Hello, H Chang here. I said I'd upload a ZUTOMAYO song one time, and here it is! ZUTOMAYO is currently my favorite J-pop artist, so this was coming sooner or later. ACA-ne's songs are so fast, and hard to play on a single instrument (just look at me struggle to play this at original speed at 130 bpm, despite the fact that I played this on live stream quite often).

There are constant 16th notes at 130bpm and I had to sacrifice quite many things to play it at original speed. There are a lot of mistakes in this cover, and chorus is the hardest part of this arrangement (lot of stretches, the chorus I play is the simplified version as well). I also replaced a lot of 16th note with strums as well, and I wouldn't recommend arranging ZUTOMAYO songs on guitar since it's difficult to capture the flavorful chords and the fast notes. It is not clean sounding and flavorful as I want, but I don't think I can play this much cleaner on one-take at my skill level right now.

This is a TERRIBLE trade-off in terms of quality, but my ears can't handle it anymore, so I am sticking with this in the future if I decided to upload more in the future :/

Also, I was planning to upload a different song, but it was too hard so I chose an "easier" song and still messed up in couple sections hehe

I'm pretty excited about Re:Zero Season 2 since Re:Zero was one of the very first anime I've watched! The amazing insert songs by MYTH&ROID got me really hooked up into Anime music, so in a sense, I am here because of Re:Zero! (Also credits to Konomi Suzuki for her powerful opening, Redo).

When I was first working on this song, I figured that it wouldn't sound good on guitar; Well, the previous 2 openings, Redo and Paradisus-Paradoxum, both had "gothic" vibes which I thought guitar wouldn't capture well. The final result came out better that I thought.

The only regret is that I placed the mics a bit closer than usual (wanted bit more bassy sound for this), and you can here my breathing/humming a note in the very beginning if you pay attention.

Like last year, I uploaded an anime medley of songs from this year. It’s a bit biased towards the winter season (also kinda since I don’t watch much anime anymore).
I was initially planning to record the audio first then sync it with video except that I had some hard time syncing the audio to video (mostly due to length of the video). After failing miserably, I thought - “why don’t I record this 19 min video in one take?”.
It was not a good idea XD.
There are so many mistakes in this video. (And I failed miserably at 16 min mark in the one before this… and my face turns soulless after I mess up big at the very last song around 19 minute mark)

The arrangements are not as accurate as it could be either since I didn’t have time to fine tune it to the original song. (Songs like Kaen and MUKANJYO). I also had issues with transitions as I couldn’t use glider capo for one-take (since the tuning goes whack easily)

Watch as my face turn soulless with each mistake I make :)

Hey, H Chang here. This is my last recording from the 1 hour session (same day as inferno OP/ED). I was initially planning to upload this after learning few insert songs or after season 2, but I just decided to upload this 7 minute video (in one take) due to lack of time.

I'll try to upload something during Christmas/New Years holidays (possibly at end of November too). But except those holidays, I probably won't be uploading anything, or maybe one every 3 months? Don't know if I'll return to Youtube to be honest with you. I'll focus on real life.

I've actually been thinking about taking a break from Youtube (or perhaps just straight quitting) for over a year now for these reasons.

1. The time - even though I can arrange at relatively fast speeds (at cost of accuracy), after taking account of time I spend on only uploading... I'd make around one-tenth of minimum wage as of right now, even if I were to monetize (and that's also ignoring possible copyright issues too).

2. I'm a college engineering major and stuff is getting tough :(
(No, I'm not a music major, and yes engineering classes suck)

3. I got sick of anime, and anime songs to be honest. And I've been finding the process of recording and uploading more like work now; it's just not as fun any more as it was initially. Uploading seasonal anime cover is the worst - listening to song that just came out; I really just stopped doing them for a year now since I hate memorizing songs I don't even like the first time around.

4. I actually... don't like playing guitar that much! (surprise?). I also don't like how limiting this instrument is at times. And also i don't like touching strings :L
Oh, and I just hate changing guitar strings too. I change it like once or twice a year too.

Well, if this channel for some random reason gets real big, I'll return though XD
(so help me get the silver plate? hehe)

Oh, but there were some anime and anime songs that really made me want to continue on this channel. They were...

Rascal Does not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (and the Ending Fukashigi no Carte) - A masterpiece that really got me back into watching anime again. It reminded me of Monogatari series, and just engrossed me with the progression with characters. It's ending, Fukashigi no Carte, has lots of room for rearrangements, just due to the complexity of the original composition.

Minami's Crying for the Rain - This was one of the very few songs that I heard for the first time and just thought, "dope". It was just... so ear-pleasing in very aspect. The only other songs I've felt this was from Re:Zero. (ED1 Styx Helix and OP2 Paradisus-Paradoxum) and Overlord S1 (ED L.L.L). It was just an amazing song that I can listen to over and over again. Oh, I knew the anime was going to be dumpster fire from the beginning so I didn't watch the anime though (just read the manga haha)

Sukasuka: World End - Well aside from me liking Azusa Tadokoro's singing voice, this anime just felt like watching a movie. I am personally not a fan of romance genre but this anime was just really, mesmerizing? Honestly I've finding a lot of anime sub par after watching this anime. (I also blame it for making me an "elitist" haha)

Oh, and I hate unravel and think it's the most overrated anime openings ever.

Recommend me some anime guys?

I finally finished an arrangement I started in 2018 haha. It was hard to get this in one take and I did make some mistakes (including playing some wrong sections), but it was worth in in my opinion.
Sukasuka was personally one of my favorite anime I've seen so far so I wanted to record this for a long time, but I wasn't able to play the arrangement back then.

It has quite many 16th notes at 140 bpm and is pretty hard to play clean. I was looking at the fretboard the entire time to concentrate :)

Oh, and auto exposure did something bad with the lighting but I don't wanna retake this 5 minute one-take :(

I initially planned this for one guitar, but decided to add a second guitar in the back. The second guitar was impromptu and sadly I wasn't recording it on camera when I got the take I wanted.

This actually isn't my first time using a guitar in the background! I did it Renai Circulation, Nozaki opening, and some others.

This arrangement still sounds great without the backing track though :)

This song was hard to play clean because of the number of barres. I hope you guys like this cover!

Hello guys! (I'm still alive). I'll still upload covers so don't worry.
Since I haven't uploaded in a while this arrangement was done more based on speed than adherence to the original song.
So I'm waiting for other guitarists to make better arrangements to this (Hopefully Eddie? or Tam?)

This arrangement was a new experience because I didn't practice this type of fingering quite often (F major). It's fun to play but harder to get it to sound clean than other positions.

And a fun fact: Tom H@ck (composer for OxT and MYTH&ROID) is probably a better guitarist than me

And don't get sick like me today in the new year ;) Hope your resolutions come true.

And one sad news: I don't think I have time to record the 2017 anime medley. I'll just play the sections of the medley in live streams. I'll upload some of the songs from the medley as single TV size covers (hopefully).

This was song was not on the top of my list, but when I arranged it, it sounded great, so I decided to record it anyways.

When I first heard this song, I immediately thought that I had to play this on the guitar; it had the catchiest acoustic guitar riff I had heard so far.
But nobody made the acoustic guitar cover of it(or I wasn't able to find it or was unsatisfied) - there were guys who played guitar riffs, but nobody arranged the entire song in the way I wanted to play it. I was sad by it and decided to make my own arrangement.

Technique wise, this is the hardest song I played - this arrangement is abundant with slap bass, mutes, and lots of wrist movement.

But this is the most exciting arrangement I made so far; I don't regret spending so much time on this cover!

Mirai Nikki Opening was a song I wanted to play on guitar the moment I heard it for the first time... and here it is!
I also looked at Eddie van der Meer's arrangement, but it was in a weird tuning so I decided to arrange my own. (The tuning is half step-down from standard tuning)
This probably was one of the harder arrangements I have made so far. There are couple minor mistakes in this video.
