Agard Street, Derby - A street going through change - Part 5 Drone footage. Feb 2023 | 4K comedyhunter 2023-02-06 | In this latest update of my ongoing flights along Agard Street, Derby you can see that things have moved on a bit since my November flight over this street. The land formerly occupied by Sir Peter Hilton Court is being cleared of the rubble and the land flattened. The building next to the old tax office its nearing the end of build.the car park outside the Derby Jail looks like something happening there.This is my drone footage of Agard street in Derby, I've been driving down this street pretty much every day for 35 years and seen lots of changes in that time. Currently there are a lot of changes happening as buildings are are being cleared to make way for new developments.Sir Peter Hilton Court now completely demolished and will be replaced by a new business school run by the university, which it says will be home to the college of business law and social sciences.There are plans for 32 apartments, 166 apartments and 142 apartments.Best viewed on a large computer screen or smart TV as this is recorded in 4K resolution with great music so a real waste watching it on a small phone screen. Derby & Derbyshire Waste Treatment Centre (Sinfin incinerator EfW) by drone, Feb 2023 | 4K comedyhunter 2023-02-05 | This is my 4K drone footage of Derby & Derbyshire Waste Treatment Centre aka The Sinfin incinerator aka New Waste Treatment Facility (NWTF).The Sinfin waste plant was intended to divert 190,000 tonnes of rubbish per year away from expensive landfill by heat-treating it to produce a gas, which it would then burn to create enough electricity to power 14,000 homes. However, it became apparent that this was not possible and the plant was mothballed in 2019 before it could come into use.The plant was never brought into use, having failed preliminary testing. Duckworth Square shopping centre was demolished in 2003. Here are some of the shops and businesses there were Huckleberry Willow, Jon Bryan clothes shop, Records, Harlows, insurance brokers General Accident, Black Prince (named after the old cinema which used to stand on the site) and Rosco’s Bar, Sloppy Joe's, Burleys, Wimpy bar, Chelsea Girl, Tescos, Eden clothes shopI used to be a regular at The Pink Coconut in the early 90s even went to Christmas Eve and New Years Eve parties there.Part of the development will be a 3,500-capacity performance and conference venue "Becketwell Arena" 224 apartments in an 11-storey building, adjacent to a further five-storey building with more apartments and other mixed uses, together with offices, and full planning permission for a multi-use public square. 25,000 sq. m of new grade A offices and commercial space, a hotel and a multi-storey car park.The former Debenhams store on Victoria street was demolished in Summer 2020. As you can see its sound activated so can go in time to music or can be run manually. The Albion Square development in Hull by drone - Nov 2022 | 4K comedyhunter 2022-12-18 | This area of Hull (Kingston upon hull) is currently under redevelopment as Albion Square. This a simple drone flight to capture the area before its all changed so we have a record of how it looked.This includes the amazing Three Ships Mosaic Mural, made from 950,400 tiles!!! The mural is made from 4,224 panels, each 1 foot (30 cm) square and each containing 225 Tesserae - cubes of Italian glass - over one million in all. Agard Street, Derby - A street going through change - Part 4 Drone footage. Nov 2022 | 4K comedyhunter 2022-11-10 | In this latest update of my ongoing flights along Agard Street, Derby you can see that things have moved on a bit since my August flight over this street. The land formerly occupied by Sir Peter Hilton Court is being cleared of the rubble and the land flattened. The building next to the old tax office its nearing the end of build.the car park outside the Derby Jail looks like something happening there.This is my drone footage of Agard street in Derby, I've been driving down this street pretty much every day for 35 years and seen lots of changes in that time. Bass Recreation Ground Derby by drone - Flood alleviation scheme. Sept 2022 | 4K comedyhunter 2022-09-26 | There has been a lot going on at Bass's rec in the last few months, trees have been cleared to reveal the old Mill fleam so that a pumping station can be installed to prevent flooding.In my drone flight I will show you a current view of Bass’ Recreation Ground, this park was given to the people of Derby by Michael Thomas Bass, MP of Derby 1847-1883 (grandson of the founder of the famous brewery from Burton on Trent).This land carries a covenant which restricts its use to “be forever used and enjoyed by the inhabitants of the Borough of Derby for public play and recreation.”The land is 4 ½ hectares and contains a skate park and in the past has often been used by circuses and events such as Derby Feste. This triangle of land is surrounded on the north side by the river Derwent, to the west by the inner ring road (A601) and on the south by Station Approach (A6).There are two footbridges which connect to this land, one takes you over the Mill fleam and one takes you over the river Derwent.This is a little drone flight I did over the area so you can see what it looks like now (Sept 2022).60 trees were felled as part of plans for the next stage of the city's Our City Our River (OCOR) flood defence project. They have been cleated ready for the erection of a pumping station to protect Derby from future flooding as part of a £95 million project.The exposed former Mill race is used to take the culverted Markeaton Brook to the River Derwent.Some people have assumed this was the old Derby Canal but its not, The Derby canal ran parallel to this mill race. Becketwell development area (Pink Coconut now gone) Part 5. Sept 19th 2022 comedyhunter 2022-09-20 | This is my latest flight showing the Becketwell development two months on from my last video ( youtu.be/CvowLAeRH5c), on the site of the former Duckworth Square, Pink coconut nightclub and Pennine hotel.At 01:09 onwards you can see where the seats used to be located on the former Superama Cinema (Odeon Pennine Derby), The Superama Cinema opened on 9th February 1967 and closed on 31st October 1975.The Pink Coconut was demolished in Aug 2022Do you have any fond memories of Duckworth Square? Duckworth Square shopping centre was demolished in 2003. Here are some of the shops and businesses there were Huckleberry Willow, Jon Bryan clothes shop, Records, Harlows, insurance brokers General Accident, Black Prince (named after the old cinema which used to stand on the site) and Rosco’s Bar, Sloppy Joe's, Burleys, Wimpy bar, Chelsea Girl, Tescos, Eden clothes shopI used to be a regular at The Pink Coconut in the early 90s even went to Christmas Eve and New Years Eve parties there.Part of the development will be a 3,500-capacity performance and conference venue "Becketwell Arena" 224 apartments in an 11-storey building, adjacent to a further five-storey building with more apartments and other mixed uses, together with offices, and full planning permission for a multi-use public square. 25,000 sq. m of new grade A offices and commercial space, a hotel and a multi-storey car park.The former Debenhams store on Victoria street was demolished in Summer 2020. Amazing animated lights on Bridge Street, Peterborough. comedyhunter 2022-08-29 | On a recent visit to Peterborough I noticed these amazing LED covered trees on Bridge Street animated in blue and yellow lights, the colours of the Ukrainian flag.these lights were installed in March 2022.
Agard Street, Derby - A street going through change - Part 3 Drone footage. Aug 2022 | 4K comedyhunter 2022-08-25 | In this latest update of my ongoing flights along Agard Street, Derby you can see the street is closed, this is due to the major water main busting at 5:30am on 17th August, here we are 8 days later and its still not been fixed. Agard street forms part of Derby's inner ring road so its a bit of a nightmare while its closed.This is my drone footage of Agard street in Derby, I've been driving down this street pretty much every day for 35 years and seen lots of changes in that time. Currently there are a lot of changes happening as buildings are are being cleared to make way for new developments.Sir Peter Hilton Court now completely demolished and will be replaced by a new business school run by the university, which it says will be home to the college of business law and social sciences.There are plans for 32 apartments, 166 apartments and 142 apartments.Best viewed on a large computer screen or smart TV as this is recorded in 4K resolution with great music so a real waste watching it on a small phone screen.
