#beatober 2025 - day 3 OSVoS 2025-10-03 | trying out a new set up for live sets. picked up this cheap little mixer today with a crossfader, TR6s on one side, circuit tracks on the other. Simple hip hop type break on 6s and housey kind of thing on the circuit, get stuck in with the fader for laughs. think it'll work out, might add in a pocket operator or something on the tracks line in. all very portable... mixer is OK for 30 quid

#beatober 2025 day 2 OSVoS 2025-10-02 | P6 coming through again. lunchtime beat made at my desk, got away for half an hour. lush drums and bass from slomosa who uploaded a short of them in the studio recently. acoustics on the drums was beautiful, bass rolling. chopped, filtered, filtered and resequenced on the P6, couple of extra drums layered on for texture. grabbed the out of tune piano sample from jam legend @sebtic smile and made a moody thing happen. day 2 done.

Late night scratch session OSVoS 2025-09-21 | spent all day with my mates in the Eggcuos of Vermouth recording what will probably form the start of an EP. Great session, full of great energy. Bravo Tim and Bobby you bloody legends.Energised whn I got home I rounded the day off with sone scratching and down tempo hip hop breaks. spent a solid hour cutting and scraping with the SC500 and P6, recorded some bits. Pocket scion and neutron with wave bard OSVoS 2025-09-13 | wave bard still loaded up with kalimba and hang drum samples routed through all the effects on the lovely NTS1.pocket scion hooked up to a little cherry tomato from the garden (because... Pocket Scion Fireball ambient noodle OSVoS 2025-09-12 | hooked up the wonderful pocket scion to the 1010 fireball wavetable synth via midi. scion happily transmits midi note and CC to external device(s) either a single channel or up to 5. in this case just one. fireball set up with snappy fast attach envelope and level control for the oscillators on the X and Y knobs. Fun with tiny boxes part 1 OSVoS 2025-09-06 | new toy day! fabulous instruo pocket scion arrived today and research began immediately. midi plays really well with the brilliant roland S1, here being triggered by scion and acting as a mixer for the sound from the scion with s1 oscillators. audio being routed to the ever superb 1010 lemondrop granulating the live input into two separate polyphonic granulators. tinkering aplenty.oh and there's a bit of leaf from the garden in there too...sound is a bit janky as it was very late and I'd been at the pub for a mates birthday but experiment 1 yields interesting results. research continues into the weekend...#experimentalmusic #pocketscion #ambientmusic #ambientdrone

Abstract hip hop beats and some weird goings on OSVoS 2025-08-23 | made a weird wonky beat on the P6, drums sampled off the circuit tracks via the brutal filter on the monotron. sampled and mashed more jazz flute into a twisted kind of abstract melody. routed the P6 out through the monitron and got indecent with the filter and delay. smashed the hell out of the beat using effects on the P6, some of this goes pretty deep. it was very late at night.#experimentalmusic #rolandp6

Garden party beat sketch draft 1 OSVoS 2025-08-21 | rocking out at a garden party Saturday evening with a new band - Eggcups of Vermouth.I'm doing beats, the awesome Tim 'Head Gardener' Cronin is bring some modular chaos and legendary Bobby K will be toasting vocals through a voice changer and beating up a theremin. had a couple of practice jams and it's sounding ace so fingers crossed it all kicks off on Saturday.I'll be doing live improv beats using the cool as fuck TR8S. I've built a kit with two similar BD, SD/HC, CH, OH laid out next to each other with some perc/FX at the end which allows me to build two separate grooves and swap bits out as I like, reprogram one BD while the other plays etc. very enjoyable to jam with. lots of reverb/delay.I'll be synced with Tim's modular rig via analogue clock out which will be going into the P6 and sent via midi to TR8s as that has no analogue sync. routing audio from TR8s into P6 gives me access to the great FX processors in that, the scatter and delay are likely to feature.bosh

Hardware Jams Challenge 20jul25 - Triplets/Major OSVoS 2025-07-20 | Prompt this weekend was to use triplets in a beat and explore the major scale. Surely a job for the Circuit Tracks. The amazing sequencer can do micro steps allowing for all sorts of off kilter beats and rhythm signatures etc. Here I have a 'normal' 4 to the floor beat with a triplet on the last quarter bar, then basically hihats and claps that are all some where in a triplet pattern. Added some nice sounding synthy stuff all kind of randomised but in a C major scaling, and thought the lemondrop would add some nice extra textures so threw that into the mix too via MIDI on the circuit, audio routed back into the circuit for reverb/delay. hardware jams weekend challenge - dr(((((((o))))))))ne time OSVoS 2025-05-27 | stumbled upon a pretty unusual way to use the SP404mk2... I've been collecting a series of drone samples made by various synth/effect combinations, anywhere between 30sec and a minute or two long. Long envelope applied in the 404, slow attack and release, all samples set to loop. To perform, just press the 'enter' knob in to click and select a sample from a bank, it selects it without triggering. Using the pitch/speed window you can then increase volume to create a blend of loads of unsynced sample loops which creates a rather pleasant drone sound. Like all good drones, it wanders in and out of harmonic and rhythmic, into chaotic territory. I like this. Did a live set using this technique (and most of these samples) at Deep Listen in Canterbury last year, went down really well. 5 minutes is barely enough time to get a drone up and running but what are you gonna do?#hardwarejam #ambientdrone

Live capture bastl wave bard, kastle drum, P6 and Circuit Tracks OSVoS 2025-05-24 | properly late last night, bit of a dick about with #bastl devices and friends. all kind of unsynced, bit of CV click exchange but evolving noise jam. love the wave bard, stock sounds at this point as it had only arrived a few hours before (and I'd been in the pub) but very enjoyable exploration of these tiny machines. wave bard is already on the 'desert island synth' list.
