I upload the lyrics into Suno and experiment with dozens of musical styles and prompts until I find one that feels right.4. I create hundreds of images in Midjourney, choose the ones that best capture the feeling of the song, and animate them using Grok Agent.5. Finally, I bring everything together in After Effects.

The Shepherds Cage - Music Video From the Dust 2026-04-21 | We often talk about the cold floor. We tell stories of the bad food. We refer to the thickness of the walls.But after spending years studying the history—and having the unique experience of portraying Joseph Smith in film—I’ve become convinced that the physical conditions were not the true torture of Liberty Jail.The real agony was psychological. It was a specific, primal pain that I call "Impotent Fatherhood."While Joseph sat in that cell, he knew his people—his "flock"—were being driven from their homes in the dead of winter. He knew his own family was suffering. He could hear the reports of the violence, the exposure, and the fear.Imagine sitting in a cage. You hold the Keys of the Kingdom. You have the authority to seal on earth and in heaven. You have spoken with angels.And yet, you cannot unlock the iron door in front of you to save your people.Further, it seems the heavens have closed and God is nowhere to be found.To a father and a leader, the inability to protect is a fate worse than death. It's the agony of having "tied hands," of being locked in a "shepherd's cage."I further break down the historical and emotional context in this video.I believe it was this specific pressure—the crushing weight of helplessness—that wrung out the cry, "O God, where art thou?"It wasn't a cry of doubt. It was a cry of desperate, constrained love.As I've pondered on these agonies, I felt impressed to write the song, "The Shepherd’s Cage." Spring of Eighteen-Twenty - Video From the Dust 2026-04-09 | Most people know the story of Joseph Smith’s First Vision from the official 1838 account found in the Pearl of Great Price. But did you know Joseph actually left four different firsthand accounts during his life?Each one was written to a different audience, and each contains unique details that most of us rarely hear.For my new song, "Spring of Eighteen-Twenty," I didn’t want to choose just one version. I wanted to weave them all together into a single, chronological experience.Here is the history hidden in the lyrics:The Physical Struggle (Verse 1)In the famous 1838 account, Joseph describes a "thick darkness." But in his 1835 journal entry, he adds visceral physical details:His tongue swelled in his mouth so he could not speak.He heard footsteps walking up behind him.Lyric: "Knelt upon the ground to pray, but my tongue began to swell / Footsteps walking up behind me..."The Angels (Verse 2)We usually picture just the Father and the Son. However, the 1835 account explicitly states, "I saw many angels in this vision."Lyric: "And a host of many angels, surrounding them in flame."The Forgiveness of Sins (Verse 2)The earliest account (1832) wasn't about starting a church—it was about Joseph’s soul. In this version, the Lord tells him immediately that his sins are forgiven. It’s a tender, personal moment often lost in the later institutional retellings.Lyric: "One looked down and called me Joseph, said 'My son, thy sins are gone.'"The "Exact" Resemblance (Verse 2)The 1842 Wentworth Letter adds a fascinating visual detail: the two Personages "exactly resembled each other in features and likeness."Lyric: "In the fire I saw them standing, two who looked exactly same."The Future Promise (Verse 3)In the 1842 account, Joseph isn't just told the churches are wrong; he is promised that "the fullness of the gospel" would be made known to him in the future. It wasn't just a rejection of the old, but a promise of the new.Lyric: "Wait a while and I will show you, fullness of the truth to come."The ResultBy combining the 1832 (Redemption), 1835 (Angels & Struggle), 1838 (The Warning), and 1842 (The Promise), the story becomes fuller. The Linen and the Shame - Video From the Dust 2026-04-03 | While studying earlier this week, I was struck by a single verse and have been pondering it ever since."The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared unto Simon." Before the resurrected Christ appeared to his 11 apostles, He first came privately to Peter (Simon).What a tender experience that must have been for Peter. He had just denied the Lord three days before.I can only imagine the war of hope and shame playing through his mind.No doubt, Christ knew the importance of comforting and restoring Peter before he took his place as head apostle.While pondering Peter's perspective through such an experience, I was inspired to write this song, "the Linen and the Shame."Hopefully it touches a few of you as it has touched me.
