It served as an administrative center of Judaea Province of the Roman Empire, and later as the capital of the Byzantine Palaestina Prima province. During the Muslim conquest in the 7th century, it was the last city of the Holy Land to fall to the Arabs. The city degraded to a small village after the provincial capital was moved from here to Ramleh and had an Arab majority until Crusader conquest. Under the Crusaders it became once again a major port and a fortified city. It was diminished after the Mamluk conquest.[4] In 1884, Bosniak immigrants settled there establishing a small fishing village.[4] In 1940, kibbutz Sdot Yam was established next to the Bosniak village. In February 1948, the Bosniak village was conquered by a Palmach unit commanded by Yitzhak Rabin, its people already having fled following an earlier attack by the Lehi paramilitary group. Halong City Electric Mini-Bus Tour Lost & Found Travel 2015-09-18 | While tens of thousands of travelers pass through Halong City, the gateway to Halong Bay, very few actually see the city itself. Since I was spending the night before heading to Hanoi - I chose to take a quick tour of the city. The electric car service starts running in early morning and operates tours in Hon Gai area. The tour itself can be a little flexible - so I asked to see things I could also shoot with my drone.I got to explore Long Tien Pagoda, Ha Long Market, Cot 5 fishery village, and Quang Ninh Museum. If you are a fan of the channel you know we LOVE a good wet market. I could have spent the entire day at Halong Market exploring. What's special about this market is that it isn't special. It's real. Fishing families bring their catch in daily. Families on land buy their food daily. Perfection!You may also know we run a tour company here in Chicago - so we take tours pretty seriously. Our guide, Penny, was a joy. She has a great personality and was all smiles. She even answered a few questions about Chinese style temples I had left over from China...How can you catch a Halong Bay tour by electric car? DJI Fail Over Water - Ha Long Bay Vietnam Lost & Found Travel 2015-08-16 | Before I upgraded to an FPV system, I judged drone battery life with a stopwatch. I was 4 seconds away from landing when the failsafe auto-land kicked in. On a boat that had turned slightly in the current... Oh no!The first thought was that I'd lost the connection to the quad, maybe the captain had turned on some large EMF generating radar what-not. Nope. Power down controller - count to 5 - power back up - failed.Second thought was the battery failsafe. Switched down into failsafe mode and pushed the stick up. Nada. Back into regular GPS mode - stick up BINGO. At least that's how I remember it. There's really only about 24 seconds of actual crisis. At the time it felt like 5 minutes. Since I was flying around strangers on a boat - I used my prop guards. Sort of a Catch 22 there. Yes they saved my Phantom when it hit the junk. But they also create so much drag that I would have had more than enough battery to land if I hadn't used them in the first place... Chinese Street Food - Chongqing Lost & Found Travel 2015-07-07 | Chinese street food is as varied as the country itself. Here's what we found available to eat on the streets of Chongqing. Pronounce it CHUNG-CHING. Even more than anywhere we've traveled, China is in LOVE with food on a stick. Spicy satay style chicken or pork are everywhere. While Chongqing is famous for hot-pot, the street food doesn't disappoint. Halong Bay cruise on the Dragon Legend - Ha Long Bay Lost & Found Travel 2015-06-11 | In May, Lost and Found joined forces with Indochina Junk Company to produce Halong Bay media for their newest cruise and ship-of-the-line. The Dragon Legend is a 24 cabin luxury cruise ship built (2014) in the style of a traditional Vietnamese junk. This video is a result of that collaboration.I lived on the Dragon Legend for a week, filming the cruise over and over. With me were 2 members of the Indochina Junk marketing team. Minh acted as producer and jack-of-all-trades. Anh and I both shot simultaneously. This project also marked the debut of our DJI Phantom 2 for client use. Editing was done in Hanoi by Anh and the marketing team after I returned to the US.The Dragon Legend makes the same stops as the rest of the Indochina fleet. The company has a special arrangement with the Vietnamese government to cruise into Bai Tu Long Bay, which is lies in the NE corner of the UNESCO site Halong Bay. They also maintain the private beach that you can see in the video. This was why we chose to cruise with them originally in 2013. The last thing you want to be surrounded by dozens of other boats, all pushing and shoving for the best position on the water. The whole experience with Minh and Anh was unforgettable. Being with locals instantly changes your perspective on a location. I ate, saw and learned things that were unavailable to me as a tourist. I already deeply miss my "Vietnamese Brothers." Endless Housing in Shanghai Lost & Found Travel 2015-06-07 | Unless you live in or visit Asia - at which point this is probably pretty normal...We ride the Metro in search of duplitecture. In addition we find these amazingly long and deep blocks of housing. Just take a look at the number of apartment style buildings that exist between JUST 2 stops on the outskirts of Shanghai.
