Coastal defence positions reported coming under attack from 0530 and landing craft began attempting beach landings shortly after. The current position is not clear although initial reports indicate the enemy has suffered heavy casualties. Air reconnaissance sorties have not yet revealed any other, more widespread landings along the French coast but these cannot be ruled out. The first aircraft to reach the area encountered strong patrols of Spitfires protecting what appears to be a large shipping group, operating 5-10 km off Dieppe.Units of JG3 and JG26 have called to immediate readiness. Bf 109 F-2, F4s against Hurricanes and Spitfire MkVs.The missions are quite bare bone but entertaining nonetheless and inject the sim with fresh gameplay.The only thing I dislike is that fact that many Pilots fly with soviet skins. This is in many cases not really their fault. They are probably flying with custom skins: I don't have the skins so the game loads the standard skin by default. The offensive was carried out from 16 December 1944 to 25 January 1945, towards the end of the war in Europe. It was launched through the densely forested Ardennes region between Belgium and Luxembourg. The primary military objectives were to deny further use of the Belgian port of Antwerp to the Allies and to split the Allied lines, which potentially could have allowed the Germans to encircle and destroy the four Allied forces. The FTC Ardennes Offensive campaign will shift the focus from RAF and concentrate on the (historically accurate) participation of 9th USAAF in the air and air-to-ground war. This means P-47s and P-38s, but also P-51s as 8th USAAF has been moved to the Continent to support the hard-pressed American forces later in December. 2nd Tactical Air Force will also have a fair share of action. P-51s have been allocated to the continent to support the Americans on the Northern part of the front.
