Whats Next for Great America? Insights from Passholder Survey! Coasting The Planet 2025-10-20 | Cedar Fair, now Six Flags, sometimes releases surveys to season passholders requesting feedback on future attraction concepts. While this is a common practice across the industry, Six Flags has a proven track record as of late of rides and attractions coming to their parks being taken directly from previous surveys. Last week, Six Flags Great America released such a survey, along with many other parks within the new merged Six Flags chain. The options presented for Great America were a giga coaster, a family multi-launch coaster, and a flying theater. Based in history, we can say with some confidence that these are concepts the park is actually looking into!Here, I will discuss my thoughts on each of these concepts, as well as where they could be located if the park decided to proceed with any of these options! My First Time at Universal Epic Universe! Best Universal Park? | 6.9.25 Vlog Coasting The Planet 2025-10-08 | The title says it all! On June 9th, 2025, the first day of my week-long Universal trip, I visited the brand Universal's brand new 3rd gate Orlando theme park, Epic Universe!It was certainly a unique experience to be able to experience a 100% brand new theme park in its opening year, which is why I was sure to get down there this year! While I'm a coaster enthusiast who enjoys all parks, there is certainly something special about the Disney and Universal parks, offering a thematic experience on a grand scale with energy and presentation that no regional theme park can match!Unfortunately a storm midway through the day did interrupt my ability to experience the outdoor attractions, but I was able to ride Mine-Cart Madness, both sides of Stardust Racers, Constellation Carousel, Battle at the Ministry, and Monsters Unchained, as well as watch the Untrainable Dragon show and the end of the night fountain show! I absolutely loved the cosmic theme of the park's central hub and how everything fit together, and thought each ride I experienced was category-defining. Raging Bull Transfer Track Action During Breakdown! | SF Great America 10.03.25 Coasting The Planet 2025-10-05 | As Raging Bull at Six Flags Great America reopened from its repaint on the evening of October 3rd, it unfortunately ran into many technical issues that put the ride down for most of a good chunk of the night. On one particular breakdown, the most extensive one, I was able to capture some cool footage of the coaster's transfer track moving empty trains in and out of storage, and wanted to specifically share some of this for my fellow ride operations nerds/geeks!On this particular breakdown, the ride faulted with red train in the station and yellow train parked directly behind it on the final break run (only two trains in operation this weekend). After a few minutes, the restart horn can be heard and red train is dispatched to allow the stranded riders to unload at the station platform. After a bit longer, the transfer track is moved to remove both trains from service, including backing yellow train out of the station. After extended work (about an hour), both trains are added back to the circuit and the ride is tested before reopening! As always, thank you for watching Coasting The Planet! Raging Bull is Back, But VERY Unreliable | 10.03.25 SF Great America Coasting The Planet 2025-10-05 | On Friday, August 3rd, Raging Bull reopened after its full repainting! Unfortunately, it experienced major downtime issues on its reopening evening, making it difficult to grab a ride. Regardless, the ride is running great, with the trims and midcourse still barely hitting and the train ripping through the course!I decided to do this little vlog/update hybrid to show you all it was reopened, and in this case, warn about the downtime! The ride broke down 3 times within 4 hours, one stranding riders on the midcourse, and another taking the ride down for nearly 90 minutes. Raging Bull Testing, Maxx Force Back Open! | SF Great America Update 9.27.25 Coasting The Planet 2025-09-29 | I didn't notice a ton going on around Six Flags Great America on my most recent visit September 27th, 2025, but still wanted to document a few developments!Raging Bull has completed its repaint, and is currently undergoing testing! Testing is unfortunately only with two trains, as the teal train is still nowhere to be seen. Maxx Force finally reopened last week after 3 months of downtime, and was running with two trains and almost no breakdowns on the 27th! This was awesome to see!On a more minor notes, it seems we are getting new signage on our parking tolls!I'm sure there's plenty I missed as I'm not as familiar with this park yet as my previous home park(s), but that will improve with time! Terror Twister 2 Offride but my phone cant autofocus | Six Flags Great America Coasting The Planet 2025-09-28 | Terror Twister 2 is a seasonal overlay to Chubasco, Six Flags Great America's Mack Rides Tea Cup ride, which operates during Fright Fest (the park's Halloween event). The pavilion is enclosed, and the ride is transformed into a wild experience with blasting electronic music, fog, lighting, and more! It has a reputation as the world's best tea cup ride, and i can certainly see why!I tried to capture a full ride cycle offride here, but unfortunately the autofocus on my phone camera (iPhone 16 Pro) couldn't keep up with what was going on. I'll try to remember to lock the focus next time! Universal Epic Universe Travel Vlog Feat. Fun Spot Orlando! | 6.08.25 Coasting The Planet 2025-09-22 | Yes, my series of vlogs from my trip to Universal Orlando for Epic Universe back in June is finally releasing, starting with this travel vlog and brief visit to Fun Spot Orlando!I wanted to capture a bit of the road trip vibe of my journey from Nashville, TN down to Orlando, FL, and capture my excitement as I reached the resort! Dollywood Announces NightFlight Expedition for 2026! The ride vehicles are themed as an invention of the family, a special vehicle able to fly, drive on the ground, and float on water! Fright Fest Welcome Show (Pumpkin King) | Six Flags Great America Coasting The Planet 2025-09-16 | During the Fright Fest Halloween event at Six Flags Great America, this show plays every 15 minutes at the front entrance reflecting pool to give guests a taste of what's to come inside the park! The animatronic Pumpkin King (which I did not expect) rises over the dyed-red pond to deliver a dramatic monologue, with some fog, fire, lights, and other effects I found fun! Maxx Force TESTING & Raging Bull Repaint! | SF Great America Update 9.13.25 Coasting The Planet 2025-09-15 | On September 13th, 2025, I recorded this park update video to give a quick look at the progress of some projects going on around the park, most notably the repaint of Raging Bull, which should be completed before the end of the season! Most excitedly however, after sitting quiet since the beginning of July, Maxx Force has finally begun running test cycles again! Hopefully we will see this wild launch coaster return to operation within the next few weeks. Minor updates include the B&M coasters returning to multi-train operations (thank the Lord), new LED lights in the first tunnel of Demon, and speakers throughout the queue and lift hill of Wrath of Rakshasa which will hopefully be used for enhanced theming. Sirens Curse Offride Footage | Cedar Point New-For-2025 Vekoma Tilt Coaster Coasting The Planet 2025-09-13 | In 2025, Cedar Point opened Siren's Curse, the first 2nd-generation Vekoma Tilt Coaster! While Gravity Max has been open in Taiwan for years, it used Vekoma's old track design. Siren's Curse gives our first look at what new-generation Vekoma is capable of delivering in tilt-coaster form! Let me just say, I was very impressed!The tilt track element itself is one of the most terrifying and viral coaster gimmicks of all time, but the rest of the layout is fantastic as well, with that perfect flow, element sequencing, and glass smoothness you expect from modern Vekoma. Additionally, the ride is upped by epic onboard audio and some of the best theming we've seen from the new Six Flags company. I love the ambience of of the area, which sets the tone perfectly for the ride, especially at night.This coaster also has one of the strangest histories ever, originally being fabricated for Energylandia, sold to Six Flags after that project was cancelled, slated for installation at Six Flags Mexico before a permitted issue arose, then moved to Cedar Point after the Six Flags-Cedar Fair merger. Cedar Point & Lake Erie Railroad Full Loop! | Cedar Point Train Ride Coasting The Planet 2025-09-09 | While Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio is primarily known for their roller coaster collection, they also have some other attractions, such as the Cedar Point & Lake Erie Railroad! This train ride travels in a loop around the back half of the park, starting near Millennium Force, traveling along Lake Erie to a second Frontier Town station, before crossing Gemini Midway and passing through some backstage areas before returning to Millennium Midway! Along the way, there are some fun "ghost town" set pieces featuring skeletons and some fun special effects I wasn't expecting!This POV video will show the full loop, starting from the Millennium Midway station. Cedar Point Sky Ride Full Onride (Both Directions) Coasting The Planet 2025-09-08 | Cedar Point is one of the last regional amusement parks in the United States to feature the once ubiquitous Von Roll Skyride! It sits at the center of the main entry midway, perfectly framing the park's impressive coaster skyline as you enter! On-ride, it offers spectacular views of Cedar Point's coasters, well as Lake Erie, and gives you a nice break from walking! The BEST European Park Ive Visited! (So Far) | Liseberg Vlog 5.29.25 Coasting The Planet 2025-09-07 | While on a family vacation to Scandinavia, I got a chance to visit one of my most anticipated European theme parks: Liseberg in Gothenburg, Sweden!This beautiful park is situated on a steep hillside in the middle of downtown Gothenburg, Sweden. As a huge Mack Rides fanboy, I was most excited to ride their amazing terrain launch coaster, Helix, but was surprised by the strength of the rest of the ride lineup! Luna is an amazing Vekoma family boomerang, Valkyria a shockingly strong B&M dive, and Balder surprisingly fun as my first Intamin Prefab!I'm a huge fan of interesting terrain usage and scenery in parks, and was continuously blown away by what Liseberg had to offer! My LAST Dollywood Vlog! (as my Home Park) | Dollywood 5.11.25 Coasting The Planet 2025-08-24 | For those who were not aware, after having Dollywood as my home park for over 4 years, I finally moved on. . .I was fortunate to accept and awesome job opportunity in Milwaukee, WI, which means I won't be nearby Dollywood anymore. While I'm very happy with my new hone park, Six Flags Great America, I certainly miss many elements of Dollywood, such as its southern charm, location in the hilly forests of East TN, great food, etc. This is the last vlog I ever recorded at the park before moving, on May 11th, 2025 (Happy Mother's Day!). My First Legacy Six Flags Park! | Six Flags Over Georgia Vlog 4.26.25 Coasting The Planet 2025-08-21 | Back on April 26th, 2025, I made my first ever visit to Six Flags over Georgia in Austell, GA right by Atlanta! This was my first time visiting a legacy Six Flags park, and I must say, aI was surprisingly impressed! From the moment you enter the park, a unique entry area with Goliath spreading over the access road and beautiful landscaping set the tone for things being a bit better than I expected! While many areas of the park were somewhat dirty and in desperate need of some TLC and repaints, I was very impressed by the park's very well-rounded ride collection and unique use of the natural terrain.Special thanks to my good friend Blake, who lives in the Atlanta area and supplied me with a place to stay on my weekend and joined me in the park for his video!As always, thank you for watching Coasting The Planet! My Last Ride on Tiger Terror (Ridercam)! | Defunct Safari Land AGGRESSIVE Kiddie Coaster Coasting The Planet 2025-08-18 | Here is a ridercam/reverse POV of Tiger Terror I recorded during its last day of operation on August 17, 2025. This Wisdom Rides coaster gained a bit of a reputation as one of the world's most aggresive/intense kiddie coasters, as well as a "legendary +1". You can certainly see where that comes from in this video, with surpassingly jolty turns and a borderline ejector airtime hill! The safari decorations, colored lights, and electronic music were also nice touches, rounding out what is now my favorite kiddie coaster I have experienced! Rest in peace, Tiger Terror.Also sorry for the low quality of the video, this was recorded by a handheld iPhone and the ride is quite rough and aggressive! This is my first ridercam video on Coasting the Planet though, so hope you enjoy!Tiger Terror was located at Safari Land, an FEC in Villa Park, IL, about 30 mins outside Chicago. Safari Land has a few other indoor rides, such as a carousel and tilt-a-whirl, but primarily features arcade games, a bowling alley, and other typical FEC offerings. Despite being in a strip mall in a somewhat run-down area, I was surprised to find the inside of the building extremely clean, well maintained, and featuring modern amenities! It just may be the nicest FEC I've visited!Tiger Terror is being removed to be replaced with a brand new, custom layout kiddie coaster from E&F Miler called "Congo Cruizer" later this year. While I'm sure it won't be as intense or have the same cult following, I imagine Tiger Terror was likely near the end of its service life. Coaster Crews Lightning Rod Roundup 2025 Vlog! Awesome ERT + Tours! | 4.12.25 Coasting The Planet 2025-08-14 | Back on April 12th, 2025, I attended my first Coaster Crew, Lightning Rod Roundup 2025 at Dollywood! This was certainly the best coaster event I have personally experienced, with an awesome group of enthusiasts closer to my age to hang out with!The event started early in the morning with a behind the scenes tour of Mystery Mine, and breakfast provided by the park. We then got a walk back tour of Lightning Rod, featuring a hike to the top of the hill to overlook the valley where most of the ride takes place! We also had thew traditional cinnamon bread and hot chocolate social Dollywood is known for with these events, followed by end of the night ERT on Thunderhead [it was supposed to be Lightning Rod, but it was broken :( ]. Great America Scenic Railway Full Loop! | SFGAm Train Ride Coasting The Planet 2025-08-12 | Something awesome about Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL is that they still have their train ride from opening day, the Great American Scenic Railway! With a locomotive from Custom Fabricators Inc., this train travels around the full perimeter of the park, with two stations located in Hometown Square and County Fair! Hope you enjoy this full video of the full ride around the entire park! While some parts travel through strange backstage areas, it for the most part provides some really awesome views of the park! The highlight for me is certainly the back half of the track, where the train weaves between X-Flight and American Eagle before threading between Demon's corkscrews! Sky Trek Tower Full On-Ride POV | SFGAm Intamin Gyro Tower Coasting The Planet 2025-08-11 | While they're somewhat rare nowadays, there's nothing like a good observation tower to give you an aerial view of a park, particularly effective at your larger regional amusement parks such as this! Here is a full onride video of Sky Trek Tower at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL, one of the largest Six Flags parks! While there's not a ton of scenery to see outside the park, Great America itself is a park to behold from the air, with one of the most impressive skylines I've personally seen! Additionally, this tower features one of the best pre-recorded audio spiels I've heard on these, giving a very detailed overview of the park complete with music! It's also a very long cycle, giving you plenty of time at the top to take in the views! Exploring Carowinds Flat Ride Collection! | Vlog 3.30.25 Coasting The Planet 2025-08-11 | After a fantastic visit with ACE for Fury 325's 10th birthday the day prior, I headed back to Carowinds for a second day, my final day at this park before moving! Since the park was extra empty with it being a Sunday, I decided to take the time to experience some of the park's flat rides in the County Fair and Aeronautica Landing sections for the first time! This included my first Mondial Top Scan (Electro Spin), Zamperla WindstarZ (Windstar), and Zamperla Skater (Airwalker), as well as some cool new takes on rides I'm familiar with, like a Mack Musik Express (Rock 'N Roller), Zamperla Nubulaz (Gear Spin), and Huss Troika (Do-Si-Do). Carousel Columbia (CA) Top Deck On-Ride | Californias Great America Coasting The Planet 2025-08-08 | I had a few extra minutes before leaving CGA, so I decided to take a ride on the park's icon, Carousel Columbia, and take you along for the full ride! Of course, I rode on the upper level for better views!When Marriott built their two Great America theme parks in the 1970s, both featured identical double decker carousels flanking a reflecting pond at their entrances, being the two tallest double decker carousels in the world! Delta Flyer/Eagles Flight Full Southbound Ride | CGA Skyride Coasting The Planet 2025-08-07 | California's Great America in Santa Clara, CA, has one of the only theme park skyrides left in the country! Interestingly, it has two names: Delta Flyer if traveling southbound (such as in this video), and Eagle's Flight if traveling northbound. This Von Roll VR101 Skyride gives cool views of the park, but more interestingly, the surrounding Silicon Valley area and mountains! Star Tower Full On-Ride POV | CGA Intamin Gyro Tower Coasting The Planet 2025-08-05 | If you know me, you know I love observation attractions that give you cool views of their respective parks and surrounding areas. So upon my first (and maybe only) visit to California's Great America in the Santa Clara, I knew I had to check out their Intamin Gyro Tower! This is a dying breed of observation tower attractions that I really enjoy, so when a park has one I always make a point to experience it. And since it isn't a dynamic ride, I can bring my camera to show you all!This tower certainly had unique views, with the park being located directly in the center of Silicon Valley in the San Francisco bay area. You can really see just how built up the area around the park is, with many tech company office buildings, the 49ers football stadium, and more, all silhouetted by beautiful mountains in the distance! Unfortunately, unlike some of the other gyro towers I've experienced, this one had no narration or music, leaving the experience feeling a little off. Carowinds Was DEAD on Opening Weekend! | Vlog 3.16.25 Coasting The Planet 2025-08-04 | On Sunday, March 16, 2025, I made the drive through the Smoky Mountains to check out Carowinds on their opening weekend for the 2025 season. I had previously visited Dollywood for their opening day the 15th, so it was fun to get to visit both parks back to back! Unfortunately a large line of violent storms had moved through overnight, but that seemed to have scared off crowds and left Carowinds completely empty! There was certainly a lot interesting stuff going on on this visit: I stayed in Carowinds' onsite hotel, a Marriott Springhill Suites, for the first time. I got to check out the in-progress demolition of Nighthawk, which completely changed the look of the front half of the park, as well as both Scream Weaver (Enterprise) and their Drop Tower. Additionally, I got to drive down the newly reopened (but still only one land and 40 mph) I-40 through the Smoky Mountains, which had been closed since a washout during flooding last fall. Little Amerricka Monorail POV (Front Seat) Coasting The Planet 2025-07-30 | Here is an onride video of the monorail at Little Amerricka in Marshall, WI, recorded on a rainy morning just after opening! This monorail ride is a decent length and takes you on a loop around the park, giving some great views of the park's classic rides and the surrounding Wisconsin countryside! Dollywood Opening Day 2025 Vlog | A Bit Rough. . . Coasting The Planet 2025-07-27 | Back on March 15th, 2025, I attended Dollywood's public opening day. This was right off the end of an extremely crowded passholder preview the day prior, and while crowds were (surpassingly) lower this day, some rough edges still shone through. Many rides experienced issues throughout the day (Lightning Rod never opened, Big Bear Mountain spent half the day closed, etc.), food locations failed to stock popular items, and operational efficiency wasn't quite to the typical Dollywood standard. All this aside, I was still able to have a good time, and many positive aspects still shone through, including an amazing production of "From the Heart."I apologize this video is releasing so long after it was recorded. I had a very busy few months between finishing up schooling to obtain my degree, moving for work to start a new job, and more. Dollywood Passholder Preview 2025 Vlog | Most Crowded EVER? Coasting The Planet 2025-07-25 | Dollywood's 2025 season passholder preview was way back on March 14, 2025, and I recorded a vlog! Sorry it took so long to get this up; between finishing school and moving for work, it was a busy first half of the year!This year was the busiest passholder preview I've seen at Dollywood in my 4-5 years of it being my home park. The parking lot was nearly full upon arrival, with many cars parked illegally in the grass, etc. Many of the crowds were there to see the annual Dolly Parton parade, which luckily still took place even with the recent passing of Dolly's husband. Otherwise, it was interesting to see some of the unexpected changes around the park, although many of the new-for-2025 features were not quite ready for opening day :( Not really much in this one in terms of ride experiences due to the crowds, but my public opening day video will be coming soon!As always, thank you for watching Coasting The Planet! A Snowy First Visit to Anakeesta! | Vlog 2/22/25 Coasting The Planet 2025-07-12 | Back on February 22nd, 2025, I headed over to Gatlinburg to make my first ever visit to Anakeesta! This small park is located at the top of a mountain overlooking the town, accessed via a chairlift. It features two mountain coasters, as well as some other unique attractions such as a suspended rope bridge and observation tower! The park also features multiple stunning overlooks, many of which feature restaurants and bars! It had just snowed recently before this visit, which gave me a unique and beautiful visual for my visit!Rail Runner, the only single-rail mountain coaster in North America, offered a shockingly intense ride experience due to its crazy laterals and open seat/seatbelt design. I've never ridden a mountain coaster that felt more like I was about to be ejected! Hellbender is their more modern offering, being a more standard Wiegand Gen 2 alpine coaster which was fun but similar to other mountain coasters you can find in the area. I was also able to eat dinner at a BBQ quick service with incredible views, watch the sunset from the observation tower, and even walk across the suspended rope bridge at night!Oh, and as I fun bonus, I also visited Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies (directly across the street) afterwards. Six Flags Great America 4th of July Fireworks! (From Southwest Territory) Coasting The Planet 2025-07-05 | This year, I decided to spend the 4th of July at my new home park, Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL! I recorded the end of the night fireworks show, available July 3-5th, which I am sharing here. Hope you enjoy seeing the fireworks behind Raging Bull! While the show started mediocre, it continued to grow throughout and built up to quite possibly the best finale i have ever seen in a fireworks show!This was recorded from the Southwest Territory viewing area. Huge Progress and New Teasers for Dollywoods 2026 Dark Ride! Coasting The Planet 2025-07-03 | Dollywood has continued to make huge progress on their soon-to-be-revealed 2026 dark ride/indoor powered coaster (most likely) attraction, and has even released new teasers in the form of in-park posters, a phone line, and a hidden website! This is not a proper construction update, as I just moved to Wisconsin to begin a new job and therefore cannot be at the park in person. However, I still wanted to try to cover these new developments the best I could!First off, my friend Jason from Coasters N' Things sent me a video clip of the attraction site from the train on June 24th, showing significant progress since my last visit only 6 days prior!Next, Dollywood has posted several posters throughout the park advertising Hidden Hollow Aviation Company, the fictional company responsible for this new attraction! Photos of these posters were shared by Misti Smith on a Dollywood Facebook group, and feature artwork, a logo, and a phone number that can be called for an audio teaser!Finally, the park's website now features a hidden page with new teaser videos for the attraction, referencing journeying to a hidden lake, flight, and more interestingly, river rafting and taking "the plunge." I'm very interested to see the theme and story for this attraction, which we will speculate on here!We'll also speculate on what type of attraction this will be. A Mack Rides Inverted Powered Coaster? A Vekoma Suspended Dark Ride? Let's talk about it!Oh, and apparently Blazing Fury is reopening this weekend (July 4th, 2025). Constellation Carousel Nightime POV | Universal Epic Universe Coasting The Planet 2025-06-28 | Constellation Carousel is a very unique Mack Rides carousel located in the Celestial Park central area of Universal's brand new Epic Universe! This one does not feature the typical boom setup or central column, opting instead for an all open air-design with mechanics concealed below the floor. Additionally, the animals actually rotate 360° on their own poles, making for a very interesting and unique experience!While it's interesting enough during the day, the ride really comes to life at night with a beautiful lightning package, just like the rest of celestial park! Since this is one of the only rides at Epic Universe that allows filming, I decided to upload a night pov in addition to my preexisting day pov! The 2026 Building Frame is Up! + New Blazing Fury Sign! | Dollywood Construction Update 6.18.25 Coasting The Planet 2025-06-19 | On June 18th, I made one more quick visit to Dollywood before moving to see what was going on around the park! I was very happy to see that the frame for the 2026 attraction is completely up/assembled, giving us a much better view of the ride's footprint! This impressive structure towers over the back half of Wildwood Grove, and will hopefully hold an immersive dark ride type experience once completed. We did get a quick teaser on the train ride, telling us that the structure was the aircraft hanger for Hidden Hollow Aviation Company, who would be giving aerial tours of Wildwood Grove and Timber Canyon starting next Spring! Mack Rides will be the vendor/manufacturer for this project, and my prediction is still a suspended powered coaster.Additionally, we have finally seen notable progress on the exterior of Blazing Fury, which now has a new sign and some other cosmetic enhancements! I was told by some park employees that the ride has been fully rebuilt in place inside, and is planned to reopen by the end of July. Yoshis Adventure POV! | Universal Epic Universe Coasting The Planet 2025-06-15 | Since it's one of the very few rides at Universal's brand new Epic Universe you can film on, here's a full POV of my ride on one of the green Yoshis!This is an S&S Sansei Omnimover ride which takes you on an elevated trip around the back corner of Super Nintendo World! It features plenty of its own scenery and animated bits, including Captain Toad, and even a short dark ride section referencing Super Mario Galaxy and Yoshi's Island. I do wish the ride was a little longer and that it went around a larger portion of the land, but it's still neat nonetheless! Universal Epic Universe Closing Fountain Show / Night Time Spectacular! Coasting The Planet 2025-06-10 | At the end of each operating day at Epic Universe, a fountain show plays in front of the Grand Helios hotel near the back of Celestial Park to serve as a finale before the park closes for the evening. This fountain show is synchronized with music from the intellectual properties within Epic Universe (Harry Potter, Super Mario, How to Train Your Dragon, etc.), as well as all the colored lights within the central area of the park!I apologize my vantage point here was not the best, but its not the worst either so I still wanted to share. Setting My New Ride Marathon Record! | Fun Spot Atlanta Vlog 2.9.25 Coasting The Planet 2025-05-31 | Back on February 9th, 2025, I spent a second off-season day in a row at Fun Spot Atlanta thanks to my new season pass. While there, I set a new personal record for most rides on one coaster in one day, 22 rides on ArieForce One! Given how empty the park was, I also took some time to explore some of the more interesting and janky corners of the park. This included some abandoned attractions such as an old homemade zipline and sky coaster, a bridge across the lake with awesome views, and more! The BEST Park to Visit in the Off-Season? | Fun Spot Atlanta Vlog 2.08.25 Coasting The Planet 2025-05-28 | Back on February 8th, 2025, I spent an afternoon at Fun Spot Atlanta while on a weekend trip visiting my friend Blake in the area. It's rare to have a coaster like ArieForce One open year-round, so I make sure to take advantage each off-season! Despite it being the start of February and the middle of winter, it ended up being around 70°F, super nice weather, and the park was decently busy for much of the afternoon/evening!While there we got to get plenty of rides on ArieForce One (including plenty of night rides), rode their Go-Kart tracks including my favorite, the Sprint Track, explored new-for-2025 changes around the park, and more!As always, thank you for watching Coasting The Planet! Dollywood CLOSING Day 2024: Park Was EMPTY! | Vlog 1.05.25 Coasting The Planet 2025-05-26 | For the first time ever, I decided to visit Dollywood on its closing day of the 2024 season, which was in January of 2025! (not confusing at all). It ended up being a pretty cold and somewhat rainy day where most rides were closed due to weather, and somehow the park did not close early! I stuck it out to the end despite the circumstances, finding the positives and having a good time!Despite only being able to do a few rides and one coaster due to the weather, I still enjoyed checking out the Christmas lights one last time, exploring corners of the park I hadn't seen in such a way before, and more. The park was the most empty I think I have ever seen it, creating a serene and surreal atmosphere as I was often the only person on many paths I walked down. This added a fun edge to the evening for sure, a great mix of contemplative and somewhat creepy atmosphere. Overall, this was a really fun and unique way to end out my 2024 theme park season! My 2025 theme park season is already several months in by the time I finished editing this video, and it's off to an amazing start, with only more to come very soon! A Better Visit to Smoky Mountain Christmas 2024! | Dollywood Vlog 12.8.24 Coasting The Planet 2025-05-19 | After a pretty rough visit to Dollywood's Smoky Mountain Christmas on Saturday, December 7th, I headed back to try again on Sunday, December 8th. While my Saturday visit was defined by high crowds and lots of closed rides, this visit was much better, with shorter wait times and much better ride availability! I got to experience some other aspects of Smoky Mountain Christmas after dark as well, such as the Christmas Train, and the new Snow in the Grove special effects/spectacular show in Wildwood Grove. A Somewhat Rough Visit to Smoky Mountain Christmas 2024 | Dollywood Vlog 12.7.24 Coasting The Planet 2025-05-17 | Back on December 7th, 2024, I made my first visit of 2024 to Dollywood's Smoky Mountain Christmas, which didn't go quite as expected. . .Unfortunately, not only was it pretty cold, but ride availability was less than stellar. Big Bear Mountain and Blazing Fury were both on extended closures, and most of the park's roller coasters were closed for most of the day for maintenance reasons (not weather); only Tennessee Tornado, Wild Eagle, and Thunderhead were open when I arrived. This was pretty disappointing, as Dollywood typically has most rides open and firing on all cylinders for their very popular Christmas event. Luckily, most rides reopened around sunset, which certainly helped turn the day around.I still had a fun time overall however, with some unique visuals such as ice formations on Big Bear Mountain and the Craftsman's Valley water wheels left over from a cold front the day prior! Food was still excellent as always, and the park looked beautiful with all the Christmas lights! 2026 Ride Foundations in Place, New Restaurant OPEN! | Dollywood Construction Update 5/11/25 Coasting The Planet 2025-05-15 | On quite possibly my last visit to Dollywood as my home park before I move, I was able to check out the progress on several construction projects throughout the park. The new for 2025 restaurant, Wilderness Pass Restaurant, is finally open! I take you all on a tour of the newly completed restaurant and plaza, as well as give a mini-review on the new food. Additionally, significant progress has been made on the new 43,000 sqft indoor ride for 2026! This lies behind Big Bear Mountain, and many foundations are already going into place for the building walls and presumably ride track!Unfortunately, the park still has not given any update on Blazing Fury, their classic 1978 coaster/dark ride. It has been closed since around October 2024, and will supposedly reopen later in 2025 with a major refurbishment! Still no real details have been given, however, and I guess I won't be giving this ride a goodbye before moving. . .Oh, and the new parking lot is completed! This is parking lot F, and is behind the priority lot atop the hill from the main parking lot. First Time at Happy Halloween Weekends! | Holiday World Vlog 10/19/24 Coasting The Planet 2025-04-29 | This is part 2 of my fall 2024 Holiday World visit (part 1 was Friday night, 10/18). On Saturday, October 19th, I met up with a good friend from high school to check out the park's family-friendly "Happy Halloween Weekends" event for the first time! In addition to some kick-ass wood coasters and their beautiful launched B&M wing coaster Thunderbird, we checked out some of the features only available at this event. That included corn mazes, some wacky walkthroughs, and seasonal food items. Monster Mansion Front Row POV | Six Flags over Georgia Boat/Dark Ride Coasting The Planet 2025-04-28 | Monster Mansion located at Six Flags over Georgia in Austell, GA (near Atlanta) is one of the most interesting dark rides I've ever experienced. This boat-based dark ride will take you through a mansion filled with, well, monsters! The ride's general story is that humans (us) are invited to join the monsters for a picnic party. The music is infectious, and there's just so much kinetic energy with the sheer number of animatronic monsters in each scene. The monster designs are wildly varied and silly/goofy in the best way possible. It's just amazing how much creativity is on display!This front row POV was filmed on my first every visit to the park in April 2025. With how unique this attraction was, I just had to get a POV to share with you all. I hope you'll come along! It's crazy to think that this creative and well-themed dark ride not only exists at a Six Flags park, but is still incredibly well-maintained!
