How do you break a spirit of fear off your life? In week two of Fight the Good Fight, Pastor Josh Howerton teaches verse by verse through 2 Timothy 1:6-18 and walks through the four things the Apostle Paul told a young, frightened pastor named Timothy about living free from fear.
There is a difference between feelings of fear that are on you and a spirit of fear that gets in you. One is normal. It keeps you alive. The other starts telling you where you're allowed to go, what you're allowed to do, when you're allowed to sleep, and eventually whether you're allowed to obey God.
This message covers what the Bible says about fear and anxiety, why Christians are often surprised when following Jesus gets harder instead of easier, how catastrophizing works and why God's mercies arrive when you need them rather than in advance, and the specific scriptures to answer the lies fear tells you.
