Fifth in a daily series using the themes from the Hardware Jams group for Jamuary, the prompt for Jam number five was “Imagine your Grandma taking over your setup and accidentally creating a masterpiece.”
Well, while my own grandparents are long gone, it so happens I live with a grandmother. She plays no musical instruments, so I had the brilliant idea to turn on everything in my studio, set up each instrument with a variety of sounds that I would use for doing this, and then turn Nana (my 77 year old wife Janice) loose with only 10 minutes of instruction to briefly show her how to start and stop the synths that would play forever once you touch them, and showed her my favorite 3 notes (C, Eb, G) that make up a Cm chord suggesting she stick with those if possible. The end result was truly amazing! This was the first time she has ever touched anything in my studio and was filmed in one take, so I think you’ll agree that this truly was a masterpiece.
