GEET engine with dubble bubbler and pre-heated air Roland195 2009-05-24 | Check out our modified GEET! It really begins to look like a small refinery ... We installed a dubble bubbler to prevent wet gas from entering the reactor. Furthermore the air that enters the bubbler is pre-heated by copper tube wrapped around the reactor. For the first 15 minutes the engine runs fine. Then it runs less RPM and finally it won't run. We let some propane flow in the air intake and then it runs great, so the engine doesn't get enough burnable mixture. Our next planned modifications: refine the reactor (less clearance to optimize the plasma conversion), and heat the fuel to create more burnable mixture. Zie hier onze aangepaste GEET met dubbele bubbler en voorverwarmde lucht! Het begint al een aardig fabriekje te worden ... We hebben er een dubbele bubbler op gezet om condensvorming in het gas tegen te gaan. Ook wordt de lucht die de bubbler in gaat voorverwarmd middels koper buis dat om de reactor is gewikkeld. Op een gegeven moment loopt de motor niet meer op het overgebleven mengsel omdat alle vluchtige stoffen eruit gedampt zijn. Door warmte aan het mengsel toe te voeren hopen we meer brandbaar mengsel los te krijgen. Onze volgende geplande aanpassingen: dikkere staaf met 1mm speling rondom (is nu 1.5mm) voor een betere plasmavorming, voorverwarming van het mengsel.

I started all over again and build a simplified GEET: no exhaust loop to the bubbler, and just two valves: fresh air and fuel. I installed a smooth inner pipe and a new rod that I need to burn in.

GEET bubbler 2.0 Roland195 2009-05-23 | Marco made a very nice new bubbler (our bubbler 2.0) and mounted it on the mower. We previously installed the original rod, with 1.5mm clearance in the inner tube, and a spacer and it runs nice! In the video the engine runs on an 50% water 50% gasoline mixture, however I really wonder if it runs on water since it won't vaporize at this temperature. Marco heeft onze nieuwe Bubbler 2.0 in elkaar gezet en op de grasmaaier gemonteerd. In de reactor zit de oorspronkelijke staaf met 1.5mm speling en een afstandhouder en dat werkt prima! De motor draait op een 50% water 50% benzine mengsel, maar ik vraag me af in hoeverre de motor draait op water, aangezien het water niet echt verdampt (door de onderdruk en het verdampen wordt het mengsel koud).
GEET engine Roland third run / motor derde run Roland195 2009-05-12 | In the second run we changed the diameter of the nipples on the bubbler and the reactor from 9mm to 16mm. It didn't change very much, the engine was still running at idle speed. In the third run we used a smaller rod of 12mm diameter instead of 14mm, in an inner pipe with an inner diameter of 16mm. Now it runs on higher RPM! We don't get the engine to run yet when we connect the exhaust tube to the bubbler. UPDATE 1 Today (May 16) we took the reactor apart since the engine didn't run very well. It appeared that the rod was blocking the exit of the reactor. This rod didn't become magnetized, so apparently 2mm clearance around the rod is just too much. We put a spacer from copperwire in the reactor and put the original rod (13,5mm diameter) back. Now its running fine and at full speed! Bij de tweede run hadden we de diameter van de aan- en afvoer op de bubbler en de aansluitingen op de reactor vergroot van 9mm naar 16mm. Dat hielp nagenoeg niet, de motor bleef stationair draaien. In de derde run hebben we een dunnere staaf gebruikt van 12mm in plaats van 14mm. Binnenste pijp is 16mm binnenwerks, dus nu 2mm speling rondom de staaf. Komt nu goed op toeren! We krijgen hem nog niet goed aan de praat wanneer we de retour van de uitlaat aansluiten op de bubbler. UPDATE 1 Vandaag (16 mei) liep de motor slecht en hebben we de reactor weer uit elkaar gehaald. Het bleek dat de staaf de uitgang van de reactor blokkeerde. Deze staaf is niet magnetisch geworden, dus blijkbaar is 2mm speling rondom teveel. We hebben van koperdraad een soort afstandhouder gemaakt en de oorspronkelijke staaf (13,5mm diameter) teruggeplaatst. Hiermee loopt de motor nu heel goed en op volle toeren!
GEET rod magnetic / magnetisch Roland Roland195 2009-05-12 | After the first run we took the reactor apart. We were curious to find out if the rod had been magnetized. As you can see it's absolutely magnetized! The exhaust side of the reactor has a North polarity (attracts South on the compass) while the intake side has a South polarity. The distance between North and South is 20cm, which is close to the suggested 18,5cm rod for a horizontal oriented reactor running on 100% gasoline. Na de eerste run hebben we de reactor gedemonteerd om te kijken in hoeverre de GEET rod magnetisch is geworden. Zoals je in het filmpje kunt zien is dat duidelijk het geval! De achterkant (uitlaatkant reactor) is Noord (trekt Zuid aan) en de voorkant Zuid. De afstand tussen Noord en Zuid bedraagt 20cm. We hebben op 100% benzine gedraaid en dan komt 20cm heel aardig overeen met de aanbevolen horizontale lengte van 18,5cm voor benzine!
GEET lawnmower first run / grasmaaier Roland eerste run Roland195 2009-05-07 | First run of my GEET lawnmower. With many thanks to Marco who constructed the GEET and mounted it on the lawnmower! At first in would only run on idle speed as is shown in the video. We changed the diameter of the nipples from 9mm to 15mm which didn't help very much. Then we took the reactor apart and it appeared that the rod was blocking the exit of the reactor. Today (May 16th) we made a spacer from copper wire which works fine! Now the engine runs full speed! De eerste run van mijn GEET grasmaaier (Briggs and Stratton 4-takt) ! Met veel dank aan Marco die de GEET heeft gebouwd en gemonteerd! Hij wilde eerst niet lopen. Toen hebben we de retour van de uitlaat naar de bubbler losgehaald, uitlaatklep helemaal open en zuurstof iets minder dan half open. Bubbler trekt dan zuurstof uit de lucht door de lans en dan in de GEET reactor. Vervolgens bleef de motor stationair lopen zoals in het filmpje is te zien! Hij krijgt blijkbaar te weinig mengsel, want de stand van de 'gashendel' van half open naar open doet helemaal niets. Met meer zuurstof slaat ie af. Inlaat bubbler is nu 9mm, uitlaat is 13mm. We willen de inlaat nu 13mm maken en de uitlaat iets van 15mm. Hopelijk krijg de motor dan meer vermogen en kunnen we met de kleppen meer regelen dan nu. UPDATE 1 (16-5-2009) Nadat we de reactor uit elkaar hadden gehaald bleek de staaf opgeschoven te zijn tot aan de uitgang van het mengsel. Met de tweede staaf (derde run) gebeurde dit ook en toen kwam de motor slecht op gang. We hebben van koperdraad een soort afstandhouder gemaakt en dit werkt! Met de oorspronkelijke staaf (13,5 mm in 16 binnenwerks pijp) loopt de motor nu heel goed. Deze staaf is aantoonbaar magnetisch geworden, zie andere filmpje.
