In French, “Le site du Peyrou se compose d’un jeu de terrasses…” translates to “is composed of” in English, demonstrating passive voice rather than a reflexive action where the subject acts on itself. 💭
“Le site se compose de” can also be written “Le site est composé de” which matches the English example.
Most of us are led to believe in the beginner stage that if it has “se” then it’s reflexive. Then, as we advance, we never learn the full story.
Can you think of other pronominal verbs that aren't reflexive? Let me know in the comments below! ⤵️
And don’t worry if you can’t think of one, since this is an advanced topic! 🔥

Then it clicked! 💭
Here’s a quick tip: the "a" in this phrase is from the verb "avoir" (to have), not the preposition "à".
This means the correct translation is "Montpellier has the sacred flame". 🔥
It’s an easy mix-up but knowing the difference is key to mastering French nuances.

it's often used not just to exaggerate, but to enhance or beautify something significantly, from stories to resumes 📝
Also, let's unravel "Profiter de", a versatile verb that encapsulates "to enjoy", "to take advantage of something/someone", and even "to leverage".
Ever caught yourself wanting to say ‘Enjoy!” or “Have fun!”. Well, you want to say "Profite bien!"

Here's a real life example: ‘il faut qu’on se décide vite fait” casually morphs into “Faut qu’onstécide vite fait”. 😮
So what happens is that the “Il” from “il faut” goes and just becomes “faut” and then the “se décide” becomes “stécide”.
It’s a great learning opportunity to see how spoken French can drastically shorten formal phrases.
Understanding these shortcuts can massively boost your comprehension and your speaking fluency.

It's all about speeding up and blending the sounds! 🚀

✨ "Ce que" ➡️ "skuh": for example, "ce que tu veux" (what you want) becomes "skuh tu veux",
✨ Ce qui" ➡️ "ski”: for example, "ce qui se passe" (what is happening) transforms into "ski spass".
✨ "Ce dont" ➡️ "S'dont", for example “Ce dont j’ai besoin” (what I need) becomes “S’dont j’ai besoin”

Especially online, knowing how to refer to “the chat” can save you from quite the blush-worthy blunder. 😳
The pronunciation of “chat”(like in chatbox) is pretty identical English with a little bit more of a French sound.
Avoid over-Frenchifying the pronuncation and steer clear from the 'CH' trap that could lead to a misunderstanding, because it also has a very different, less innocent meaning: “vagina” 🚫😼

In spoken conversations, “je” often turns into “sh” before plosive consonants.
So, instead of saying “je peux pas”– try saying “shpeu pas”. 🤔
Also, “je pourrais” transforms into “shpourrais” and “je trouve” becomes “shtrouve”.
For example you could say “Shtrouve ça fou” or “Shtrouve ça dingue” (meaning, “I find this crazy”)
Fascinated by these shifts? 😇
They're key to sounding more native and less like a textbook!

This comes from "Qu’est-ce que tu fous là ?", using the informal verb “foutre” instead of “faire”. 🗣️
Whether you're annoyed or just joking, "Qu’est-ce que tu fous ?" conveys a range of strong emotions, as it roughly translates to “What the hell/heck are you doing?”
Also, a quick tip: "Qu’est-ce que tu" often shortens to "Kesstu" in casual conversation
But remember, “foutre” has its edgy sides, like in "Va te faire foutre" which means “Go get f*cked*/* Go f*ck yourself.”😲
Just remember the expression from today’s lesson and you’re safe 😉

When you want to say “I’m sharing something with you”, the textbook rule suggests saying “je partage quelque chose avec toi”.
However, you'll often hear “je te partage quelque chose” in daily conversations and even teaching materials 📚
This raises an intriguing question about language: Is correctness determined by official rules or popular use?
What do you think? Are you team #PopularUse? Or #OfficialUse? 🙌
