We didn't video out 3 shot group for our initial sighting in (wish we had). At 100 yards out of the rifle in this video, we got a .224" group. This gave us some idea of what to expect.
Even with gusty 5-10 mph winds out to 500 yards, these bullets were capable of 2.52" in the single 5 shot group we attempted.
Thought the BC of these bullets is lower than the ELD or ELD-X (.58 as opposed to .61), I think we found our new favorite bullet. 50 cartridges for $59.00 is a good value for the performance they provide.
A+ to the dual American combo - Ruger American Predator and Hornady American Gunner 140gr BTHP. Well done!Thermal Coyote Hunting - Pulsar Apex - ( XD38A ) by UGAUnofficial Gun Addicts2017-02-14 | Had the chance to get out with a Pulsar XD38A! My XD75A was one from a batch that had the LCD Freeze issue with Pulsar support was excellent about remedying. They ordered me a brand new scope from the factory... and provided me with this XD38A to use in the meantime.
The image was clear and it is just as field friendly as it's bigger brother. I used this scope in single digit temps with no issues! I can see that it wouldn't be capable of the distances I can see with the XD75A, but with the typical coyote coming into between 100-200 yards, I don't know that it's necessary. Great value on this one. I would recommend it after using it in the field!Thermal Coyote Hunting - Pulsar Apex - (Exposed) by UGAUnofficial Gun Addicts2016-11-15 | This stand wasn't intended as we had planned to cross the field and call where the sagebrush started, however, after scanning, I noticed a coyote sitting approximately 350 yards away so we dropped, setup, and started calling.... to little effect. The initial coyote took off, but 3 in his pack moved off to about 500 yards and ignored us.
So... we fired up cottontail distress, which brought them closer, but with the full moon and cut alfalfa, we stuck out like a sore thumb in the middle of that field. A set of mole squeaks got their curiosity and brought them even closer, to around 350 yards or so. I quieted the call and they decided to move downwind to check things out.
After the lead coyote caught our scent and then the second one looked like it might have as well, I decided to take a poke at the trailing coyote that had checked up. Was fortunate enough to get him with a single bullet from my DPMS Sweet 16 .223 through the neck.
Good result, but certainly wasn't what we had planned! Isn't that coyote hunting in a nutshell!!!
It sure is great having you back and looking forward to getting more coyote action up soon.
Keep shooting straight... and if not... keep shooting!Thermal Coyote Hunting - Pulsar Apex - (the 3 Amigos) by UGAUnofficial Gun Addicts2016-11-10 | This was a great example of a stand that could have been a double, but winded up being a single... due to having to "Anchor" the first dog. If it was an open field... I would have gone on to the second coyote and come back to the first one, but with the heavy sage, I didn't want to take the chance of it getting away.
One of these days, my brother Tony will wake up and we'll have some footage of a double or triple!!
Until then... it's great having you back and looking forward to getting more coyote action up.
Keep shooting straight... and if not... keep shooting!Ruger American Predator - Positive Extraction - Good EjectorUnofficial Gun Addicts2016-11-09 | Heya guys... my recent video has a number of people commenting or concerned about the possibility that the extractor is soft on this rilfe.
It is not. I just get tired of chasing brass in tall grass. Here's an example of the factory extractor doing it's job 100% of the time since I got the rifle. No issues with this rifle as to ejection strength.Thermal Coyote Hunting - Pulsar Apex - (4th times a Charm) by UGAUnofficial Gun Addicts2016-10-30 | This was one of those times when you pull the trigger, expecting to see a coyote fall...and it runs off full tilt!!
One thing I love about recording my hunts is that I have the opportunity to go back to review and learn from my mistakes! This one I believe is pretty obvious. The Pulsar Apex thermals come with a zoomed picture in picture. I generally use that for my first shot. If I was paying attention to the main screen, I would have noticed that there was a fence post in the way!! I didn't even see it in the PIP because I was so focused on shot placement. Using a Pulsar XD75A for this hunt.
Turned out fine in the end although I did have the spend 4 times the ammo.... but I guess... 4th times a charm!

Keep shooting straight... and if not... keep shooting anyways!Coyote Hunting with Pulsar Thermal Sight (Peristence) by UGAUnofficial Gun Addicts2016-10-04 | This bugger was a tough one. I watched him cross 2 fields only to disappear about 60 yards in front of me into some tall grass. I kept waiting for him to come out but he never did, so I snuck out, drove down to the end of the mile road, hit the howler and sure enough... this fella howls back from virtually right were I was setup originally. He must have had a den in that deep/tall grass.
So I drove halfway back and shimmied up a 3 tier big bale haystack (pretty tough for a guy that's 50... with gun and gear), fired up a pair of coyotes howling and less than a minute into it, this mutt come busting across the field parallel to the haystack I was on... then he cuts right towards me at the edge of the field.
Attempted to ambush him but he cut away just as I was thinking I had him.... but I ambushed him a moment later.
A good night because the property owners and their dogs had been kept up with his incessant howling every night for the last 3 weeks.
Just have to say that sometimes... you have to stick with it, especially with predators. Don't give up. Persistence is the key to success!

The Mojo Critter has been an excellent decoy during the day, but lacks visibility at night.
Hopefully, this modification with some "Old School" white feathers will bring in the mutts even in the dark.
Will post results!Coyote Hunting with Pulsar Thermal Sight (The Snooze) by UGAUnofficial Gun Addicts2016-09-20 | My hunting partner/brother fell asleep on this one! No criticizing though because I was just happy that he was out in the field with me. It has been a long long time as he just had both his kidney's pulled this summer and this is the first time he's felt up to going in almost a year (and he only felt like going out once last season... which is sad because coyote hunting is a passion of his too).
I took the shot on this one because I looked over and saw that he wasn't even close to ready (thought he was... but a glance his way told me all I needed to know). We got him on a mutt later but no video as I was helping him to get his night vision up and ready in time to get his coyote.
I keep laughing when I think of him sleeping out there on his back in the field on the hard ground with his rifle on his chest 3 of the 4 stands we did... and snoring too! I can't believe the coyotes didn't notice... but perhaps I've discovered a new call!!
Anyway... just glad to have him out hunting with me again. He's a trooper!

Explanation: The groups by the Remington 220 gr subsonic rounds were so horrendous out of this rifle, that we went back to the store and bought a box of Sig Elite Performance 220 gr subs. We decided not to waste your time watching the Remington 220 subs, and felt that showing you what the Sig 220 subs could do out of the rifle made more sense. You may find the Remington subsonics work well in your 300 BO Ranch combo as the Remington 120 gr supersonics performed very well!!
NOTE: This rifle is a joy, however, it did come with some issues that will be discussed in a follow-up video. A couple of minor things, and one major issue that will require shipment back to Ruger for correction.
In spite of this... I think this is a great little rifle, one I plan to keep and use in the coming months for coyotes and perhaps even deer.
Appreciate your taking the time to visit and please like and subscribe if you enjoy our content! It's important for small youtube channels such as ours!! Thanks!!

I personally find it a charming firearm and am willing to deal with some of the flaws it came with, while another person may not.
We are generally most concerned with how a firearm performs in the field with respect to it's accuracy, however, this little gun presented a number of issues that we felt it necessary to do an entire video to make sure that those that are considering purchasing this rifle can go in with eyes-wide-open.
If you are anything like me... you will ignore the flaws... deal with the issues... and have a nice usable and functional little rifle which will be a pleasure to both carry and shoot (when you have finished). Or perhaps you will be lucky and get one that is perfect from the get go... we sure hope so.
But if you aren't so lucky... hopefully this video might assist you with correcting some of the problems we encountered when we got this rifle.
In spite of it all... we just can't help but love this inexpensive and accurate little rifle.Coyote Hunting with Pulsar Thermal Sight (Zig-Zaggin) by UGAUnofficial Gun Addicts2016-06-22 | Thermal coyote hunt with the Pulsar APEX HD75A thermal imaging rifle scope and my favorite coyote Rifle... DPMS Sweet 16.
This guy was challenge barking... moving in and out of the brush making a shot difficult. Since I told the land owner that I'd attempt to get some mutts off his property as they've been chasing his calves, I wanted to be sure to get a money shot. Glad I waited.
Love the Pulsar Apex XD75A!!

Here at UGA... that's what it's all about. The love of shooting!
Hope you get a chance to get out soon!!Ruger American Predator - Amazingly Accurate - 500 Yard Steel - By UGAUnofficial Gun Addicts2016-06-01 | My son and I finally had a chance to get the Ruger American Predator 6.5 Creedmoor out to the 600 yard range. We unfortunately didn't have enough ammo to throw the Hornady ELD 140s any further than 500 yards, but it did give us a chance to see what kind of accuracy we could squeeze out of it.
Needless to say... we were very impressed.
Sitting on top we had a Weaver Tactical 3-10x mildot scope which was just pulled off of a flat-top AR so we could come out and test this rifle. We typically zero in at about 2.75" high @ 100 yards. This gives us a nice point blank range well into 300. Now i know there are people who insist on zeroing at 100 yards for precision work, however, your knowledge of ballistics and shooting can put in the zone very quickly with good educated instinctual shooting.
So.... get out and shoot!! And as always.... thanks for stopping by!!K31 Swiss - Range Day - 500 to 600 Yards Scoped Accuracy - by UGAUnofficial Gun Addicts2016-05-31 | Took the K31 out for a little distance test as it's the first time we've had her at a range further than 200 yards. It's a pleasure to shoot and I was surprised how well it performed. Great Gun! UGA gives the K31 Swiss a "GOT TO LOVE" rating!
The rifle is stock, except for the added Swiss Products Mount & Muzzle Brake. We have a Bushnell Elite 400 3-12x sitting on top. We highly recommend Swiss Products as the mount is sturdy, well-constructed, and the muzzle brake definitely reduces recoil without affecting accuracy. Lost some footage due to a virus as I did have a nice comparison with and without the brake, but there are a lot of guns I want to shoot and will likely not redo that footage unless I find myself really without anything to do!!

Well, we did and were hoping to answer some of those questions with a classic battle between the old, and the new. I was so disappointed by my first offhand group with the Sig P226 Legion that when my buddy surprised me at the range this weekend and he offered a second chance, I couldn't help but take him up on it. I KNEW the Sig Legion was an accurate pistol from the supported test, so I was fairly certain it was just my poor pistol work offhand that produced my initial results.
Very pleased that I am now able to provide you with my second attempt and I was able to do the Sig Legion justice.
As always, UGA does NOT CHERRY PICK because we've always hate when people just show their good group... and it took 10 to get it. We want you to see exactly what occurs when we are testing out a product. Just pleased I didn't have to post another poor showing!!
Thanks for coming back and keep shooting straight Gun Addicts!!Springfield Armorys Range Officer .45 - Bug Holing Steel - by UGAUnofficial Gun Addicts2016-05-02 | Don't you get that incredible feeling when one of your guns shoots amazingly well?!?! I must admit, I'm as guilty as the next guy. Well, I've always believed that the Springfield Armory Range Officer made me a better shooter, but I wanted to put it to the test and see just how accurate this pistol is, without the interference of my off-hand shooting movements etc.
So.... 10 shots... supported on a bag... No cherry picking. What you see is what I got (always). Needless to say... even supported, I got a warm feeling when I saw that one ragged hole down at the end of the barrel after the last round was fired.
The group ended up being 1.146" ... so if you take away .45 for the size of the bullets, the actual group size is .69" at 10 yards. Considering I didn't have the pistol in a vice... that's not too shabby!
What a terrific pistol. Kudos Springfield Armory. Job Well Done!!
Gotta love that!Sig Legion P226 - Accuracy (Awesome) - Range Review - by UGAUnofficial Gun Addicts2016-05-01 | This pistol surprised me. It's accuracy off the bag and during rapid fire caught me off guard. I've shot a number of pistols in my time and I have to say that I believe this to be one of the finest semi-auto factory pistols ever produced. I've never really been a big Sig fan due to the price to performance ratio, however, Sig has my attention with the Legion. They can and should be proud of this particular handgun. The trigger on this gun is to die for.
In this review, I shot off-hand (which truly shows my lack of expertise shooting pistols), bag supported (amazing), and rapid fire (my jaw was hitting the floor).
Those that consider Sig to be one of the best manufacturers of handguns in the world, can point to the Legion and say, "See....!!!" There are a lot of great pistols and semi-autos out there, and the Legion stands among them, proud and tall.
Well done Sig Sauer. Well done.
(A final note should be that during our day of shooting the Legion, we had 0 failures shooting a variety of ammo, and one bullet that was too large at the base to chamber into the CZ 75B, easily chambered and fired from the Legion).Thermal Bunny Explosion - American Eagle VT 50gr .223 Bullet Test - by UGAUnofficial Gun Addicts2016-04-18 | GRAPHIC WARNING: Not for the squeamish. Thermal used: Pulsar Apex XD75A
This is a demonstration of the incredible damage caused by Federal's American Eagle 223 50gr Tipped Varmint bullets. These bullets are amazingly accurate and destructive, but not to the fur of coyotes. Mutts generally drop in place, have a small entrance wound, and no exit. The internal damage is extensive. A jack rabbit was harmed in the making of this video.
A typical box of 20 bullets only runs about $11.00 and is an astounding value for the cost. I prefer them to reloading Hornady A-max or V-max bullets.
Hope you enjoyed the video and that you kept your lunch down!

BossCoyote Hunting with Pulsar Thermal Sight (Sneaky One) by UGAUnofficial Gun Addicts2016-04-03 | Thermal coyote hunt with the Pulsar APEX HD75A thermal imaging rifle scope and my favorite coyote Rifle... DPMS Sweet 16.
Heya Gun Addicts!
There were coyotes to the West, South, and East... none coming in... as it was before dawn and plenty of rabbits, voles, and mice available and they had all night to hunt. Finally attempted some coyote vocals which lured this coyote in under deep cover. Just noticed him when scanning and I didn't waste time to finish things.
It's a good example of how thermal works with deep cover... and I am fairly confident when I say that I most likely would not have seen this particular sneaky one without the thermal.
Very pleased so far with the Pulsar Apex XD75A and the EPS5 battery pack by Pulsar kept me going on night long allowing me to have the opportunity for the pre-dawn song dog. Will definitely have more videos up soon!

This is a big one for me! I've been wanting a thermal scope for a tremendously long time but just couldn't bring myself to drop $5,000 to $8,000 for one. But the itch just had to be scratched, so I sold my Ruger Precision Rifle (which I loved), my Bushnell HDMR 3.5x21 FFP Scope (which I absolutely loved), my Raytheon Thermal-Eye 250D (you know how I felt about that) and a couple other goodies in my closet so that I could have the scratch to afford this Pulsar.
Was it worth it?
WITH OUT A DOUBT.... ABSOLUTELY!!
So, hold on to your hats because 20-25 mph winds with 30-35 mph gusts couldn't keep me
home... had to get out and put some lead on paper to see what this beauty could do. Very
pleased.
So plug your ears (if you need to) because the wind is whipping it up at times, but believe me... it was worth every second and I hope you enjoy coming along!

Unedited discussion on thermal for hunting, what it's done for us at UGA, and how it might be used in the field. With nearly 2 years and 100 trips into the field with the Raytheon Thermal-Eye 250D, I wanted to share my perspective of this unit as well as how this technology has impacted our hunting. If you are looking into thermal as an option on a budget, I attempted to give realistic expectations for it's use, limitations, and benefits. This is a long video so it was broken in (2) parts: The first being the discussion and tabletop review & the second which will show video captured from the unit itself under varying conditions.
We are new to producing videos and have learned a lot from this review (Lighting options are currently being examined after making Part 1.... and tripods & mounts have been purchased upon reviewing footage of Part 2). It is our sincere desire to improve the quality of our videos and provide a robust channel for those of you who love guns & hunting!

In this video, I briefly cover how to quickly and inexpensively clean small batches of brass (less than 100 rounds) using common items that shooters should have readily available in their homes. Sometimes, tumbling or ultra sonic cleaning 10-50 rounds just takes longer than a person wants, especially if on limited time like most of us are. This is one method that you can use to clean your small batches quickly and get right to reloading.
Currently, parts 1, 2, & 3 of this series are still in the editing room, but I hope to have them up shortly.
If you've got other great ideas for reloading, please feel free to share. There's a lot of smart people out there and I know that some of you have found alternative ways of improving the standard processes! I don't discriminate when it comes to great ideas!
Thanks for stopping by and keep shooting straight!K31 Swiss Accuracy - 100 & 200 Yards by UGA (ver 2)Unofficial Gun Addicts2016-02-18 | (This is a revised version of my initial Youtube video!)
I wanted to upload some footage from the first range trip with my recently acquired 1944 K31 Swiss. I scoured YouTube looking for good videos on accuracy and there were some amazing long-distance open-sight shots out at 1000+ yards, however, trying to get a feel for what the average K31 could do with no modifications to the barrel & stock was challenging to say the least. So, I decided to go out and throw some lead (figuratively speaking) downrange to give you all a sense of what this rifle can do with GP11 (standard Swiss military ammunition) at reasonable distances.
After shooting the gun and making just one modification to the torque of both rear & front barrel bands, I have no doubt that with some tweaking, a stock K31 in good condition (most are), should be capable of sub-moa accuracy , especially if you reload (.308 Berger VLD's will be seeing this rifle very soon.... I'll post some video when that day comes). We had one group with the GP11 that I didn't show in the video because we were just setting up and getting on paper at 100 yards that literally bug-holed a 3 round group.
Some may ask below why we pull out the cartridges from the receiver: We noticed that if we ejected the brass with force, it dented the mouth of the cartridge when it flew into the scope mount (this will be remedied shortly by getting a rubber buttpad and sliding the mount rearward a bit). As we intend to use the brass, we didn't want to have all our cases deformed.
Thanks for watching and I hope to get more videos up soon. All feedback welcome as I have a lot of learning to do when it comes to video editing.
