Plastic bottle Electroscope experiment
updated
I did this experiment in 2010.
This time, I measured the current using a DC clamp meter from GVDA.
The maximum current flows 6.3A.

The principle is that when a fire breaks out and heat is transferred to the aluminum bottle, the internal pressure rises.
There is no standby current, the battery can be used for a long time.

The three-phase alternating current generates a rotating magnetic field, which causes the aluminum can to rotate due to eddy currents.
Static electricity is high voltage.
The high-voltage transmission tower periodically changes its polarity so Electrostatic Polarity Detector is two LEDs appear to on.
In fact, they alternately turn on and off 60 times per second. (60Hz AC)
Sensitivity has been improved compared to the previous version.
The output from the FDS8958A was amplified using a transistor.
Another advantage is that the anode and cathode sensitivities are approximately the same.
The previous version had much higher anode sensitivity.

I made several Triac switching circuits and observed its behavior.
At DC, it operated like a thyristor.
Small electric spark generated due to electrostatic induction.
Do not try this. If you touch power lines, you may be electrocuted and your life will end.

Firecrackers can be ignite itself with this device.
It can be used as an educational purpose for science subjects related to potential energy conversion.
It can also be used as an intrusion alarm or a theft alarm.
Firecrackers or buzzers can be connected as needed.
0.1mm nichrome wire was used to ignite the fireworks.
The measured voltage can be changed by changing the series resistance of the voltmeter.
For accurate test, load resistor must be connected.(50~100ohm)
It can be conveniently used in places where batteries are used in large quantities.
The electroscope is a device that detects static electricity.

Therefore, at a temperature lower than -1°C, it is in a liquid state.
The butane gas boiling point depends on the pressure.
I tried some interesting experiments using liquid butane gas.
So, I made a simple BLDC Motor driver circuit and tested it.

The combustion formula of butane gas is C4H10 + 6.5O2 = 4CO2 + 5H2O
Butane : Oxygen Volume ratio = 1 : 6.5
The air is contain 20% of O2.
Butane : Air = 1 : (6.5 ÷ 0.2) = 1 : 32.5
3% of butane gas in the butane gas combustion chamber is suitable.
500mL × 0.03 = 15mL
It can be used to prevent inrush current in large lighting control circuit or rectifier circuit.

DC voltage has no zero crossing point, the arc hardly disappear.
So the switch will be damaged.
But there is no change in appearance.
This type of motor can be found in microwave turntable motor.
Non-contact voltage testers work by sensing a very small amount of current that is capacitively coupled from the live circuit to the tester and back to ground. Non-contact voltage testers light up when they detect this current without needing to make direct contact.
A built-in sensor at the tip of the tester detects the presence of voltage when touching a conductor, outlet, or supply cord. By holding the tool, you are the ground reference through capacitive coupling. When the tip glows red and the unit beeps, you know voltage is present.
When one pole of microwave turntable motor touches the human body, it becomes grounded, and the other wire generates a voltage to the ground.
220v ac synchronous motor(from microwave turntable motor) can generates 350V AC voltage & 2mA current. So, you can test non-contact voltage testers using microwave turntable motor.
This type testers can detect only AC voltage. If the unknown voltage is DC high voltage, it cannot be detected.
A small magnet can be used to detect the magnetic field. (Only AC current)

However, since this product uses activated carbon, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide are released.
Both gases are harmful to the human body, so care should be taken when using them in confined spaces.

It is toxic to animals that use hemoglobin as an oxygen carrier (both invertebrate and vertebrate) when encountered in concentrations above about 35 ppm.
In the United States, the OSHA limits long-term workplace exposure levels above 50 ppm.
The alarm can be triggered when the portable gas burner runs out of fuel.
This is homemade Butane Gas Explosion Chamber.
You can demonstrate Danger of butane gas explosion with this device.
The DC Clamp meter can also be used to check the polarity of a magnet.
This video shows you how to check the LED light panel using a DC 110V motor.
In addition, it can be used to check small light bulbs and LEDs.
In this video, twenty of 12V car bulbs connected in series and powered by AC 220V main voltage.
Quickly find a failed bulb using a non-contact detector.
Warning!
Non-contact voltage detector is only working AC voltage. So, can not detect DC Voltage. Do not judge the risk with a non-contact detector alone.
