RARE and UNRELEASED GG Allin Prison Conversation and Photos from North Carolina and Florida. Ponk Media 2024-05-28 | I did several Photo shoots with GG Allin during the time I worked with him, both in Charlotte North Carolina and in Tampa Florida. In this video I picked out a few of my favorite images that I took of him. This is not all of my favs, but a few. Some of these have never been published until now. The audio conversation is from a chat I had with GG in early 1991, when we just getting to know each other. We had just conducted the lengthy interview I did with him via mail and we were starting our working relationship which would eventually consist of The Ann Arbor Incident, Carnival Of Excess, Bleedin Stinkin & Drinkin and other projects. He talks about pictures of him, the Freaks album and how The Troubled Troubadour moniker evolved from the Screw magazine interview.I was very respectful of when GG wanted to be photographed. There were times when he didn’t want pictures taken or footage to be shot. Not respecting those wishes could compromise things quickly. That being said, I was able to take hundreds of pictures of him during the time we were woking together. GG Allin Eats BBQ, has movie night with Henry and Plays Name That Tune, Tampa FL, 1991. Ponk Media 2024-05-25 | More Happy Days with GG Allin! When I brought GG to Tampa to make his album (and video) Carnival of Excess, I knew that we would have our ups and downs. There were times where we butted heads, and there were times that we didn’t. In this episode I tell the story about when I took GG to the University of South Florida to meet my co workers. We (myself, GG and The Razor) ended up going to a great BBQ lunch in one of Tamp’s fine rustic little BBQ joints. We rented Henry and had a nice "mellow" movie night. GG played Jabbers songs on the acoustic guitar as we tried to Name The Tune. Razor crushed me and shut me out. Of course GG enjoyed me getting beat and threw barbs at me the rest of the evening, all in good fun. This was one of the few, if not the only night, where GG and I didn’t pound our livers into submission. Good Times!! The rat tattoo was given by Chris Kramer, with an assist by Frank Mullen (RIP). Frank is the one who is also shooting pictures in the photoshoot with the girls. He also was the drummer for the legendary Florida hardcore band, Roach Motel. Tempers Flare as GG Allin WALKS OUT of the Studio. Carnival Sessions in Jeopardy! Ponk Media 2024-05-19 | t wasn’t all fun and games working and dealing with GG Allin, as one can imagine. There were a few times where we butted heads and tempers flared. It this video I tell the story of how GG almost didn’t record the album, Carnival Of Excess.. He was NOT interested in using the piano and accordion on the recordings and threw a bit of a fit in the studio before we were getting ready to start recording. I honestly thought that the recordings were not going to happen. He was pretty angry at the thought of trying to expand his catalog, with this sort of instrumentation. It was not surprising that these sorts of challenges would arise, given the unique aspects of the recordings and overall what I was trying to accomplish with GG. I mean, this sort of things was never even a remote possibility on any other previous GG recording sessions, and let’s not forget about female backing vocals. This is UNHEARD OF on a GG album! In the end, I was able to convince GG that this HAD to happen, the wold needs it! He agreed and the recordings were completed. The pictures and video footage used in this episode were shot by me when GG was at my place in Tampa 1991, the week that the sessions took place. Some are from the photo shoot I did with him in North Carolina when he was there doing the vocals for the ANTiSEEN album a few months earlier.Thanks for checking the video out and for your support! Riding With GG Allin in a Limousine? How is that even Possible? #punk Ponk Media 2024-05-17 | In 1991, I brought GG Allin to Tampa Florida to record, what would eventually become, Carnival of Excess. During that week, we worked on several projects and also did a few events. One of the events was in In-Store meet and greet at the Alternative Record store in Tampa. The event was scheduled for two hours, which went the duration. It was packed. We had been heavily indulging since GG’s arrival, so we thought it best not to drive there, so we decided to take a limo. When I saw GG at the Harbor Club a few years earlier in 1989, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be riding in a limo with him, just a few short years later. He had a fun time riding around Tampa getting lubed up and primed fo the vet. I’m going to be doing an episode about the In-Store itself, but wanted to share some of this Classic footage from the ride to the event. After it was over we went back to the house and went swimming and indulged into the wee hours of the morning. The In-Store was a great success and all was good. Tiny Tim Sings for Rudy Vallee and Finds His Spiritual Sensitivity. Unreleased Footage! Ponk Media 2024-05-12 | The super 8mm film in the beginning of this video was used in the excellent documentary film, King For A Day. I shot it In September of 1994, when I brought Tiny Tim to Tampa Florida to record, what he considered his best album…Prisoner of Love (a tribute to Russ Columbo). The recording was done during the night, so during the days we would go to the parks, where Tiny would sing songs and enjoy the Florida sunshine. In this clip Tiny was at the house relaxing, answering a few questions and singing songs with his trademark ukulele. Tiny sings Memories and I’m still Caring, by one of his favorite crooners, Rudy Vallee. Tiny talks about meeting him and singing this song to him when they appeared together on the Joe Franklin show in 1978. This is Really Fun Stuff! Did GG Allin Destroy My House in Tampa? Was it worth Carnival of Excess? GG in Tampa FL 1991. Ponk Media 2024-05-08 | Certainly hanging out with GG Allin for eight day cand be detrimental to one’s health. I thought it to be a necessary chance, as I wanted to create something unique and different with the most notorious individual in Rock and Roll. I brought him to Tampa where we worked on a number of projects, most notably, Carnival of Excess. In this video I explain how and why I started working with GG. I briefly chat about meeting him in person for the first time in North Carolina when he was there doing the vocal for the ANTiSEEN album and the ax (and band) photo shoot I did with him. This is a broad look at what were were up to that week in Tampa. In future videos I will be going into detail about specific events such as the in-store at Alternative Records, The limo ride, the rat tattoo, the photo shoot with the strippers and more. But, in this video I wanted to provide an introduction to the evolution of my work with the most disturbing person in the history of Rock Music. Tiny Tim Tips with Gusto, Sings and Plays His Ukulele! A Barrel of Fun! Ponk Media 2024-04-26 | Tiny Tim is holding court as he sings songs and entertains his fans at the party for the Prisoner of Love recording sessions in Tampa Florida, 1994. He sings a few songs starting with New Day Coming and Roll out the Barrel. Then he brings in a more somber tome with After I Call You Sweetheart. This is super FUN footage and Tiny was having an absolute blast! His fans who were there were all enjoying themselves and everyone had a great time. An amazing night! Tiny was elated with the evening, as well as the recording sessions. He often referred to Prisoner of Love (a tribute to Russ Columbo) his best album.Tiny spent a week in Tampa in 1994. It’s much appreciated!In 1968, Tiny Tim, known for his high-pitched singing, released a popular song called "Tip Toe through the Tulips." With just his ukulele, Tiny Tim sang this tune, and it became a hit. He even appeared on famous TV shows like Rowan and Martin’s Laugh In and the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. The song itself, written by Al Dubin and Joe Burke way back in 1929, was a big success then too, staying at number one on the charts for ten weeks. It's about wanting to meet someone in a tulip garden for a romantic kiss under the moonlight. Although it's not clear if the songwriters or Tiny Tim knew the meaning behind the tulip, in Victorian times and in funerals, tulips were seen as a symbol of love and passion. Unlike roses, tulips don't have thorns, and even after they're cut, they still keep growing, which is why they're often linked with everlasting life.Tiny Tim, the singer known for playing the ukulele and signing old songs from the 1920s, was born as Herbert Khaury on April 12, 1932, in New York City. His father was Lebanese, and his mother was Jewish. He gew up in the Washington Heights area of Manhattan. Even though he dropped out of high school, Tiny Tim loved old music from the late 1800s to the 1930s. and wanted to be a singer. He learned to play the guitar and ukulele and started performing as "Larry Love" in the early 1950s. He often sang at a cabaret in Greenwich Village called Page 3. Despite his parents' disapproval, Tiny Tim kept singing the old songs he loved at small clubs, parties, and talent shows under different names. GG Allin appears at Repo Record In-Store, North Carolina 1991. What the heck happened? Ponk Media 2024-04-25 | In May of 1991, I went to Charlotte NC to meet up with GG Allin. He was in NC doing vocals for the album he did with ANTiSEEN, among other things, including the in store appearance at Repo Records. The footage in this video is from my archives and hasn’t been released up until now, for the most part. There is video out there of the whole event, but the footage in this video is from my camera and exclusive to this particular video. GG chats about meeting the MC5, his mission and his plans for his FINAL SHOW. GG and I had been in communication on the phone for about a year at this point, but we had never met in person. This was our first “in person” encounter with each other, although I did see him live at the Harbor Club (link about that show below) in 1989. I went to NC to deliver the transcripts for the Ann Arbor Incident book, which was never published. In addition, I was there to do a photo shoot with GG and also, GG and ANTiSEEN. A lot happened that weekend, all of which was good. I will be doing a more in depth video about that important weekend, the future. As mentioned in the video, GG didn’t do many in store appearances. I think he did 3, possibly 4. Was Tiny Tim stalking Elizabeth Taylor in 1947? He tells the story! Ponk Media 2024-04-22 | Here we have a video of the One-And-Only Tiny Tim enjoying himself at a party we had to celebrate the completion of the Prisoner of Love (a tribute to Russ Columbo) recording sessions that we did with Tiny back in late September, 1994. Tiny is holding court telling stories and singing songs while captivating those in attendance.. He was really having a great time and everyone there was super stoked to be hanging out with him. The video starts with Tiny doing the old Gus Elen song from 1902 titled “Don’t Stop My Half A Pint Of Beer”, He then tells this incredible story about how he met a very young (15 years old at the time) Elizabeth Taylor in New York City in 1947. Classic stuff!! Tiny also recites a poem that he wrote for her and also sings a verse of a song he wrote for her…His FIRST SONG THAT HE EVER WROTE. Tiny cites meeting Liz Taylor as his inspiration to get into the entertainment business.These are exclusive to this channel, and they have never been heard before, at least not to our knowledge. Even though he dropped out of high school, Tiny Tim loved old music from the late 1800s to the 1930s. and wanted to be a singer. He learned to play the guitar and ukulele and started performing as "Larry Love" in the early 1950s. He often sang at a cabaret in Greenwich Village called Page 3. Despite his parents' disapproval, Tiny Tim kept singing the old songs he loved at small clubs, parties, and talent shows under different names. The story of GG Allin at The Penguin Pub, Youngstown Ohio 1993. The last time I saw him alive. Ponk Media 2024-04-19 | When GG played at the Penguin Pub in Youngstown Ohio back in May 1993, I didn’t know that it would be the last time I would see GG alive….until the end of the night. It was the third and final time I saw GG Perform live. I had recently moved from Tampa FL, where we made Carnival of Excess, to Columbus OH. It was a little over a month later when GG met his fate after a chaotic show at The Gas Station in New York City. To this day, I remain bummed out that Carnival of Excess was a posthumous release for GG. He REALLY liked those recordings and said as much in several interviews. A tip of then hat to the mighty Antiseen in the beginning of this video. Their show brought me to Youngstown this time and it was well worth it! Rocked HARD! They were Amazing. GG Allin 1991 phone call from Adrian Prison discussing his early bands, The Scumfucs and The Jabbers Ponk Media 2024-04-11 | When GG and I first started working together, I would record our phone calls. He was aware that I was recording and didn't seem to mind. As our working relationship evolved, I stopped doing recording our conversations. This is from 1991, when he was incarcerated at the Adrian prison facility in Adrian Michigan. It was some of our first conversations where we were getting to know each other. Here, he chats about his old bands, The Jabbers and also, The Scumfucs. We had just finished an extensive interview via snail mail (more on that in a future episode) which would eventually lead to us working on the Ann Arbor Incident (also on future episodes) and various other things such as, Carnival of Excess, Bleedin Stinkin and Drinkin and more. Foul Existense Old School Florida Punk Rock from the mid 1980s! Surviving The Abortion film by Bob X Ponk Media 2024-03-23 | Foul Existense were a punk rock (Hardcore?) band from Ft. Pierce Florida in 1984-1986. Their shows were typically wrought with incident; car wrecks, arrests, chainsaws, fights, mayhem,,,but it was all in good fun. We were silly and irreverent. Being that we were skateboarders and surfers, most of our fans were as well. This video/film by Bob X (Foul's drummer’s brother) titled Surviving The Abortion. The bulk of this was shot on 8mm film when we opened for Government Issue (of Dischord Records) and also a local “Battle of the Bands" event, that we were playing, just to troll. We took second place. Guest appearances by Casey Chaos of Amen (and others) and The Razor (she sang backing vocals for GG Allin on Carmelita). It should be noted that Bob X used the music from the unreleased ICK ep. One of the tracks (New Hope For The Dead) appeared on the Florida Punk Explosion cassette. After I moved to NYC, Scot Lade took over on bass and Foul Existense was much better, as Scot is a brilliant musician who was in Disorderly Conduct and wedgepiece. These sessions were recorded by Kramer (Shimmy Disc, Butthole Surfers) in California, then finished in Arkansas back in 2006. Sleepy and his acoustic Martin guitar. Tampa,1991 Ponk Media 2024-03-21 | This is a RARE conversation, possibly the only recorded conversation that exists, of GG Allin and The Razor (who sang back-up vocals on Carmelita, Pick Me Up on you way down, Snakeman’s Dance, This Room) and myself chatting about the Carnival of Excess recordings, but also the band name that was discarded and the backing vocals for Snakeman’s Dance, from the album. GG Was paroled to the Ann Arbor YMCA in Michigan at the time. GG also give a little shout out to the one and only, David Allen Coe. The pictures in the video were primarily from the time I met up with GG at Jeff Clayton’s place when he did the vocals for the Antiseen album. They are from the photo shoot I did, the Repo Records in store and also when GG was being interviewed in Jeff’s living room that weekend. There are some pictures from Tampa mixed in as well. GG Allin Played Club Space Fish in Orlando w/o Dee Dee Ramone. Got Busted and sent to Jackson Prison Ponk Media 2024-03-13 | On November 18th 1991, GG Allin and The Murder Junkies came to Orlando Florida to play Club Space Fish. The night was filled with everything one would imagine at a GG show. GG and the band did a great set, but GG and Dino got arrested for various charges. GG eventually was extradited back to Jackson Prison, in Jackson Michigan, where he was incarcerated on previous charges. His actual extradition came a few months later after a show in Texas. Space Fish put GG back in the authorities eyes. Dee Dee Ramone was rehearsing with the band before the tour started, but at the last minute decided not to go out on tour with GG and the band. Ponk Media 2024-03-06 | One of the things that Tiny and I would do when we had some down time from the recording sessions, is that we would go to the park(s) in the area, where Tiny would sing songs and enjoy the Florida fresh air. In this instance, Tiny is paying tribute to the late great Al Jolson by doing a ukulele rendition of Hallelujah, I'm a Bum. Classic stuff by Tiny! Tiny was in Tampa (in 1994) recording his epic-- Prisoner of Love (a tribute to Russ Columbo). Tiny was a long way from his hit, Tiptoe Through the Tulips, but his musical spirit never faltered. I will be uploading more Tiny Tim content from our time together in Tampa, so check back! Thanks for the support!In 1968, Tiny Tim, known for his high-pitched singing, released a popular song called "Tip Toe through the Tulips." With just his ukulele, Tiny Tim sang this tune, and it became a hit. He even appeared on famous TV shows like Rowan and Martin’s Laugh In and the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. The song itself, written by Al Dubin and Joe Burke way back in 1929, was a big success then too, staying at number one on the charts for ten weeks. It's about wanting to meet someone in a tulip garden for a romantic kiss under the moonlight.
