Martin RaySoken has done it again and oh boy, what a tune! I've been listening to it nonstop and I had planned to make a cover of the theme no matter what! This time, I put some funk into it and while there's room for improvement, I felt like I want to hear the whole song before I make any changes.

I had to take a little break for a few irl reasons, but also because I wanted to figure out if I wanted to keep making Dance remixes. Not because I don't love doing them, but because I would like to eventually try making other types of remixes and also other games.
This one I had been planning for a while, but it was supposed to be part of a Sorrow of Werlyt Medley. I realised pretty quickly that that was not happening lol. This song on its own deserved a full remix. Honestly, I had so much fun making this and even put some callbacks to my other remixes in there! The whistling and child choir is supposed to represent Valens and the orphans (for the people that have done at least the first chapter of the story, you'll know what I mean).
Anyway, enjoy!
Original music made by: Masayoshi Soken From: Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, SQUARE ENIXFF XIV: A Realm Reborn - Steel Reason [DANCE REMIX]Martin Ray2021-03-14 | Ever since I heard this track for the first time back in 2013, I immediately started hearing "You're Not Alone" from FF IX when that guitar enters halfway through the song. Both are made by Uematsu so it's no surprise that similarities like this happens, which I personally think is amazing! I never heard anyone draw this comparison between these two songs and I've wanted to demonstrate it for the longest time so here we are! Hope you enjoy this slight crossover!

Original music made by: Nobuo Uematsu From: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, SQUARE ENIXFF XIV: Stormblood - The Four Lords Medley [DANCE REMIX]Martin Ray2021-03-01 | Another medley! I wanted to keep the intermission parts a little closer to the original, but with my own touch and then do my own thing for the main parts. This has definitely been the most difficult cover to date for me. 4 songs and 2 intermissions ain't no joke lol. I almost scrapped the whole thing, but after taking a break for a day, I powered through and managed to finish it!
Original music made by: Masayoshi Soken From: Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood, SQUARE ENIXFF XIV: Heavensward - Locus [DANCE REMIX]Martin Ray2021-02-18 | I ended up making a remix of Locus sooner than I expected, but after having done eScape, I thought it would be fun to try doing something similar with it. The original has some heavy reverb in it and so I wanted to emulate that in my own way. Not quite what I had envisioned when I started it, but I think it works!
Original music made by: Masayoshi Soken From: Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, SQUARE ENIXFF XIV: Stormblood - eScape [DANCE REMIX]Martin Ray2021-02-11 | Once again taking a song to the dancefloor! Probably the most challenging one yet and I think it's because I personally feel like it's already such a jam that there's no way of doing it justice. But nevertheless, I gave it a shot and this is the result.
Original music made by: Masayoshi Soken From: Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood, SQUARE ENIXFF XIV: Heavensward - The Warring Triad Medley [DANCE REMIX]Martin Ray2021-02-04 | I recently started thinking about what sort of cover I wanted to do next and I decided that I wanted to try my hands at making a medley. I wanted to incorporate the battle song from FF VI (Battle to the Death/The Fierce Battle) that is present in all three battles before their respective battle music plays in their 2nd phases. The idea of using it as an intermission between the songs seemed like a good idea so you get a slight break between the songs. When it came to how I wanted the bosses individual songs to sound, I knew that I wanted them to be distinguishable, but still similar enough to not sound like they're just three completely different songs that have been put together. Sephirot for example, being the more unique song out of the three, was slightly changed (melodically) to fit the whole medley and I was quite happy with the result.
I do want to make a medley for The Four Lords (Stormblood) and eventually The Sorrow of Werlyt (Shadowbringers) when the last Weapon has been released.
Stay tuned for more!

Original music made by: Masayoshi Soken, Nobuo Uematsu From: Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, SQUARE ENIXFF XIV: Shadowbringers - Wind on the Plains [DANCE REMIX]Martin Ray2020-11-19 | The final cover of my dance remixes! This one stood out to me the very first time I heard it in the Patch 5.3 Trailer. It plays as a field theme in the Bozja Southern Front and it's an absolutely lovely orchestral rendition of the theme that plays in Gangos. My cover, on the other hand, is taking it to the dance floor. I wanted to retain some of the mystical tones the original had, but at the same time also go full on disco! It wasn't easy to always transition from one thing to the other, but I did my best.
While this is the last dance remix I have planned for now, I still intend to upload more FF covers and maybe even branch out to other games. I'm a big fan of Synthwave and Orchestral covers so if you enjoy that, there's more to come!

Original music made by: Masayoshi Soken From: Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, SQUARE ENIXFF XIV: Shadowbringers - The Raktika Greatwood [DANCE REMIX]Martin Ray2020-11-10 | LA-HEE! Another dance cover of Soken's amazing work in Shadowbringers. I wanted to mix the area music with the dungeon track and this is the result. I'm not oblivious to some of the amateur-ish sound design, but nothing a little practice and experience won't solve. Hopefully it's still an enjoyable tune!
The cover is made by myself this time. Took a screenshot of the ruins in Rak'tika and let iMovie work its filter magic!
Original music made by: Masayoshi Soken From: Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, SQUARE ENIXFF XIV: Shadowbringers - The Tempest [DANCE REMIX]Martin Ray2020-11-03 | I started making this remix right after I finished Shadowbringers and it's one of the few remixes I've been able to actually finish. It's been a long time coming and I have hesitated to share this for too long. I realise dance covers are not as common as some other genres, but I quite enjoy the more electronic covers and thought I'd give it a go. This is one of many I've started and I'd like to share more soon!
