StarGeek After several months of hard work, it's finally here!!! I am so proud of all the participants and overjoyed to be able to post my first completed MAP!!!

This short and sweet MAP entails Dovepaw expressing her unwavering support for Ivpaw as her sister struggles with her destiny and the ever growing presence of the Dark Forest.
I've always loved Mandy Moore's voice for Dovewing and after watching the Tangled: The Series finale, I thought this song would make the perfect MAP for these two! I hope you can enjoy this project as much as the participants and I did working on it!

I'd also like to apologize for having to cut the beginning of part 10 due to some timing issues. It was completely my fault for not spotting the incorrect audio length and the full uncut part can be viewed in the credits section.

Parallels of Petals | Senior Art Exhibition

Things have been quite hectic on my end during my last semester of college and I just graduated with honors last Sunday - receiving my BA in Graphic Design and Minor in Animation! Uploads will continue to be sporadic as I aim to work contract in motion graphics for next few years and see where things take me from there. It's crazy to believe I started posting to this channel as a senior in high school and now I've finished college!

Without further ado,
I finally present the project that kept me occupied for the majority of my spring semester - Parallels of Petals! Another installment in my original series, Crux of Thorns. This short piece was presented at my senior art exhibition, running in the student show from the end of March to the end of April.

Here's my artist statement featured in the show:
(*Side note, Flower has now been renamed to Fresia!)

"Our protagonist, a she-wolf by the name of Flower, wakes up in a magical,
mysterious dreamscape filled with the memories of her life so far. Exploring this whimsical place, she looks back on cherished memories and less than pleasant ones; and learns how to confront them and move forward with her life. At this point in the story, Flower has achieved much deserved time of peace after years of conflict, but something is still holding her back - her past.

As a graduating senior, being okay with change and the fact of growing up is one I have often found myself struggling with. I aim for my work to reflect my inner conflicts and feelings in a representative manner as I feel that’s how an artist can truly connect with their works. Others can view my piece and realize how change and growth is good for the development of one’s self. Flower realizes by the end of her journey that the only way she can go is forward. She is no longer the young, lanky pup that spent her days innocently playing alongside her siblings - she’s been through many hardships under the main villain, Krenik’s, conquest. Things won’t be the same for her and her remaining family but that’s okay.

Storytelling within the slowly reviving realm of 2D animation has been one of my main focuses throughout my artist journey. Parallels of Petals is the newest installment to my original series Crux of Thorns. The story centers around two sisters and their quest to find each other and defeat a spreading evil together. I have produced several works for this series throughout my college career and plan to continue so after graduation. I create all of my works for this series digitally, utilizing the wide range of Adobe products as well as freeware like FireAlpaca. Crux of Thorns has come a long way from the creation of two characters for a WolfQuest role-play forum in 2015 to now its own animated story nearly a decade later. WolfQuest is a 3D simulation game where you play as wolves in Yellowstone National Park. There is a multiplayer element to the game where many role-play in the game chat and on the online forums.

My inspirations for my work in 2D animation continue to be my fellow peers in the online animation communities as well as more well known animators like Aaron Blaise. Seeing others my age create fantastic works in spaces like YouTube inspired me to begin to animate seriously and take on my own stylistic choices. I often animate on lower FPS (frames per second) as an aesthetic choice after admiring the works of Amelia B. This allows for extra emphasis on movements. Additionally, Aaron Blaise brings a lot of influence as an old school Disney animator. His work for Disney animated films were a big part of my childhood and sparked my interest in art overall. I continue to appreciate the work and animation lessons he puts out on the internet for other artists to consume. I hope one day for my work to inspire the next generation of animators and encourage more people to invest in the genre of 2D animation."

It was last summer and my friend was visiting for the week to meet my pup Fauna May for the first time. I remember it was raining outside so we were flipping through tv channels and Disney had the Domino 2 episode on. My friend was already a big fan of Amphibia so we watched it and that was the spark that got me to watch the rest of the series later on! I really binged the show this spring and it got me through some tough times. I truly cherish this frog show hehe.

I ended up getting a lot more done for ArtFight this year than I originally anticipated so I thought to put together a quick reel while we await for the competition’s results!

I purchased Procreate a little while back on my new iPad and I’ve been digging the automatic screen recordings it makes, it’s so convenient. I flip flopped a lot between iPad and computer for my attacks and it helped a lot with getting stuff out at a faster pace! I really enjoyed my third year of ArtFight, even if it distracted me so much from other work, lol.

I also want to apologize for not being able to get any uploads in for most of this summer, things ended up being a lot busier than I initially thought they would be. I do have a MAP part in the works that’ll be finished soon and hopefully a completed appreciation MAP (*smirks at CherryPics) by the end of the month! Stay tuned my lovely subscribers ✨

Short and sweet part I picked up for Huitièmechat's newest 2 week MAP! Took me less than a day total to complete and I really appreciated being able to work on a small part after burnout from my school projects. Empty space is left for credits to be edited in the final MAP!
If the boi in this video looks familiar from my last upload, that's because he's now the main villain for my series, Crux of Thorns. I think I'm settling on the name Krenik (inspired by Orson Krennic and his actor Ben Mendelsohn, I just think his voice is perfect for this character!).

Enemy | Crux of Thorns

StarGeek 2022-05-04 | HELLO THERE all my lovely subscribers and happy Star Wars Day!!! While I don't have any Star Wars content to share for today, I do have my final project from my motion graphics class to share! And you guessed it, it's my wolf OCs yet again! Keeping on trend with last May, haha.

This project was definitely on a time crunch with all the other final projects I had going on at the same time but I'm very happy with how it turned out! I chose to make a hypothetical TV introduction for my original series and finally made an official name for it! Crux of Thorns. Shout out to Paxhiecko for suggesting it. I had a lot of fun with the floral and color symbolism for this piece. This intro is heavily inspired by the Arcane tv intro as I really admired the camera work and composition from it.
MAP parts will resume shortly after I return from a short study abroad trip (it goes from May 9th - May 25th) and hopefully I will have a complete appreciation MAP to post by then too!

Obi-Wan vs. Anakin | Kinetic Typography Project

It was a fairly simple project of animating text to a conversational scene but it was fun to work on, I quite like how it turned out. I had to cut quite a lot of audio from my chosen clip, Obi-Wan and Anakin pause so much in this scene (dramatic boys lol).

So this is where I’ve been the last month 👀
I’ve had this meme envisioned since last summer and I was finally able to make it for my animation class final!
A lot of tears and stress went into the process of creating it and although I had to cut out some animated scenes to save time + a few minor inconsistencies, I’m still really happy with how this turned out!!! Except for scene 3 of the backstory omg I could not make that tween look less awkward lol. I really had a fun time with the “color-block” style I used for the backgrounds, man did it shave down on time!

ANYWHO, this meme is based around my wolf oc Iris and her traumatic childhood event. You may have seen her and her sister Flower in a MAP part of mine that explains a little bit into what happened. If y’all would like to have a more in depth analysis of the story, I’m tempted to make a behind the scenes video that includes deleted scenes and concepts!

Cosmos Interlude | Part 15

The theme of this MAP was pet appreciation so I featured all of my animals, both alive and deceased. Many of you who know me privately are aware that my beloved pup Maylee passed away in November - which had left me devastated but I've now recovered as much as one can and as this part is being published I'm on my way to pick up my new puppy, Fauna!
I'm really excited to start this new journey with her so I decided to release this part ahead of time (the MAP call is still early access) to celebrate her arrival!

Feline Fission | The Mission Continues

Unfortunately due to the shorter timeline for this project, I was only able to do 2 lines out of the 8 line script I made. I do plan to finish the rest of this scene once school is over and then upload it along with the previous project in one video!
The focus of this project was lipsync with minimal secondary movement, kinda like how older cartoon tv shows did it. I quite enjoy how this turned out, so cheers to another animation project finished!

Feline Fission | The Mission Begins

So this is the school project I've been working on for several weeks and I'm so glad to finally have it finished! The focus of this project was walk cycles, thus making up the bulk of the video. I did a lot of firsts for this project, both walk cycles and the tail flick animation were very new to me but I'm overall satisfied for my first try! I also finally learned how to do camera movement in After Effects. Unfortunately, AE does not seem to like low frame rate animation (I animated on 6-8 fps, which was very fun and I'd like to do it again) so some of the footage may be a bit choppy. I'm definitely open to suggestions for frame assembly in other applications because I'd like part two of this project to be smooth in the editing stages!
I also made an experimental animation style just for this class (I'll be uploading the character refs to my IG soon!) and I'm definitely gonna use it for the rest of the semester. Don't worry about my work just for YT though! I'll use my regular style, this new style is only to save time for the short deadlines in my animation class.

Stay tuned for project 2 which will be all about lip sync!

Thanks for 200!!! | Sub Special + Gift

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR OVER 200 SUBS!!! I cannot believe I've made it to this milestone! I definitely wasn't expecting much when I first started uploading but I'm super thankful to be where I'm at now!!!

The piece dubbed "Big Mama" is finally here after over two weeks of work!!! This is probably the most ambitious piece I've ever made at 24 characters being featured! Big Mama was intended as a Christmas present and then a New Years gift when the first option failed, but this piece ended up taking me much longer than anticipated, so I apologize to all who were waiting on this gift!!
This piece was so big that I am thankful OBS was a butt and gave me a bunch of horrible footage because there is no way this speedpaint would've been shorter than 45 mins had I included all line art and coloring XD So yeah, this speedpaint kinda jumps all over the place but I still hope you can enjoy it nonetheless!

I tried to include as many friends and acquaintances I've made or become closer with over the past year, if you did not make it into this piece know that I love you all equally and it was totally not personal! I could only fit so many characters and I may have just forgotten! Again I am so thankful for everyone's support of this channel, I couldn't have made it to where I am now without you all!!!

WOW, 2020 has been quite the crazy year for my art! A brief backstory on this part: These two wolf gorls are old roleplay OCs of mine and are sisters, Flower (reddish wolf) being the elder and Iris (tawny/gray wolf) being the younger. While Flower is obviously not Iris' mother, the two develop a bond quite similar to a parent-child bond after their parents were killed when Iris was a older pup and Flower a young adult. They were separated in the attack that took their parents lives and did not find each other again until Iris was an older teen. Flower from there took on the role as Iris' guardian and the rest is history!
