Explanation: A question regarding why Mater is playable in Rustbucket-Race-O-Rama popped in my head some time ago, because, from the game's perspective, it should have been Lightning, and now I understand why this happens.
Seemingly because in the ActivityInfo file the race is listed in a Rustbucket category, and the game is hard-coded to give you Mater to play as a Rustbucket racer. I tried to list Monster Truck Mayhem as a Waypoint race, but, surprise-surprise, it crashes. Even if I would make it work properly, it wouldn't quite work. But there are 2 possible solutions
1) Remake the race for it ot become a Waypoint race, which is very hard, since the race has two ways you can complete it
2) Make changes in the .exe file, which sounds logical to me, and I already have an idea how to implement that.

Chapter 3 is done! This video is a little old, so not a lot of changes can be seen there. On the other hand though, I managed to fix some bugs and inconsistensies, so I am looking forward to sharing this with you!

Yet there is a problem with the cut-scenes. They glitch out constantly for absolutely no reason.

Also, difficulty. But that requires a lot of AI behaviour-studying, which I am doing right now.

The main difference shown here is the old Yuri's model. His voice remains the same (Boost/Excited quotes are disabled due to the build using old assets and therefore settings), but his model is completely different and unfinished. He lacks wheels, which is a clear sign of Incinerator Studios doing the work. Mater-National related books were released in 2009, two years after the game was released, and Yuri was absent in the books. It looks like this model was just copied from Gudmund/Emma and used as a placeholder. (put something about his prototype here, I need to ask some people regarding the fact what car model does he resemble). He doesn't even have his icon yet.

So basically, other differences are:

1) The game has motion blur at high speeds, which really adds to the sense of speed
2) Emma model is final, but her icon is not
3) Icons of other characters are styled differently
4) DEBUG MODE WORKS. I was right after all, it is present in the game's files and it's not just a TVG leftover.
5) Crowd cheering sound is present
6) Audio radius is wider.

Overall differences will be provided later.

So far it seems like that Mater-National racers were meant to look more generic. Emma, Yuri and Gudmund share almost identical beta models, Otto, judging by his beta icon, looks like a generic race car, and Giovanni has some differences too. The only one who resembles his final look here is Hiro (Koji). It's a good thing they look more personified!

The main difference shown here is the old Gudmund's model, who was also named Sven/Edvard/Klaus in the early stages of the game. His voice remains the same (Boost/Excited quotes are disabled due to the build's settings), but his model is completely different and unfinished. You can really tell that developers were in a huge rush when they were making Tailfin Pass. Black sky bug happens here every 5-10 minutes, ambient cars dissapear, and the cave clips through the world. Big oof.

Q: Why audio still sounds like it was recorded in your toilet?
A: Well, I tried to change it's bitrate, and ended up with YouTube not processing the audio correctly, leading to no sound at all. It requires further investigation, which requires a lof of time.

Q: Why did you revert Ramone and Luigi's icons?
A: They are from Race-O-Rama, and since Ramone and Luigi do not have their stores in every city of world (obviously), these icons were replaced to the custom garages ones. Since Mater-National happens only in Carburetor Country - there is no much sense to replace those, other icons are just ruining Mater-National's vibe.

Q: Is that it for the story mode overall?
A: No, everytime I find a bug or a thing or two to add or fix, and this mostly happens off-screen, and I must post a video anyways.

Q: Why don't you cut some parts of the video?
A: Because there are some people who think that my build is as unstable as me in my teen age, but in reality - it works COMPLETELY fine!

Paynecars 2021-06-14 | So, the purpose of the stream was not to show you that my version is the best. The real purpose of this stream is to show you what is going to be in this mod, how will it work (read the chat for the description) and how the progress is going.

I would officially say that this version is like... Beta 0.1 of some sort. No, I won't upload it, I won't upload anything except the final version of 1.9.2.4, get over with it, please.

You may ask: "But Payne, it's been over 1.5 year already. Why is there almost no content, except everything else is unfinished?"
Let me answer you this question.
Indeed, I started to develop this version in January 2020, and surely there SHOULD be more content than that, but 2020 was a rough year for everyone on the planet, including me. I had a lot of problems with myself, including emotions, ageing, etc. I won't go too deep into all this, because it's personal, but that's the reason why there is not so much content. I sincerely apologize if my work didn't somehow match your expectations, but I cannot do anything about it. This is life, and I am doing the best I can.
Also, not only that was the reason. For over a year I was in the progress of understanding the game, because I never really did anything as big as the works I am doing now, and besides, it's been a long time in January 2020 since I did proper modding. Modding = programming in some way, trust me, it is really similar in some aspects. It's just that the programming language is easier, because those are just game files which are understandable even for a non-programming person.

I would gladly appreciate any criticism in the comments, even the rudest criticism which can potentially be. You can insult me, rage about my work, but that's good even, because I will understand what should I improve so the project can be better. Go ahead.

Any support is also appreciatable. You may think something like "eh, why would I comment about his work, there are probably a lot of comments which are saying compliments already", but trust me, any support or criticism are gladly appreciated. No words to describe how important all this to me. Once again, ANY RUDE criticism is appreciated too, but only if it is CONSTRUCTIVE. Of course simple insults without context are not welcome, because I do not understand why don't you like something. And in my work - I need to. Your feedback is very important, once again.

So... that's probably all I have to say. Once again, I apologize for the lack of content. I will not release this version in a hurry, I will take as many time as I need, because modern videogames... man, why modern videogames as an example, Cars games even were a little rushed, and some content was lacking. And I do not want it to be like that. Trust me, you won't have fun if you will play the version with a lot of bugs, crashes, etc.

Paynecars 2021-05-12 | Moonlight Run was a concept custom track intended to be created by Vladimir29. He himself came up with this idea.

Story-wise - McQueen, Sally, Mater and someone else just watched an afternoon movie, and they decided to have a little race before going to sleep.

I decided to make the race to be a Waypoint Race, because that's how the current racing games are being made.

Yet the track has a lot of work to do. I need to edit AI path so they won't get stuck at the wall.

This took me several hours in a row to make.
Vladimir29 gladly allowed me to make this.

Pauses and quits were made just to make sure everything is working properly.
