200 episodes in and WE FINALLY HAVE A PLAN! (For one episode. Enjoy it while it lasts!)
If you know us, you'll know we love us some shippy goodness. For the non-nerds (or anyone who hasn't listened to this podcast) (or met us) that means we'll decide that two characters in a movie, network TV show, book, comic book, webcomic, or 1980s cartoon are meant for each other and we'll obsessively track down fan art and fan fiction about them, and if we can't find any, we'll make some ourselves.
If that sounds like your cup of tea, buckle up, because in this episode we discuss over thirty of our favorite pairings, from Star Trek, Star Wars, Transformers, X-Men, Doctor Who, ElfQuest, Vampire Diaries, West Wing (yes really), MacGyver (YES OKAY SHUT UP) and a lot more. Trigger warnings for vague references to cartoon smut, and the blatant objectification of several handsome male celebrities.
And whether you've listened to 200 episodes or just the one, thank you for stopping by, you're awesome.
This week's outro music is a clip from Underground Revolution by TeknoAXE. youtu.be/esfx4J-KNGI
A good companion to this episode is the Lost in Sci Fi "Fan Fiction" episode we recorded with Leland and Jada.
All our obsessive thorough coverage of Friday the 13th the series is at pixelatedgeek.com
The New Teen Titans issue we talked about was #39 from 1988, with art by Eduardo Barreto (pencils), Romeo Tanghal (inker), and Adrienne Roy (colors.)

Listen in as we go over Parasite (many many spoilers), Snowpiercer, Inception, the trailer for the upcoming Netflix Transformers series, the firing of Didio, the books we’re reading, the conventions we’re getting ready for, twitter's dumpster fire Windblade “discussion,” and more made-up stories about our sponsor.
This week’s outro is a clip from Mirrors by Superhumanoids from their Parasite Paradise album.
Correction: the dish cooked in Parasite was called Ramdon, and it's a real thing (combination of Ramen and Udon) and you can find the recipe and a lot of cool information about it at uproxx.com/life/ram-don-recipe-parasite-movie/.
Correction the second: Windblade is Flame Toys' first attempt at a female transformer model, they haven't tried an Arcee. (Yet.)
Correction the third: yes there is a ton of information about lightsaber crystals and most of it seems to be perfectly canon, we should've checked out Wookiepedia first (starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Lightsaber_crystal).
And a clarification: Kathryn mentioned needing to pick up bondo before NC Comicon in March. We probably should have mentioned it's for the EmojiBot helmet, we went into more detail in last week's episode. (http://pixelatedgeek.com/2020/02/binary-system-podcast-211-wtnv-162-alpha)
Since there's a lot going on in this episode, here's a breakdown of the timeline:
Snowpiercer at 12:20
Inception at 14:32
Netflix Transformers Trailer 17:15
Wildblade model twitter dumpster fire 18:50
Dan Didio and DC stuff 31:50
Andrew Hunter Murray’s The Last Day 34:04
T. Kingfisher’s latest book 35:43
Character based on our sponsor, and general Star Wars 36:50
Update on the Emojibot cosplay creation and convention plan updates 41:30

Most importantly, live on the recording we brainstorm a new Doctor Who regeneration, companion, and adventure! (Spoilers: the Doctor's Tom Hiddleston. I mean come on, this is us, it's either going to be Tom or it's going to be a Transformer.) (....) (*sound of frantic scribbling of notes for later*)
This week’s outro is a clip from Humanizer by Tekno Axe.

This week’s intro music is a clip from the Fleabag soundtrack written by Isobel Waller-Bridge. The outro music is a clip from Flea Circus by Lemur.
The actress Elizabeth was trying to think of, the one who looks like Fleabag’s sister? She was thinking of Indira Varma, who keeps dying in shows we like. (Fleabag’s sister is played by Sian Clifford, who also looks like Michelle Evans-Fecci from Great British Baking Show.)

If I do this again next year I'll do a few things differently. One: hold the camera still and focus more on things, so I don't swing around so much and make people seasick. Two: use a frigging GoPro (sorry for the jerkyness in the second half, my arms were worn out.) And three: film on Saturday, because there's a lot more cosplay on Saturdays.
Thanks to Jada Scarbrough for the loan of her iPhone, my little Samsung didn't have nearly enough memory for this. (Plus the sound cancelling on the iPhone made for an interesting effect when it caught little bits of conversations as they went by.) (Oh, and the cut in the middle is when I paused to deal with a storage issue.) Thank you to everybody in the crowd who put up with the crazy person walking with her phone over her head for 17 minutes, shout out if you spot yourself!

Check out the clips from Neil's game at the SDCC 2018 Press Event at the Sun & Moon Deck at the Kimpton Solamar Hotel in Downtown San Diego, celebrating his Emmy-nominated show "StarTalk."
(It's been pointed out that in Jenga you're supposed to take the pieces you pulled out and place them on the top of the stack. We're guessing that since Neil's time was pretty limited, they were playing an abbreviated game to keep it from going on too long.)
(Our apologies to his opponent Mr. Jeff Berkwitz for not getting footage of his moves, we were running out of storage space on our camera!)

Since there’s no Night Vale to recap this week we figured we’d just talk about everything else, starting with our family in the path of Hurricane Irma (spoilers: they’re fine) and upcoming travel plans that are making our recording schedule interesting.
After that we talk about a Transformers game that Kathryn’s ridiculously addicted to, er, very enthusiastic about and she’d like you to play too so she can get more points, um, so you can enjoy it as well. Then we discuss why we haven’t finished watching Defenders yet, and it has something to do with this Netflix show about drug deals, we won’t say which, but it rhymes with “Narcos” and it’s (appropriately) addictive.
Also we try to talk briefly about this amazing 80’s show called Friday the 13th the Series, and fail. To talk briefly. We even had “BRIEFLY” written in our notes and underlined and we still went on and on.

"It is, Elizabeth's iMovie kept messing up the contrast on the videos so she finally downloaded a newer version."
"....she's still using iMovie to edit her videos?"
"Oh don't YOU start..."
It’s a nice rambly podcast this week, first with a Night Vale recap where Cecil talks about eclipses you can’t see from this planet and then gets stuck in his own recording booth. And then Elizabeth drags the podcast off on not one but TWO tangents, once about mythical two-headed snakes and another about alien tourists on Earth. And finally a segue into the Defenders, John Barrowman’s awesome DragonCon cosplay, sand castles, Lady Killer, Motor Girl, conventions, Cabin in the Woods, and “My Dad Wrote a Porno.”

"...you do know she'll be in Florida for a week and a half right?"
"...for crying out loud..."
First off this week is a recap of The Great American Eclipse because SCIENCE. Then we're looking at Night Vale's first Citizen Spotlight, featuring a character who is entirely fictional. More so than usual we mean.
After that we look at the first episode of Marvel's Defenders and talk about what we like ("WRONG NUMBER") and what we hate (shut UP, Danny!)

"Yep, Elizabeth's feeling productive."
"Four minutes of work counts as 'productive'?"
"Look, what have I told you about being all..."
"DON'T WE HAVE a description that needs to go here?"
Time for the season finale of Alice Isn't Dead! As you can tell from the title, things get a little introspective and quickly turn very grim. We got to hear how Kesha met Alice (randomly), how they fell in love (quirkily and sweetly and not at all what Kesha had planned), and then how maybe, just maybe, it all might have been a lie.
Then Kathryn lightens the mood by talking about a very fun Board Games Night (if you're curious, the games were Snake Oil, Codeword, and Mysterium, which you really need to try), and Elizabeth talks about how her hand-drawn Tarot deck is coming along, and did you know there's a database of different Tarot decks?

"Yep."
"Didn't we used to do this kinda regularly? Why'd we stop?"
"Elizabeth got sorta lazy about it."
"Don't they take, like, four minutes to do?"
"Four and a half, but fine, yes, anyway, she decided to take a little break."
"A little break? 77 episodes is a little break?"
"Well if you're gonna get judgy about it...hang on, who's talking here anyway?"
"The editor's meta-chorus, don't worry about it. Can we move on to the actual description?"
"Oh FINE."
This week the twins recapped an episode of Night Vale that was less of an episode and more of a little present for everybody who's been a fan of the show since the beginning. We got the Dog Park, Dana Cardinal, Khoshekh, the lights above the Arby's, Carlos' perfect hair, and angels. And lightbulbs. (sniff) (We're not crying you're crying.)
After that there was just time enough to talk Twin Peaks, Agatha Heterodyne Girl Genius, Dylan Marron's new podcast, and the final issue of Transformers Till All Are One.

Fall is here, and so is the Night Vale annual charity marathon:twenty-six miles through the Narrow Place. And like so many other events in Night Vale, the marathon is expected to be lots of fun, most likely fatal, and mandatory. For everyone.
Strap on your running shoes and get ready for the starting pistol (we don't miss twice) as the twins recap the latest WTNV episode and fangirl about Return of the Jedi, Danger Mouse, Joss Whedon's Dollhouse, and Andre the Giant.

Join the twins as they recap the episode and then talk about their progress in catching up with Sense8 and Doctor Who. (The City Council would also like us to SHUT UP ABOUT THE DOG PARK.)
(Also, there's a revise to the Binary System Drinking Game. It's one drink every time you hear a siren in Elizabeth's neighborhood. You should NOT drink when you hear traffic noises: traffic was rerouted in the area due to construction, and we don't want anyone to get alcohol poisoning. Remember: Drink To Forget, but Drink Responsibly. This has been: Traffic.)
