Gareth Jenkins helped create the bug-ridden software that inaccurately recorded shortfalls on sub-postmaster accounts, leading to more than 900 wrongfully prosecutions.
Mr Jenkins was used by the Post Office as an expert witness in sub-postmaster prosecutions – giving evidence in-person in the 2010 trial of sub-postmistress Seema Misra, who was pregnant when she was handed a 15-month prison sentence.
However, the organisation received legal advice in 2013 that warned Mr Jenkins’s failure to disclose bugs in the Horizon software “fatally undermined” his credibility as an expert witness.

Papers filed in the US District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands, an American territory in the Pacific Ocean, on Monday revealed Mr Assange will plead guilty to one felony charge in exchange for his immediate freedom.
The US Justice Department has agreed to drop 18 espionage charges against him – instead charging him only with conspiracy to obtain and disclose national defence information.
Under the terms of the deal, the journalist will be sentenced to 62 months in prison, but the five years he has already spent incarcerated in HMP Belmarsh in the UK will count against that period.
The agreement must be approved by a federal judge before it can take effect.

Nathan, meanwhile, does not. The undergraduate from Brentwood in Essex is part of a small but noticeable cohort of first-time voters giving their support to Farage’s hard-right party. According to Telegraph analysis, data from four major pollsters suggests as many as 16 per cent of 18 to 24-year-olds intend to vote Reform next week.
While support for the party among this cohort is dwarfed by the numbers planning to vote Labour (47 per cent), young voters’ support for Reform now appears to be as strong as their support for the Lib Dems (also on 16 per cent). Reform is also the party that has experienced the biggest surge in young voter support since the election was called - up from 4 per cent in May. The Conservatives are on five per cent in this age group, down from 13 per cent in May.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, the former Labour leader, now running as an independent, said he had been told “good luck” and “make sure you win” by former colleagues.
Mr Corbyn vowed to push Sir Keir Starmer, his successor as Labour leader, to the Left if he gets back into Parliament, including championing the end of the two-child benefit cap.
Mr Corbyn also criticised Sir Keir for not standing by a comment at the last election that he would make a “great prime minister”, calling the refusal to do so "odd".
The election battle in Islington North is one of the most closely watched of the campaign. It is seen as a microcosm of the wider split that exists between moderates and left-wingers in Labour.

The strike is believed to have hit the NIP-16 space communications complex, which houses a collection of large deep space tracking radars. A locally-sourced video appeared to show the site in flames, while residents told local media that ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
Another video showed the launch of several Atacms missiles from a site in Ukraine, with the rockets illuminating the night sky as they were fired towards Crimea.
Ukrainian officials are waiting for a battle damage assessment before confirming the attack, the Telegraph understands.

Reform had been beginning to drop a little in the opinion polls in the weeks before the snap election was called, but Mr Farage taking over sent support surging instead.

Ben Riley-Smith, The Telegraph’s Political Editor, takes a look at why, despite the ‘Farage Factor’, Reform is likely to struggle getting many MPs elected.

The Reform leader told a crowd in Cheshire today that Britain must leave the ECHR in order to “take back control” of the nation’s borders.
Mr Farage said: “We will never send any planes to Rwanda. We will never send anybody to Rwanda all while we are part of the court based in Strasbourg that was set up with the best intentions immediately after World War Two with huge support from people like Winston Churchill.
“But that court that has now become activist, that court that has now become interventionist, that court that is no longer fit for purpose, and that court that says we cannot control our own borders, who might be here and who we can get rid of.”
He added: “Of course the lofty barrister Sir Keir [Starmer], he loves all these international courts and Sunak hasn’t got the guts to deal with it because it would split his own party. But we are clear: we must leave the European Court of Human Rights and take back control.”
Reform pledged in its manifesto to leave the ECHR. Mr Sunak has hinted he could be prepared to quit the ECHR if it stood in the way of his Rwanda flights.
The Tories pledged in their manifesto: “If we are forced to choose between our security and the jurisdiction of a foreign court, including the ECtHR, we will always choose our security.”
