty frightful animatronic critters and characters (human and non-human) from Sally Corporation, and a variety of scary special effects, sprang to other-worldly life, eliciting screams and giggles from visitors.Culminating over four years of planning and building, the new Haunted Castle erected on the site of the old Haunted Castle—which started out as the home of Dante’s Inferno in 1931, utilizes nearly 10,000 square feet of space beneath the Boardwalk for the ride.In an unusual twist, the new ride loads and unloads at the Boardwalk level, descending to enter and ascending to exit the spooky attraction. At the start of the ride, the old-fashioned hearse-style ride vehicles (from I. E. Park) travel backwards down a spiral ramp haunted by floating ghosts. Passing through the entrance hall, where the ghostly (projected) king extends a royal welcome, visitors travel through various areas of the castle…dungeons, the kitchen, a wine cellar, and the dining room before, surprisingly, passing through a fireplace into a swamp and over a bridge, then finding themselves in an eerie graveyard before braving rabid dogs in the royal kennels and barely escaping a falling guillotine as they exit the castle.The aim was to create a family ride that was spooky and a little scary, yet fun. There are some good scares, but no blood and some really funny scenes. Old and new came together seamlessly to create a winning attraction for Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk visitors: the ride consistently runs at capacity, according to Boardwalk management, and guest reviews are extremely positive.*R & R Creative Amusement Designs. The event will have to be postponed unless we can help Detective Grover solve the mystery of ‘The Big Cookie Caper!’ We’ll follow a trail of cookie crumb clues down Sesame Street, collecting them as we go, trying to figure out where the Big Cookie is and who took it. Only then will Cookie Day be saved!The near six-minute long dark ride attraction is housed in a newly constructed 14,000 square foot building and features a 11 minute pre-show and 5:50 minute ride experience.

Gobbler Getaway - POV | Sally Dark Rides Sally Dark Rides 2019-09-06 | This interactive dark ride was designed and built by Sally Dark Rides for Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana.The lively, custom-designed family dark ride is set in the Thanksgiving area of Holiday World. This is the location of Autumn Falls, a make-believe town where autumn colors glow all year ’round, and where, in Brigadoon-like fashion, visitors can step back in time and participate in an event that happened over two-hundred years ago when Farmer Van Snoodle’s flock of turkeys disappeared right before Thanksgiving. Each ride vehicle is equipped with digital scoring consoles to track riders’ scores as they zap the ninety targets located throughout the ride, and turkeys pop up at the sound of the turkey callers. Gobbler Getaway is designed with appeal for all ages: Fun, adventure, and fast paced custom music, along with all those silly turkeys, leave everyone from kindergartners to grandparents with smiles on their faces. Aunt Abigail explains that everyone gets a turkey caller to help round up the missing turkeys, which are hiding everywhere: popping up in the barn, in the cornfields, the hayloft, the stable…even from the well and laundry hanging on a clothesline. Each time a target is hit, a turkey reacts with something silly to say or do and guests watch their scores add up on the in-car scoring console. After the runaway turkeys have been rounded up and brought home, Farmer Van Snoodle doesn’t have the heart to serve one up for dinner. Instead, he proudly unveils PIZZA!
