Rat hippocampal slice: HD MEA and Standard MEA Comparison 3Brain 2021-02-26 | The video shows a recording of neuronal activity in an acute rat hippocampal slice. The color map depicts the electrode array configuration. Thereby each pixel represents one electrode of the respective MEA configuration. On the left, the original recording with 3Brain's HD-MEA featuring 4096 electrodes. On the right, the same recording but down-sampled to the electrode configuration (number of electrodes, electrodes distance and electrode size) of a standard MEA with 64 electrodes. The higher density of electrodes provides a superior spatial resolution compared to the standard MEA. The high spatial resolution makes it possible to extract many additional metrics of network dynamics (e.g. signal propagation velocity).
