A:Which Projection!Moulay Anwar Sounny-Slitine2022-05-20 | In this video, I look at calculating area in ArcGIS Pro using the calculate geometry tool in the attribute table. I first download data from US Census TIGER, then convert the projection on it. Then I display the projecting in three different formats, Albers, Mercator, and Robinson. Calculate all three projections and compare the sizes of Alaska and Texas. How many times bigger is Alaska than Texas? Good question. Does it depend on which projection you are using? So what do you think the projection should I use after determining that, I make a map composition. Think you can make a better map? Follow along, let's see.Making a Choropleth Map from FEMA Disaster Declaration GIS shapefile Data with ArcGIS ProMoulay Anwar Sounny-Slitine2022-05-19 | In this video, I take GIS Data from FEMA's GIS Data feed, gis.fema.gov/DataFeeds.html then unzip it and add it to an ArcGIS Pro project. From there I make a choropleth map, changing the symbology to graduated color based on the attribute table field Total Decelerations. With this, I notice that the data shows a pattern and that Natural Disasters and not random, so what is driving them? To verify the pattern is not random I run a Moran's I Spatial Autocorrelation tool that leads to a result that there is a clustering of the dataset. Finally, I create a map layout to show this choropleth map, making three map frames, one for the 48 states, the next for Alaska, and the last for Hawaii. Then it is to share the data, I go ahead and export a PDF that is ready to share via email or via a web browser. I did not spend much time making a pretty map. I did add a legend and title, but I think you can do better. Send me your maps in the comments below. Happy Mapping, and keep digital exploring the world! How to Geocode Excel Spreadsheet of Cities in ArcGIS ProMoulay Anwar Sounny-Slitine2022-05-12 | This video shows how to geocode an excel spreadsheet of cities, with city and state to a feature class, shapefile, and AGOL share using ArcGIS Pro. After creating a color infrared image by changing the band combination in symbology, I then use the Raster Functions to create an NDVI. To have an NDVI with the -1 to 1 scale be sure to choose the scientific output for the pane. ArcGIS Pro does streamline this type of Raster calculation making it do something very similar to what ERDAS Imagine does with preset raster functions. How to Export a Shapefile In ArcGISProMoulay Anwar Sounny-Slitine2021-10-05 | ArcGIS Pro uses geodatabases as the default way to import and save files, but sometimes you just want the old fashion esri shapefile to share with third-party platforms or even with ArcMap Desktop. The images you are about to see, show Hurricane Maria’s impact on a section of forest near Arecibo, Puerto Rico, in September 2017.
As described by one of the NASA scientists who surveyed damage to the island’s forests, “The dense, interlocking canopies that blanketed the island before the storm were reduced to a tangle of downed trees and isolated survivors, stripped of their branches.”
The 2017 image, taken before the hurricane struck, was part of a study of the regrowth of tropical forests on abandoned agricultural land. Images were taken by the airborne G-LiHT team.

Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to enable you to search and find remotely sensed imagery in Google Earth Engine. Searching (and finding) Landsat.
Landsat is a NASA program that has launched a sequence of Earth observation satellites, named Landsat 1, 2,... etc. Note that the Landsat program has resulted in the longest continuous observation of the Earth's surface. In this exercise, you will load a Landsat scene over your area of interest, inspect the units and make a plot of radiance. Specifically, use imagery from the Landsat 8, the most recent of the sequence of Landsat satellites (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. To inspect a Landsat 8 image (also called a scene) in your region of interest (ROI), define your ROI as a point, filter the image collection to get a scene with few clouds, display some information about the image in the console.
