The Magic Eye - By Ian Campbell ian campbell 2022-04-01 | The Magic Eye is a metaphysical anomaly. The Magic Eye is a gateway to your future. The Magic Eye is all things both past and present at once. The Magic Eye will tell you the future. The Magic Eye is a humorous restaging of the classic magic eightball toy. Here’s how it works: a willing participant (or two) enters the magic eye tent (it measures 10’ wide x 9’ long x 5’6” high), they sit before the magic eye projection. On the low table before them are some simple instructions (“ask a yes or no question out loud”) and a curious “planchette” object. The participant swipes their finger across the planchette, which gives them the answer to their question on the projection screen. This is a simple yet interactive installation that engages the viewer and encourages dialogue between participants on ideas of fate, fortune and the future.
