Movieland Wax Museum - Buena Park - 2000 (Picture Movie) Retro Video Buzz 2024-08-28 | Here are some pictures at the Movieland Wax Museum as it was in 2000. I used an Olympus Brio D-230 digital camera capture these pictures. It's really sad this piece of history is gone, but as you can see in the pictures, it was time. Lots of the wax figures were in poor shape. The Movieland Wax Museum was the largest wax museum in the United States with over 300 wax figures in 150 sets. Located in Buena Park, California, it was for decades one of the most popular wax museums in the United States. It was located north of Knott's Berry Farm on Beach Boulevard (SR 39). (wikipedia)

King Kong 360 3-D 2012, Universal Studios Hollywood. Retro Video Buzz 2024-08-12 | Here is King Kong 360 3-D recorded with my Sony DCR-sx40 back in 2012 at Universal Studios Hollywood. King Kong 360 replaced King Kong Encounter which burned down in 2008. King Kong: 360 3-D made its debut on the Studio Tour, July 1, 2010 and in my opinion, doesn't compare to the original attraction, but we still enjoyed it none the less.
Tomorrowland Reopening - media night - Disneyland 1998 Retro Video Buzz 2024-06-14 | We were annual pass holders back then and were excited to see the newly updated Tomorrowland, but our main interest was Rocket Rods and Honey, I shrunk the audience. Although the new Tomorrowland wasn't as exciting as we thought it would be, it was still nice to see something new (even if most people didn't like the new update at the time). Sadly, we didn't get to ride Rocket Rods that night, but I managed to get some video of the Rocket Rod cars speeding around the track during the media frenzy of Opening day. I also managed to get some video of "Maynard" working the Honey I Shrunk The Audience attraction. (if you know, you know) lol.
Spring Mountain Ranch - Las Vegas Retro Video Buzz 2024-02-17 | We took our dog Monkey for a little walk around Spring Mountain Ranch today. I used the #rarevisionvhs app on my iPhone 13. I really like the way my videos come out with this app, so retro! I use this app when I want the look of a hi8 camera, but don't want to expose my Hi8 camcorder to the elements, lots of dust out here. Fontainebleau - Las Vegas, Christmas Day - 2023 Retro Video Buzz 2023-12-27 | We took a short tour of the newly opened Fontainebleau Casino on Christmas day. This place is HUGE! It's pretty nice, slots are spread out, no ones bumping you while you're playing. The food court was ok, but the pizza from Miami Slice was AMAZING! The Nowhere Lounge was really nice as well. My only gripe was trying to leave the parking structure! What a mess! Not sure what caused this traffic jam when leaving the resort.

Rocket Rods Testing / Space Mountain Queue- Disneyland 1998 Retro Video Buzz 2023-07-31 | Here we have some Hi8 footage of Rocket Rods testing, shot from inside Pizza Port back in 1998 before it's opening in May of 1998. I also recorded the inside of Space Mountain queue, I always though this was an interesting feature of that attraction. The video stops just before heading up into the main ascension of the ride. There's no way I could hold that huge camera steady much less record anything in the dark lol.

Volcano at The Mirage - 2023 Retro Video Buzz 2023-04-23 | Took out the old Sony DCR-SX40 Handycam to record the Volcano at the Mirage before it's gone forever. MY wife had never seen the volcano up close before and I haven't seen it since the 90's. It's sad to see it go, I really like that whole layout with the waterfalls, rock work and Dolphin statues. I think everyone out here was hoping they would keep the volcano along with the new Hard Rock hotel, but I guess they've decided o knock it down. So sad,, enjoy this video, was nice watching the show one last time. The Mirage opened with an artificial volcano attraction, located in front of the resort and It became a signature attraction for Las Vegas. The volcano, free to the public and visible to pedestrians, erupts regularly each night. Hard Rock also intends to construct a guitar-shaped hotel tower on the property, the new tower will replace the Mirage's volcano. (wikipedia)

This was shot back in Nov 2000, the resort was busy decorating for the Holidays. So many great things to do and look at back then.

Observatron - Tomorrowland, Disneyland 2000 Retro Video Buzz 2023-03-30 | Here is what replaced the Rocket Jets back in 1998, needless to say, it was disappointing. They named it, "Observatron" it is located above the former PeopleMover station. Observatron, is a sculpture that was intended to spin and play music every fifteen minutes, (which rarely happened lol). I'm sure lots of guests were also disappointed, but it's still a part of Disneyland history. You can also see Innoventions, Pizza Port. Chevron's Autopia was under construction at the time. So, Here it is in all it's glory! (I'm assuming it's still there, I haven't been to the park in years.)

I had no idea they claim it's haunted? Food is great, drinks are great, service is amazing. I recommend checking it out if you're ever in Las Vegas. Their dole whip is delicious! A 2009 Camcorder, in 2023? The Sony DCR-SX40. Retro Video Buzz 2023-02-27 | Shot a little footage with the Sony DCR-SX40 when I was out the other day. I still have fun using this camcorder, lens seems fuzzy to me though. I do like how the video has that retro analog feel, nice optical zoon. It's a nice small camcorder that can easily fit into a pocket. The Sony Handycam DCR-SX40 was released in 2009.

The All New Woody’s Roundup - Golden Horseshoe Saloon - Disneyland, 2000 Retro Video Buzz 2023-02-15 | I shot this video of Woody’s Roundup at the Golden Horseshoe at Disneyland in 2000. Using a Sony Handycam with Hi8 tape. Loved this movie and this show, Disney really did a good job back then with their costumes of movie characters. Was a great time. The final performance of The All-New Woody’s Roundup was on July 17, 2000, the 45th anniversary of the televised opening event of Disneyland—and, surprisingly, exactly three months before the scheduled October 17 video and DVD release of Toy Story 2. ENCHANT - Las Vegas Ballpark, 2022 Retro Video Buzz 2022-12-03 | We decided to check out Enchant at the Las Vegas Ballpark for the holidays, it was amazing! Lots to see, plenty of food and drink options as well as a holiday market place. There's also an Ice skating rink which added to the holiday festivities. It's pretty impressive to see all the work that was involved putting this together, all the lights, decorations. As long as we live in Las Vegas, I think this ill be an annual even we attend for sure!
