LES PAUL & MARY FORD - Runnin Wild (1956) Top 20 in San Diego verycoolsound 2016-02-10 | Yet another example of the unparalleled guitar artistry of Les Paul. Only reached No. 79 on a national chart, but got at least as high as No. 19 in San Diego.

Tish is the real deal, and we love this example of her talent. An A&M Americana single, but also on her "Homeland" album.

Mystery Country Singer - All Thats Wrong with You Tonight Is Me verycoolsound 2016-01-26 | Our upload just before this one, The Nodaens' "Beach Girl," features Dave Nowlen, and posting that track reminded us of a "Demo" cassette tape we've had since the mid-'90s, sent by Mr. Nowlen. It's purpose was to interest country singers in recording songs he'd written. We think this tune is very commercial, but find no record of it being recorded by anyone, other than on this tape. Because we like the song, and have no clue who the singer is, we're hoping someone will know her and speak up.
THE NODAENS - Beach Girl (1965) Real Beach Boys Connection! verycoolsound 2016-01-26 | Lead singer, and writer credited, of this tune is Dave Nowlen, a good friend of Brian Wilson's, and member of The Survivors, of "Pamela Jean" fame. We could not find this one posted, possibly because the original "Gold" label single has sold in the $600 - $800 range. Here it is, finally.

Music is by the Philadelphia Orchestra, conducted by Eugene Ormandy.The gorgeous dancers are obviously from another ballet, but we chose to borrow them for two minutes instead of using a still image, or worse yet, a black screen.

CANDY AND THE CORALS - I Should Have Loved You More / I Know (1967) verycoolsound 2015-11-11 | WBAY (Green Bay, Wisc.) listed both sides of this "Test" pressing at No. 34 this week, so we figured we should do the same — making it a twin spin. Love the tone of the guitar. Regional hits only, but, until now, surprisingly absent from YouTube. "I Know" (starts at 2:11) is a revival of the 1961 Barbara George hit.
THE ASTRONAUTS - Our Car Club (1964) Stereo! verycoolsound 2015-11-10 | This great cut from their "Competition Coupe" LP is about a car club whose members name their cars after girls named in 1950s and '60s records. Obviously not the same song as "Our Car Club" by the Beach Boys (1963).
THE FUTURAS - Storm Surf (1963) First Post of a Surf Rarity verycoolsound 2015-11-10 | The uptempo A-side, "Mile Zero," has been posted and is on several surf compilations. But this beautiful B-side has not been available anywhere that we know, until now. We always pull for the overlooked underdogs.
THE PAEGANS - I Only Want to Give You Everything (1967) verycoolsound 2015-11-09 | This record is mighty unusual in that it was a double sided, Top 5, regional hit, neither side of which made the national charts. On WROK (Rockford, Ill.), when "Good Day Sunshine" was No. 1, "I Only Want to Give You Everything" was No. 7. Meanwhile, over at WYFE (also Rockford), both sides were tied at No. 2. First time post for this side.
