It is meant to be used on stretch material but I'm testing it on some regular cotton. The same issue happens with stretch material.Update Nov. 21, 2022 The bunching problem shown in this video was caused by a burr on the needle plate catching the thread. Once I filed the burr away it sews in a continuous line without problem.

Singer 29K71 #1 as found Terry McClean 2022-08-26 | I picked up my first 29K71 last week. I've separated the sewing machine from the treadle base and am about to start cleaning. First though, I thought I'd try a test sew.I don't know when the machine was last used and if it was working properly then. Nothing has been cleaned, but I've oiled it and put in a new needle. Just using polyester thread from one of my domestic machines.In the video below, in my test sew the stitches look a little short and there is a lot of needle thread on the bottom.Are there any suggestions on things I could look for to correct this? Or should I just go ahead with a thorough cleaning?

6 Electa test sew with repaired needle plate Terry McClean 2021-02-21 | The hole in the needle plate had a piece of the back missing because of a needle strike. I plugged the hole with a tooth pick and filled the missing area with JB Weld (epoxy). I used an old sewing needle to apply the epoxy to the missing area. This is a test sew after the needle plate has been repaired.
