Officer Shot Sheriff Lombardo Briefing Las Vegas Metropolitan Police 2022-10-13 | On October 13, 2022, at approximately 1:08 a.m., LVMPD Dispatch received a call of adomestic disturbance in the 800 block of East Flamingo Road. Arriving officers contacted thesuspect vehicle near the intersection of University Center and Flamingo. The suspect, lateridentified as 24-year-old Tyson Hampton, was armed with a firearm and fired at the officers.The two officers discharged their duty weapons. An officer and a citizen were struck by gunfireand were transported to a local hospital. The citizen is currently being treated. Officer TruongThai was pronounced deceased at the hospital.Hampton fled the area and was later taken into custody by officers with the assistance of the K9unit near Desert Inn and Eastern. He was transported to Clark County Detention Center afterreceiving medical attention.This is the 10th officer-involved shooting of 2022. Per LVMPD policy, the identity of the officersinvolved will be released after 48 hours.This is an ongoing investigation. Overton Rescue by Air Unit Sept. 14, 2022 Las Vegas Metropolitan Police 2022-09-14 | HELICOPTER RESCUERaging flood waters hit the northeastern part of Clark County last night.Around 2 a.m., LVMPD received reports of people trapped in their vehicle in the Overton area.In fact, an older couple had pulled off the highway to get some rest. But a short time later, torrential rain sent floodwaters in their direction.This is video taken by our LVMPD Northeast Resident Section officers who worked in coordination with our Air Unit and Search and Rescue to save lives.The Air Unit arrived just in time as the couple's van filled with water to about chest level. They were hoisted out of the van and brought to safety.

LVMPD Investigates 8th OIS of 2022 Las Vegas Metropolitan Police 2022-09-10 | On September 10, 2022, at approximately 1:13 a.m., officers conducted a vehicle stop on a sports utility vehicle occupied by multiple individuals near Flamingo Road and University Center Drive. During the vehicle stop, one of the individuals fled from officers on foot. An officer pursued the suspect and during the chase there was an exchange of gunfire. Both the officer and the suspect were struck. The suspect was transported to Sunrise Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The officer was transported by arriving officers to UMC Trauma and is currently in stable condition. This is the 8th officer-involved shooting of 2022. Per LVMPD policy, the identity of the officers involved will be released after 48 hours.This is an ongoing investigation. Man Found Deceased Outside of Home - Update-Photo of Suspect Vehicle Las Vegas Metropolitan Police 2022-09-06 | On September 3, at approximately 10:33 a.m., LVMPD Dispatch received a call of an unresponsive man outside of a residence located in the 7200 block of Bronze Circle. Arriving officers and medical personnel pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.The LVMPD Homicide Section is currently investigating the incident.The identification of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.“We take this case very seriously and our investigators have been working non-stop to identify and apprehend the suspect. We enacted our Major Case Protocol immediately following our initial response and are using all LVMPD resources to maximize the progress of this investigation.” Captain Dori Koren.Now we are asking for the public’s help. During the investigation, detectives were able to locate images of the suspect. At this time, it appears the suspect was potentially casing the area to commit other crimes before the homicide occurred. Detectives Seek Help to Identify Attempted Murder Suspect Las Vegas Metropolitan Police 2022-07-25 | On July 24, 2022 at approximately 2:30 p.m., the LVMPD responded to a robbery at aresidence near the 2800 block of Faiss Drive. Officers learned the victim was returninghome and parked his vehicle in the garage. At the same time, an unidentified suspectapproached the victim in the garage and demanded property. The victim ran away andthe suspect chased him with a firearm trying to shoot him, however the firearm failed tofire. The suspect then ran to a vehicle parked nearby and fled the area.The suspect is a Black male, 18-25 years old, last seen wearing a white t-shirt, darkpants, and white athletic shoes. Homicide Detectives Seek the Publics Assistance Las Vegas Metropolitan Police 2022-07-15 | LVMPD Homicide detectives are asking for the public's assistance in solving the murder of Angel Montano. On July 3rd, Angel attended a social media-promoted birthday party in the backyard of 5100 E. Wyoming Avenue. At around 1:30 am, LVMPD responded to the residence after receiving multiple calls stating that shots were fired at the house party. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim in the backyard with a gunshot wound. Angel was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital. Pill Roulette - One Pill Can Kill Las Vegas Metropolitan Police 2022-05-10 | In response to the alarming number of drug-overdose deaths among youth, the LasVegas Metropolitan Police Department is launching a social media campaign about thedangers of counterfeit pills. Fentanyl is showing up in drugs and pills coming across theborder from Mexico. Teenagers think they’re taking a prescription pill, but the DrugEnforcement Administration says 40% of counterfeit pills coming into the United Statescontain deadly amounts of fentanyl.Clark County experienced a 196% increase in fentanyl-related overdoses between2019 and 2020. Adding to the alarm, LVMPD narcotics detectives see a growingnumber of middle school kids trying pills, not realizing the deadly consequences. In2020 and 2021, Clark County lost 16 kids under age 18 to fentanyl overdose.Detectives say many of the victims had no idea what was in the pills they took.LVMPD’s social media campaign aims to warn teens as the summer kicks in andparties ramp up. Teens are encouraged to share the videos with their friends. Parentsare encouraged to talk to their kids about the dangers of taking any pills that are notprescribed to them by their doctor.LVMPD requests our media partners help spread the word by sharing the videos onsocial media, websites, and on air.
