The northern states sought to preserve the Union and, as an incentive, offered states that joined the Union to continue slavery. However, the war was costly for the North, plagued by heavy losses and growing draft resistance. It was a no-brainer to emancipate those enslaved and enlist them into the Union Forces - at the start of the war, each side had nearly 200,000 soldiers. Emancipation in 1863 brought 200,000 to 250,000 formerly enslaved individuals onto the side of the Union as soldiers or laborers. They brought the Civil War to an end with the defeat of the Confederacy in 1865. It was true that a part of the Republican party - in the beginning, were radical abolitionists who sought to end slavery. Another part of the Republican party was northern manufacturers who profited from southern-grown cotton. Cotton was king, and they took it up north and wove it into textiles, banked it, shipped it, and made huge fortunes. And since cotton could not profitably grow in a northern climate, those vested in cotton manufacturing and ancillary businesses (railroads, insurance, banking, shipbuilding, etc.) sought to preserve the Union and their supply of cheap cotton with it. Once slavery ended, the abolitionist wing of the Republicans gradually faded, while those Republicans with a vested interest in getting manufacturing going again sought to restore cotton production, restoring power to the southern democrats.

Problems of Policing in Washington DC

Police Chief Charles Ramsey is credited with modernizing policing in DC, applying computer modeling combined with a military "surge" strategy. The idea was simply crime reports broken down by type and fed into a database programmed to identify hotspots and track officer deployment and arrests. On paper, the system seemed impressive. Ramsey could report that crime metrics were going down, but the reality on the ground was much different. Some officers were misreporting crime as something else, officer deployment showed full roster when many officers were being pulled out of the community to cover special events (sports arena), and making arrests were not papered or thrown out of court but in their reporting system showed cases closed.

Soon after 9/11, crime spiked in Washington DC, neighborhoods. The Police who were reassigned to protect Federal Building were detailed back to neighborhood policing but were nowhere to be seen. People, cars, and houses were being robbed - crime was rampant. But on paper, it was hard to tell. Either the chief was being misled, or he was part of the charade. On paper, police rosters indicated that the cops had returned to neighborhood beats, but people were reporting something completely different. They spoke of Police talking people out of reporting a crime, or if they did insist, they would misattribute it to something else. And for those they couldn't hide, they would make arrests but fail in court to make the case which was most of the time, but it didn't matter since simply making an arrest would "clear" the case off the books. Ramsey touted success and had the stats to prove it while the criminals were still on the streets victimizing people. It was all a charade created with a bag of tricks. The Police make it look like they had a higher closure rate by attributing murders to people who were already dead! If someone got killed in what they attributed to gang violence, they would assert that the victim was probably killed in retaliation for killing members of a rival gang. So all those other murders would be attributed to the murder victim. Case closed. Chief Charles Ramsey seemed adept at throwing around glowing reports of all his accomplishments.

The hunt is on. Trump insurrection defenders have launched an investigation. They think the kid with the black ski mask transported to the Stop the Steal takeover in a psychedelic hippie bus could be part of a covert Deep State conspiracy. Part of a team that sparked the attack on the Capitol. His true identity is still unknown, making him an easy conspiratorial target. Stoned Out Capitol Insurrectionist Interviewed

Eddie Becker 2021-02-12 | Robert (Bobby) Gieswein 24, was interviewed the day before the Capitol insurrection. The next day on Jan 6th he was photographed in the U.S. Capitol charging barriers and police. Bobby is a survivalist whose skillset came in handy in the Capitol assault. He had a metal baseball bat and pepper spray manufactured to stop bears at great distances - he used it on the Police protecting the Capitol. He was accused of coordinating with the Proud Boys and Three Percenters with attacking the police, Now he has to survive in jail and through a judicial process. He and his comrades looked to Trump as commander-in-chief and they took the Capitol calling it the People's House - wanting to rescue Trump from impending doom by derailing the electoral process. Now he's hit with the full weight of the Constitution and unequal Justice where Trump gets off, but he does not.
In his legal motion for release, his lawyer asserts that Gieswein was high on cannabis and too-stoned-to-be-responsible for his actions. This interview was submitted as evidence in his defense. "[On January 5, 2021], Mr. Gieswein was at Freedom Plaza in the District with other Trump supporters. He was approached by someone with a video camera, who engaged him in conversation. He had just smoked a significant amount of marijuana, and his intoxication is palpable in his dilated pupils and grin, and in the rambling comments that ensued. Asked why he had come, he said: “to keep President Trump in.”

Robert Dean Carr Gieswein, DOB Dec. 28, 1996, of Woodland Park, was arrested on a warrant for assault on a federal officer, aiding and abetting the destruction of federal property, obstruction of a federal proceeding, violent entry or disorderly conduct, and knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority. This was a no-bond warrant.
The FBI charging affidavit alleged that he assaulted federal officers outside the Capitol with bear spray and a baseball bat; “encouraged other rioters as they broke a window of the Capitol building; entered … charged through the Capitol building.” assaulted federal officers with bear spray and a baseball bat; allegedly helped push a barrier against Capitol police officers and sprayed his chemical irritant at them and encouraged a crowd to break open a window before entering through it himself.
Court papers say that Gieswein is affiliated with an Oath Keepers-related extremist group called the Three Percenters.
Gieswein runs a private paramilitary training group called the Woodland Wild Dogs, and a patch for that group was visible on a tactical vest he wore during the attack on Congress, an FBI affidavit said.
