Olight PL Mini Valkyrie: Outstanding Light at an Outstanding Price! Prepped For Life 2017-12-31 | I just picked up an Olight PL Mini Valkyrie and I'm excited to share the unboxing and review with you. Taking the step to a weapon-mounted light is important and the gear you chose is crucial. I've heard a lot about Olight recently and, given the price, I had to check out this model. Weighing in at 2.2 oz, this light has an extremely small profile but packs a 400 lumen punch along with a rechargeable battery that gives around 70 minutes on a charge. Scar Blades Longbow and Longbow Extreme: Big Thumbs Up! Prepped For Life 2017-11-27 | I recently got ahold of the Longbow and Longbow Extreme from Scar Blades. These are both brand new designs, not even up on the website at the time of this video. Both an outstanding design, the differences between the two are subtle: in addition to some added texture on the handle, the Extreme version jumps from a 3/16" thickness on the blade to a full 1/4". Made from 1095 High Carbon steel and coming with a razor edge, either model can be ordered with various finishes and colors (the blades featured on this video have an OD Green Gunkote finish). Given the size, weight, and feel in the hand, I feel that this model offers an amazing balance between a tough work knife and an elegant hunter. Kershaw Link | Exceptional for the Price! Prepped For Life 2017-11-06 | I've been carrying the Kershaw Link for a few months now and I love it! I hesitantly picked up this popular blade, not knowing what to think of it (I thought the blue handle was plastic when I first saw it) and instantly realized why it's so popular. Far from your average cheap folder, the Link is a well crafted tool - made in the USA - with an great design. It's a good-sized blade, all belly, and a high-carbon steel that holds an edge very well. Gun Basics: Clearing Type 2 and Type 3 Malfunctions | How To Set Up and Practice Prepped For Life 2017-10-27 | ** Disclaimer: I am not an expert and this video is not a substitute for good, professional training. I am providing tips based on the training I have received in the hope you find it useful**This week, we continue looking at hand gun malfunctions, learning about Type 2 (stove pipe) and Type 3 (double feed). Unlike the Type 1 which gives a "click" instead of a "bang", types 2 and 3 will present with a dead or mushy trigger. This should tell your brain to start moving out of the way, while checking the chamber to see which one you're dealing with: Type 2 remedy (stove pipe): 1. Trigger finger goes straight2. Support hand taps the bottom of the magazine3. Support hand racks the slide, while tilting the gun toward the ejection port4. Point back in on target and re-assess the threatType 3 remedy (double feed): 1. Trigger finger goes straight2. Lock back the slide3. Strip the magazine from the gun forcefully4. Rack the slide 3 times5. Reinsert a magazine6. Rack the slide7. Point back in on target and re-assess the threatTo setup a Type 2 for practice at the gun range: 1. Eject the magazine2. Rack the slide ejecting the round, if any3. Lower the slide, with a round sticking out of the ejection port4. Insert a loaded magazine5. Trip the trigger if you are shooting a striker fire (like a Glock)6. Point in on target and get a dead or mush triggerTo setup a Type 3 for practice at the gun range: 1. Eject the magazine2. Rack the slide ejecting the round, and lock back 3. With the slide locked back, put a round into the chamber4. Insert a loaded magazine5. Ease the slide forward, creating a double feed6. Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0: An Enhanced Holster at a Better Price Prepped For Life 2017-09-15 | This week we're going to talk about concealment holsters. I've had the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0 for about a year now and I have loved it. My wife jokes that I collect holsters like she collects shoes and, if you're anything like me, you probably have a drawer full of old holsters as well. I fell in love with the hybrid/tuck holster design years ago, going with an expensive leather model initially. As comfortable as it was, compared to the alternatives, I always had a problem with the holster sagging down, due to the smooth leather back. I was hesitant to try the Alien Gear at first due to the lower cost and lack of leather, but I instantly became a fan. The Cloak Tuck 3.0 took what they learned from the first two models and upgraded things even more. It's light weight, comfortable to wear all day, and doesn't slide around like the leather model. I'm not being paid for this review and I can honestly recommend these holsters without reservation based on comfort, quality and price. So we linked up with some friends to hit the Cache National Forest and float down the river nearby. The trailer has an amazing amount of space and the placement of everything is very well-thought-out. We have been car camping for years and, immediately, I realized how much effort we’ve been putting in. We have each of the elements that the trailer offers: packable space in my truck bed, a stove, solar power, a water filter, a tent, an awning, etc…but the beauty of an overland trailer is how simple it makes all of those things. Not only do you have an amazing amount of storage space - where you can keep most of your camping gear pre-packed - but your camp is set up in a matter of minutes AND with the solar and water filter, I can stay out for an extended period of time. I’m still not an RV person because I enjoy the rough elements of camping, but I think this trailer is a perfect mix of adventure and ease of use.
