The Royal Australian Navy, Royal Canadian Navy and the United States Navy conducted rearmament activities in northern Australia in September 2024 after Exercise Kakadu. HMAS Warramunga and USS Dewey were rearmed at East Arm Wharf, Darwin, while HMCS Vancouver was rearmed at Broome Port, Western Australia. This was the first time a partner other than the US conducted a vertical launching system (VLS) rearmament activity in Australia, and was also the first rearmament of its kind to occur in northern Australia. VLS is the main launch system for missiles fired from modern warships.

The 16th iteration of the exercise featured warships from over ten nations, maritime patrol aircraft from five nations and 3,500 armed forces personnel.
Consisting of two phases, the exercise included a harbour phase with planning, briefings, sports and cultural events and a sea phase including the full spectrum of maritime warfare from constabulary operations through to high end, anti-submarine and anti-air warfare.
The exercise also featured a 20-nation combined command and control element.

The helicopters are being re-assembled by Boeing Defence Australia before being relocated to the Army Aviation Training Centre in Oakey, Queensland to support essential training for Army aircrew.
The addition of these five helicopters will address a critical requirement to meet the training and proficiency needs of Army’s aircrew while the UH-60M Black Hawk is introduced.

The Battle Group, formed from 6th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, were fresh from Exercise Diamond Run in Shoalwater Bay. They were re-tasked to conduct an airborne operation, to seize and open an airfield, and then evacuate Australian citizens and Approved Foreign Nationals, following a clear and present danger from an exercise enemy.
The move involved the Royal Australian Air Force C-17A Globemaster III aircraft, United States Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircraft, as well as New Zealand soldiers removing all non-combatants less than 24 hours after touching down. 6 RAR will soon to be certified as the Australian Army’s Ready Battle Group.

S20242625ADF | Ground Uncrewed SystemDefence Australia2024-09-13 | Soldiers from Regional Force Surveillance Group (RFSG) Pilbara Regiment are trialling surveillance robots to patrol and monitor the nation's north.
The Ground Uncrewed System, known as GUS, is an uncrewed surveillance system that is capable of providing an observation effect for approximately 50 continuous days.
The use of the novel technology is supporting RFSG to observe difficult terrain across a broader distance.
Feedback from the trials will support industry partner Outlook Industries to improve the current prototype.

S20241304ADF | Exercise Diamond Run concludesDefence Australia2024-09-12 | Australian Army personnel from Brisbane’s 7th Brigade and other supporting elements from throughout Army, the Royal Australian Air Force, Royal Australian Navy and New Zealand Defence Force, conducted Exercise Diamond Run from 10-20 August, 2024 at Shoalwater Bay Training Area.
The exercise tested the Brigade’s ability to rapidly deploy, defeat a well-equipped enemy, survive, and fight through simulated attacks from chemical weapons. The New Zealand Army sent infantry, logistics and catering personnel. This demonstration of an integrated 'Anzac' force was an important step for Plan Anzac. Plan Anzac is about ensuring better integration between the Australian and New Zealand armies.

Flying has commenced for Exercise Tarang Shakti 24, with the @IndianAirForce_mcc hosting 120 #ausairforce personnel and three EA/18G Growlers at Air Force Station Jodhpur, India.
This is the first time India has conducted #ExTarangShakti24, with a total of 8 participating nations (including India) and 18 observer nations attending the exercise in Jodhpur.
The arrival of three No. 6 Squadron EA-18G Growlers marks the first time RAAF has deployed combat aircraft to India, providing an opportunity to showcase our advanced capabilities, support regional allies and foster international cooperation.
RAAF participation in Exercise Tarang Shakti 24 supports the 2024 National Defence Strategy objectives for engagement with India as a top-tier security partner for Australia. Australia will continue to support India’s key role in the region through the increasing the depth and complexity of our defence cooperation.
