Between 1941 and 1944, the P-40 played an important role with Allied air forces in three major theaters: North Africa, the Southwest Pacific, and China where it served as an air superiority fighter, bomber escort and fighter-bomber. The P-40 remained in frontline service until the end of the war. The maiden flight of the P-40 took place on the 14th of October 1938. The Martin B-26 Marauder was a twin-engined medium bomber built by the Glenn L. Martin Company in 1939.The B-26 had an unlucky start when it was rushed into service with the United States Army air force in 1941, experiencing a high accident rate during takeoffs and landings which contributed to its reputation as the Widowmaker the Baltimore Whore, and the Flying Prostitute. The B-26 was designed to land at a speed of 140 mph (225 km/h) on short final runway approach which was too much for a rookie to handle making it a deathtrap to the unexperienced and unwary pilot. The aircraft would stall and crash. The crew consisted of pilot, co-pilot, bombardier, three gunners, one radioman, an engineer and an armorer. After facing many accidents the United State Army Air Force decided to re-train the crew and improve the aerodynamic design, making this grand old lady the chief bombardment weapon of the Western Front, ending World War II with the lowest loss rate of any USAAF bomber. The maiden flight of the B-26 took place on the 25th of November 1940 and introduced to the USAAF in 1941. Primary users were the United States Army Air Force, French Free Air Force, Royal Air Force and the South African Air Force. There were 5,288 B-26 produced between February 1941 and March 1945. The X-15 was composed of an internal structure of titanium and a skin surface of a chrome-nickel alloy known as Inconel X. The X-15 carrying only 90 seconds worth of fuel could reach Mach 5+ and altitudes between 100,000 and 300,000 feet. The X-15 was designed to be carried aloft and drop launched from under the wing of a NASA B-52 mother ship and released at an altitude of about 8.5 miles (13.7 km) and a speed of about 500 miles per hour (805 km/h).In 1960 it set speed and altitude records in the 1960s, reaching the edge of outer space and returning with valuable data used in aircraft and spacecraft design. The X-15 holds the official world record for the highest speed ever recorded by a manned, powered aircraft reaching a top speed of 4,520 miles per hour (7,274 km/h), or Mach 6.72. The X-15 was a major contributor to the development of the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo piloted spaceflight programs and the Space Shuttle program.

The Douglas C-133 Cargomaster is an American large military Turboprop transport aircraft manufactured by Douglas Aircraft Company.
The C-133 has large tail doors and side doors and a large open cargo area. There were Fifty built between 1956 and 1961.
Primary users were the USAF and NASA. The maiden flight of the C-133 Cargomaster was on the 23rd of April 1956.

The CAC Boomerang manufactured by the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation was a Single-seat interceptor and ground attack fighter aircraft designed by Lawrence Wackett and Fred David, based on the Wirraway trainer aircraft. The Commonwealth CA-12 Boomerang fighter made its maiden flight on the 29th of May 1942, only fourteen weeks after they were ordered By the Royal Australian Air Force.
The Boomerang was powered by Pratt & Whitney 1,200 hp Twin Wasp engines with a Max speed of 305 mph at 15,000 ft. and a Service ceiling of 29,000 ft. with an Initial rate of climb, 2,940 ft. /min. It had extensive amour plating and a wood and aluminum airframe with an overall length of just 7.7 meters (25.5 ft.) and an 11 m (36 ft.) wingspan and could carry two 20 mm Hispano or CAC manufactured cannons. Four 0.303 Browning machine-guns. Bombs could be substituted when the large drop tank was not carried.
The Royal Australian Air Force accepted the first Boomerang, A46-1, on the 15th of July 1942, and made its first enemy contact on May 16, 1943, when Boomerangs from the No 84 Squadron intercepted and drove off three Betty bombers. The first combat test for a CAC Boomerang was on May 20th, 1943 when Number 85 Squadron scrambled to intercept Japanese bombers off Exmouth, Western Australia.
A total of 250 Boomerangs were built between 1942 and 1945. The last Boomerang A46-249 was delivered on the 1st of February 1945.
Even though the boomerang was not the best fighter it played a crucial role defending Australia and became an important part of Australian Aviation history at one of the most vulnerable time of Australia when it was facing invasion and isolation during the Second World War.

Brief History
The Focke-Wulf 190 Wurger was a German single-seat, single-engine monoplane fighter designed by Kurt Tank and used by the Luftwaffe during the Second World War. The Fw 190A started flying operationally over France in August 1941 and served in a variety of roles, such as air superiority fighter, strike fighter, ground-attack aircraft, escort fighter serving on all the German fronts: Eastern Front, Western Front, North African Campaign and the Defence of the Reich. The Fw 190 carried 2 × 13 mm (.51 in) synchronized MG 131 machine guns with 475 rounds per gun and 4 × 20 mm MG 151/20 E cannon with 250 rpg, synchronized in the wing roots and 140 rpg free-firing outboard in mid-wing mounts. The Fw 190 was well-liked by its pilots. Some of the Luftwaffe's most successful fighter aces claimed a great many of their kills while flying it. There were over 20,000 Fw 190 including variant Ta152 built between 1941 and 1945. The Fw 190 Retired from service to the Luftwaffe in 1945 and to the Turkish Air Force in 1949.

The 474th became the first USAF operational wing equipped with the General Dynamics F-111 In March 1968. The F-111 Aardvark was first delivered to the US Air Force on the 29 of December 1966 and assigned to the USAF Flight Test Center (Air Force Systems Command), Edwards AFB, CA on 9 Jan 1967 for weapons testing. After reaching an initial operational capability just before spring in 1968, the Air Force leaders decided to rush a small detachment of F-111A’s version to Southeast Asia under a program known as "Combat Lancer". Six 428th TFS F-111A’s were allocated to the Combat Lancer program, and departed Nellis AFB for Takhli RTAFB on 15 March 1968. 55 night missions had been flown against targets in North Vietnam, but two aircraft had been lost. Replacement aircraft had departed Nellis, but the loss of a third F-111A (66-0024) on April 22 halted F-111A combat operations. While the aircraft remained poised for combat, they saw little action before their return to the USA in November 1968. It turned out that the three F-111A losses were not due to enemy action but were caused by wing and tail structural defects. However, the Air Force and General Dynamics remained hard at work trying to fix the problems with the F-111A. Modifications to the F-111 to correct the design flaws took a lot longer than expected, and the Wing was not fully operational until July 1971. In 1972 the USAF contracted with Grumman to convert 42 existing F-111As into electronic warfare aircraft. The EF-111A can be distinguished from the F-111A by the equipment bulge atop their tails. In May 1998, the USAF withdrew the final EF-111As from service, placing them in storage at Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center. The F-111 was replaced by the F-15E Strike Eagle for medium-range precision strike missions. The RAAF was the last operator of the F-111, serving until December 2010. When the Hindenburg was in the process of completion, Paul Joseph Goebbels who was a German politician and Reich Minister of Propaganda in Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945 wanted the Hindenburg to be named Adolf Hitler, even though he Hindenburg was completed with the financial support of the Nazi government, Dr. Hugo Eckener the manager of the Luftschiffbau Zeppelin and the commander of the famous Graf Zeppelin refused to name it after Hitler and named the airship after the president of Germany, Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg (1847-1934). Even though Dr. Hugo Eckener refused to name it after Adolf Hitler, the rudder of the Hindenburg would eventually have the swastikas emblazoned on its tail fins symbolizing the Nazi power. This led to continuing bomb threats which led to suspicions of sabotage in the Hindenburg disaster on May 6, 1937. The cause of the explosion of the Hindenburg has never been determined. During World War II, the USAF air units operated primarily in the Southwest Pacific Theater as part of Fifth Air Force. When the air unit arrived in Brisbane, Australia, in April 1942, three squadrons were assigned: the 35th, 36th and 80th Pursuit Squadrons. Since fighting became the new objective, the unit took on the new designation of the 8th Fighter Group. During the course of World War II in the Pacific, the 8th participated in battles in Port Moresby, Nadaab, Owi, Zamboanga, the Philippines, Minadoro, Ie Shima and Japan. The Group participated in nine campaigns and received two Distinguished Unit Citations. The 8th spawned twenty-seven "Aces" and accounted for destroying 449 enemy aircraft during World War II.
The 8th Fighter-Bomber Wing (35th, 36th, and 80th Fighter-Bomber Squadrons), based at Suwon Air Base, was the longest-serving F-80 unit in Korea. It began missions from Japan in June 1950 and continued to fly the Shooting Star until May 1953, when it converted to F-86 Sabres.
Of the 277 F-80s lost in operations (approximately 30% of the existing inventory), 113 were destroyed by ground fire and 14 shot down by enemy aircraft. F-80s are credited by the USAF with destroying 17 aircraft in air-to-air combat and 24 on the ground.

1. 35th Fighter-Bomber Squadron has three black or dark blue stripes on the tail. The 35th Fighter-Interceptor Group and two squadrons, the 39th and 40th FIS, went to Pohang, Korea in July 1950, but converted to the P-51 Mustang before the end of the year. 2. 36th Fighter-Bomber Squadron has three red stripes on the tail. In June 1950, the 36th found itself in the fight from the beginning of the conflict. Flying F-80 Shooting Stars, the squadron attacked advancing North Korean tanks, trucks, artillery, and troops. The unit later converted back to the piston-engined P-51 Mustang, 3. 80th Fighter-Bomber Squadron has three yellow stripes on the tail. Major Charles J. Loring, Jr. was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions while flying an F-80 with the 80th Fighter-Bomber Squadron, 8th Fighter-Bomber Wing on 22 November 1952. 4. 8th Fighter-Bomber Squadron has a yellow band near the top of the tail and a yellow wave on the nose section. The 8th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, later redesignated 15th TRS, served from 27 June 1950 at Itazuke, Japan, Taegu (K-2) and Kimpo (K-14), Korea, until after the armistice. The squadron also utilized a few converted RF-80Cs and RF-86s.

The P-51 Mustang also saw its action during World War II and during the Korean War. The maiden flight of the P-51 Mustang took place on the 26th of October 1940 and it went into service on January 1942. Primary users were the United States Army Air Forces, Royal Air Force and Chinese Nationalist Air Force. There were more than 15,000 P-51 Mustang produced. The P-51 Mustang retired from military service 1984. Cost per unit was approx. 50,985 USD in 1945.

America made aviation history on November 3, 2014 when Navy test pilot Cmdr. Tony Wilson conducted the first arrested landing with the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) flight deck.
The arrested landing was part of an initial at-sea Developmental Testing I (DT-I) for the F-35C, which was a two week program divided into a three phase plan which initially started on the 3rd of November 2014.
The F-35C is designed to stand up to harsh shipboard conditions while delivering a lethal combination of fighter capabilities to the fleet.
Lt. Gen. Chris Bogdan, F-35 Program Executive Officer “said: For months, we've been working with the Nimitz crew, Naval Air Forces, and our industry partners, Lockheed Martin and Pratt & Whitney, as well as their suppliers, to prepare and train for this event. We plan on learning a lot during this developmental test and will use that knowledge to make the naval variant of the F-35 an even more effective weapons platform." This will be one landing out of thousands more that will happen over the next few decades.
The US Navy together with its partners are looking at making the fifth-generation fighter fully capable and ready to deploy the F-35 jet Fighters on to Navy's aircraft carriers in 2018. And by the year 2025 the US Navy aircraft carrier-based will consist of F-35C, F/A-18E/F Super Hornets, EA-18G Growlers electronic attack aircraft, E-2D Hawkeye battle management and control aircraft, MH-60R/S helicopters and Carrier Onboard Delivery logistics aircraft.
