What is an NDE?
A near-death experience (NDE) is typically a profound, life changing, intensely emotional experience that usually occurs during a clinical crisis and has common characteristics and aftereffects. It is not a dream, hallucination, or mental illness (Greyson, 1983). There are no predictive variables to identify who will have an NDE. They happen to people of all ages, religions, socio-economic groups, cultures, educational backgrounds, and belief systems. They occur under a variety of circumstances such as accidents, near-drownings, illnesses, combat, surgical procedures, and childbirth. Following an NDE, experiencers (NDErs) often display some common aftereffects. Research has established a set of common NDE characteristics and long-term aftereffects. Theories used to explain near-death experiences in purely physical terms have been proven inadequate by NDE researchers and others.
Peter Panagore's profound encounter with the Divine and others led him to dedicate his life to sharing the message of Love, Light, and the Soul's eternal nature. He spent fifteen years writing stories of hope and inspiration on two NBC-TV News Stations across Maine and New Hampshire, has practiced Centering Prayer, meditation, and Kriya Yoga for forty years, and now hosts Not Church: Mysticism No Doctrine No Dogma live on his YouTube Channel, where he deconstructs the Bible in light of his near-death experiences.

Efrat also shares how to navigate the integration process, why skeptics should start with direct energy practices, and what it means to raise children as luminous beings, honoring their high frequencies and authentic paths. We explore love as a state of being (not emotion), ethics in spiritual work, shamanic practices, and the meaning of life as the expression of our soul’s essence—here, now, on Earth, so be sure to watch until the end!

Her NDE revealed the truth of our soul’s journey: recurring life patterns, ancestral trauma carried in DNA, and the power of consciousness to heal. Cherie describes the afterlife as expansive, filled with unconditional love, oneness, and guidance, shattering her lifelong fear of death.
Returning to her body, she endured years on life support and a bionic heart but held onto her NDE promise of full recovery and spiritual purpose. She now teaches how to transform trauma into transcendence, embody forgiveness, and reconnect spirit and body. This talk explores near-death awareness, reincarnation, grief as a gateway, epigenetics, and practical spiritual integration.

In this powerful talk from the 2024 IANDS Conference, Anita challenges the mindset of skeptics and those who claim to debunk NDEs. She explains that while healthy skepticism is useful, Western education and culture often equate intelligence with debunking anything outside material reality. This mindset, she argues, cuts us off from a vital part of who we are — our spiritual awareness. Anita emphasizes that we live in two worlds simultaneously: the physical world of fear and limitation, and the spiritual world of love, connection, and infinite awareness.
Anita also reflects on the cultural and social struggles that shaped her. Growing up as an ethnic Indian girl in Hong Kong under traditional expectations, she was pressured into an arranged marriage and raised to be subservient, even as she longed to be independent and authentic. These cultural tensions, along with fear of failure, illness, and disapproval, dominated her life until her NDE revealed a greater truth: love and authenticity matter more than fear or conformity.

Swedenborg’s extraordinary 18th-century journey took him from being a celebrated scientist and inventor to a daily explorer of the spiritual world. Curtis shares how Swedenborg’s detailed visions mirror modern near-death experience (NDE) accounts, offering timeless wisdom about life after death, angels, divine love, and the connection between the physical and spiritual realms. In Swedenborg’s unique perspective on the afterlife, love shapes communities, consciousness shapes reality, and heaven is a state of mind rooted in service to others.

IANDS is a membership nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to advance global understanding of NDEs and related experiences through research, education, and support. We envision a future in which all people embrace near-death and related experiences as a source of meaning and inspiration for a better world. We believe NDEs can transform an individual’s life, influence the sciences, and embolden society. Today, IANDS engages in far more than research and has members from around the world. We invite you to consider becoming a member of IANDS. To learn more about near-death experiences, visit iands.org.

In this episode Dani Foffa talks to spiritual journalist, researcher, and author AJ Parr, who shares the extraordinary story of the night he stopped breathing in his sleep and entered a timeless realm of void, light, and oneness. Upon returning, he received profound revelations about God, the creation story, and the hidden secret behind spirituality. This experience led him to spend the next three decades exploring the common roots of the world’s major religions — and, more recently, their striking parallels with near-death experiences (NDEs).
AJ is an IANDS group facilitator, a senior consciousness researcher with the Institute for the Scientific Study of Consciousness (ISCC), and the author of more than 20 spiritual books, including two focused on NDEs — his most recent featuring a foreword by Dr. Raymond Moody. He has interviewed over 150 near-death experiencers and afterlife researchers on his AJ Parr Spiritual Journalist YouTube channel.
He is also the founder of the Near-Death Experience & Spiritual Awakening Facebook group, with more than 145,000 members worldwide, and the CEO of Grapevine Books, a publishing company dedicated to helping independent authors write and publish their spiritual books on Amazon.
In this episode, AJ shares some of the comparative research he has conducted and explores surprising similarities between ancient religions and NDEs, so be sure to watch until the end!

In this episode Dani Foffa talks to doctor and afterlife researcher Dr. Piero Calvi Parisetti. Piero started originally working in humanitarian aid with the UN and Red Cross, he later became a professor of emergencies and humanitarian action, and in 2004 he started his exploration into the scientific evidence for life after death, leading to several acclaimed books. Today he is a researcher at the University of Northampton, and focuses on applying afterlife science to support the bereaved and dying. His unique, evidence-based approach to grief and end-of-life care blends science, psychotherapy, and compassion. He is a member of IANDS, of the Society for Psychical Research, and of the Scientific and Medical Network. In this episode we explore some of the most compelling scientific evidence that points to the fact that there is life after death, so be sure to watch until the end!

Bill is the most-watched NDEr on YouTube, with nearly 20 million views across popular channels such as Coming Home, Shaman Oaks, and The Other Side NDE, and had a profound NDE following a duty-related exposure, during which he saw himself flying through a sea of euphoria filled with colorful, welcoming stars and orbs, and found himself in a kind of facility, where he encountered joyful Beings who told him he had to return to his life for some “important” things. Bill’s story is rooted in the idea that a near-death experience is an invitation for transformation and in this episode, he shares his remarkable journey and some of the incredible insights he has gained from it, so be sure to watch until the end!

In this episode Dani Foffa talks to afterlife researcher, former IANDS Board Member and creator of the world’s first and largest near-death experiences Facebook group, Ned Matinnia. Ned has been a seeker since childhood and his life was transformed after he discovered near-death experiences and mediumship. Today he works as a software engineer in Silicon Valley but his greatest passion is getting the word out about NDEs and their message of kindness, emphasising that unity and coming together across the world is the path to healing. In this episode, packed with insight and wisdom, we discuss what we can learn from the field of near-death studies about consciousness and the divine, whether NDEs are laying the groundworks for a more spiritually oriented society, and Dani introduces for the first time the concept of an “Afterlifer”, as someone who came to terms with the afterlife through scientific evidence, rather than through the traditional paths of Religion or Faith, so be sure to watch until the end!

In this episode Dani Foffa talks to Italian Top Death scientist Guidalberto Bormolini. He is a priest, monk, anthropologist, theologist, and thanatologist (death expert) who has enrolled in philosophy and theology courses at the Pontifical Gregorian University and obtained a licentiate in theological anthropology from the Theological Faculty of Central Italy in Florence. For years, he has been dedicated to educating people to see death through a different lens, giving lectures, courses, and seminars around the world. He leads a team of trainers focused on educating personnel in end-of-life care, with particular attention to spirituality. He is also the president of the non-profit association “Tuttoèvita” (all is life) which offers individual, professional, and group training programs to approach the theme of death and personal preparation for it. Father Guidalberto is a prominent figure in the field of Death Education in Italy and also served as the spiritual guide to Franco Battiato, one of the most iconic singer-songwriters in Italian pop music, so it was a true honour to have the opportunity to sit down with him.

Today, she is an esteemed author, speaker, and founder. Gloria is the woman behind the global hand signal released last year to help resource children under 16 in combating abuse and trafficking.
She founded Handing the Shame Back, a charity dedicated to adult survivors of child sexual abuse (CSA), and works to educate others on how to prevent CSA from occurring. She also hosts a YouTube and podcast channel of the same name, now reaching audiences in over 90 countries, featuring interviews and resources designed specifically for survivors.
Gloria has written three books: On Angel’s Wings, which details her childhood; Flightpath to Healing, an experiential guide for adult survivors; and Keeping Kids Safe, a roadmap for parents and teachers on how to protect children from grooming and sexual abuse.
