Nine tracks total with most being quite long, lots of sludge/doom influence and definite hints of early Godflesh and other 90's industrial metal throughout. This is the CD version of the album which appends three tracks not found on the LP.Formed in 1991, the group's only other release that I know of was a 7" from the previous year titled "Your Vision Leaves Me Blind". HELLCHILD Bareskin [Full Album] [Japanese Press] Killian 2018-05-09 | Third LP from Japanese death metal/hardcore band Hellchild, originally released in 1999 on Ritual Records in Japan and Howling Bull in the US. This pressing includes a bonus disc featuring a cover of G.I.S.M.'s "Shoot to Kill" and two medleys of various other cover tracks. One of two Hellchild LPs to feature Sigh drummer Junichi Harashima behind the kit, while vocalist Tsukasa Harakawa now sings for long-running grindcore band SWARRRM (who you can find a few albums of on my channel).Note that the first image in the video is actually scans of the US pressing with the Mid cover art - I included that as it looks a lot nicer than the plainer layout of the Japanese version that can be seen later in the video.Hellchild reunited a few years ago (after splitting up in 2001) and are still active today, playing shows occasionally. Four long tracks plus an intro that depict each word from the acronym that makes up the band's name. One of their rawer-sounding releases of the ones I've heard, with pummeling, sludgy riffs along with their characteristic vocals being quite forward in the mix. GODFLESH Post Self [Full Album] [Japanese Press] Killian 2018-02-06 | Latest LP from GODFLESH, released late 2017 on Justin Broadrick's Avalanche Recordings label and Daymare Recordings in Japan (plus a limited cassette run on Hospital Productions). Presents a different approach compared to the previous LP "A World Lit Only by Fire" with less focus on sheer heaviness and more room for experimentation. The Daymare pressing is presented in a digipak with Japanese liner notes and three bonus tracks not found on any other physical release of the album.NOTE: for this video I've used the audio from the Bandcamp download of the album as the initial copies of the Daymare CD have a pressing error which causes "Mirror of Finite Light" and "Be God" to cut out early, resulting in a few minutes of lost time. Featuring both members of rhythmic noise duo Synapscape, this project goes into harsher, more experimental territory while maintaining much of the driving rhythms with a minimalist aesthetic.
