Riding the rarest GS in the world on Irelands best riding road [RAW Onboard] Schaaf 2022-11-13 | This road goes through the Killarney National Park and it is part of the very famous Ring of Kerry. I've actually had more fun on other roads in Ireland but if I had to rate them in terms of riding pleasure this one here was the best. It had a great surface and very lovely turns. Without the constant blind corners that you normally have to deal with on that island. And, most importantly, no people living nearby. Ireland is a magnificent place to ride but it's not ideal for my RAWs. For those I need little traffic, great surface, no boring straight bits, and no people. Well, it's a joke, obviously. But there's a lot of truth behind it. 95% of the bikes I ride on here are press bikes. Which means those are motorcycles owned by the manufacturers which will be handed over to journalists who then test and review those machines. BMW is especially famous for having the most well-equipped press bikes. They always add every single optional extra from their pricy accessories catalogue. Just to give journalists the most enjoyable and luxurious ride possible. Most journalists have never actually ridden anything else but the fully accessorized and therefore the most expensive and obviously best version of those BMW bikes. Lesser equipped base versions are simply not available for testing. And even out in the wild you'll rarely find any GS that is not fully or almost fully equipped with optional extras. I once spoke to some big shot guy from the BMW Motorrad sales department and he told me that at least 90% of all GS bikes out there leave the factory/dealer with almost all the optional extra boxes ticked. Which means a couple of thousands of euros on top of the base price.Which adds up to quite a hefty sum when you're renting out bikes and have a fleet of more than 30 GS bikes to order from the manufacturer. So that's why the GS in this video had no other extra than heated grips which are kind of important in Ireland. But no quickshifter, no semi-active suspension, not even Dynamic Pro riding mode which gives you a much sharper and more direct throttle response. And yet the bike served its purpose perfectly. Apart from the more direct riding mode and sometimes the cruise control feature I did not miss any of the comfort features at all on this trip which lasted for around 2700kms!---#makelifearide #bmwgs #r1250gs
