Want to see a more in-depth look at how I made this video? @jackofallspades98 and I do a deep dive into the inner workings of this video on the newest episode of his series - Making Connections:
It's been a whopping 2 years since the last installment of this series, and after a failed attempt at the suggestion "Launching Tricks" (along with some other demotivating factors), I thought I was never going to make another one. Around late march of this year, I was scrolling through some of my old youtube comments, noticed a couple "billiard ball trick" suggestions, and the stars must have aligned because out of nowhere something just clicked for me! For some context, in 2020, two monumental machine videos themed around billiard balls were uploaded to the community: Billiard Ball Tricks by Sirgabealot G and the 8 Ball Machine by jackofallspades98. These two videos take very different approaches to presenting billiard ball tricks: Billiard Ball Tricks (mostly) delves into different ways of utilizing the billiard ball chain effect with quick, snappy motions and pathing systems. With 8 Ball Machine, even though the motions of the tricks are also snappy and satisfying, each trick acts as it's own intricate, self-powered one-ball path, and the tricks elicit the same "WOW" response from a viewing experience, even though each trick only makes use of a single ball. Here are the videos for reference: ☆ Billiard Ball Tricks - youtube.com/watch?v=V61a7l0l16Y ☆ 8 Ball Machine - youtube.com/watch?v=IE1yRUkRk5g After thinking of a couple ideas that involved one-ball paths, and remembering a billiard ball chain idea from a couple years prior, the thought occurred to me to effectively "combine" the styles of these two videos while incorporating my own machine style to create a completely new experience. 3 months later, this video is the result!

I have a Patreon! You can support what I do here: patreon.com/joelsinventions - Behind the scenes of my new intro and my Reactica machines will be up in the next couple weeks, and I have an exclusive video planned for Patrons only that you won't want to miss! Stay tuned 🔎
Hello everyone!! It's been quite a while - feels so nice to post again! I built this machine at this year's Reactica event with the help of @jackofallspades98 and @TheContraptionKing, two of my favourite machine artists. We created something genuinely impressive for only 6 days of building and the limitation of it needing to be "one-take" reliable for the topple. Unfortunately I was only there to build for 5 days, but although I didn't see the topple in-person, the machine worked for the event!!
The collaborative approach to the event was a wonderful change of pace - very similar to ISM 2017: there was no pressure to HAVE to be the person to finish the section you're working on, so common road blocks were much easier to overcome, and it was just a lot of fun working on different tricks for different sections, contributing to different styles and themes, it never got too boring or frustrating for me!
If any of you are curious as to exactly what I built, I showed a compilation of the tricks at the end of this video, but for some further context: - 3 Rotating Ice Tracks: built with Zane @TheContraptionKing, we both brainstormed the idea, he built the main framework for the trick, and then I connected and polished it up - Ski Lift: built with Lyle @jackofallspades98, it was pretty much my idea for the motion and having a gear that spins as an indicator for the lift going up, but Lyle built most of the trick and really got to the MEAT of the trick you know? Basically Lyle is the reason that the spinning gear is actually essential to the trick working - Halfpipe: Built with Lyle, the evolution of this idea went through tons of iterations, from me to Zane to Lyle (like idea tennis lol) but it ended on Lyle with his idea to have marbles roll down the halfpipe in a sine wave. I came up with the sorting system for the ball and the marbles but that's pretty much all I built - Crossing Green Tracks: Built by myself, with a bit of connection help from Lyle. This was an idea already on my idea list, it just so happened that the green tracks that were supplied were exactly enough to make that trick so I thought why not - Monkey Swing: Oscar @bluekrabs bought the monkey and then I built the trick - since I had to leave early I had to teach everyone how to reset my confusing connections lol - Windmill: I built the mechanism, Brady @bpdolesdominoes4 made the decorations!
Also the term "Paradox" does sound a bit gimmicky, but this machine genuinely does give me past and future vibes - Past because this is the THIRD, the THIRD event machine I've helped to build that has a winter theme (ISM 2016 Antarctica and Reactica 2021 Everest) and future because this machine could easily be a machine from the future? Especially in terms of theming everything is just super polished and exactly how I would expect the community to evolve if we all kept pumping machines out at an inhuman level
Anyways, hopefully you'll get to see some stuff from me in the upcoming months! I have a job now so I wont always have time but we'll see what I can do!

This machine was made for Reactica 2021, and going along with this years theme of "The Beast", I wanted to come up with an intimidating theme for a machine that would fit perfectly for the overall event, but also work well as a standalone project, and I decided on the theme of Everest! A couple videos that inspired my approach towards this project include "A One Ball Path Adventure" by TheContraptionKing, and "Climbing a Mountain" by Flash Domino. I wanted to capture a similar vibe to both of these, and try to convey the story of the blue ball's ascent through the structures and paths it travels along. Here are both of those videos for you to watch:

This machine was made for my Domino World 2021 section and was originally going to be marketed on my channel as such, but since this project took much longer than expected, I decided to come up with something new! I settled on the idea of turning on a lamp since the one I have has an interesting mechanism for lifting up and down. I also just wanted a goal for the machine in general so that the machine has a complete "bookend", allowing the project to stand alone as its own entity outside the context of the event. 2 months later, here we are!

Here is the machine section I built for Domino World 2020! Due to the pandemic, we couldn't have the event hosted in the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum as we normally would. To make up for this, the team decided to host an online event, in which each of our individual projects built throughout the week would be screen-linked together in the final product. Half of the tricks in this machine were completely improvised, but everything ended up blending together nicely and I'm happy with how my final machine turned out!

Building a mini golf-themed machine project has been on my bucket list for a long time now, and when my friend Lyle stopped by my house for a few days during Christmas break, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to work on a mini machine like this! We ended up using an oval-shaped plastic golf ball and a long roll of fake grass from a mini golf toy I had as a kid to maintain the mini golf "aesthetic". I'm honestly really proud of the final product; this is easily the most artistic machine project I've ever worked on and it's good to know that the hours spent cutting up mini pieces of fake grass was worth it :)

After over 2 years, I finally decided to start working on a new solo machine project earlier this year. The "Mouse Trap" theme originated from a video call Lyle (jackofallspades98) and I were having in which he suggested the idea of a machine that improves upon the iconic machine from the game Mouse Trap. I thought this would be an interesting concept for a video, so I paired this idea up with my plans to build an intricate one-table machine (in the style of jackofallspades98) and just like that I had developed the perfect recipe for both success and disaster. This has been one of the most difficult projects I've ever worked on, but after 6 long months, I'm finally ready to show it off to you guys so I hope you enjoy!

Another year, another awesome domino event I get to help build! It was nice that I was able to participate in this event, especially considering I couldn't make it to Reactica with my exams schedule this year (crossing my fingers for next year). It ended up being a ton of fun though! Everyone on the team was super nice and regardless of the short time span of the event, we made great progress. I'm honestly really proud of how this machine turned out. Considering I only had 4 tricks pre-planned for my section and only three and a half days to build, I think it turned out well. My favourite tricks of the machine (muk muk swing and the sliding trix track) ended up being the ones I improvised! I don't think my section is quite as good as my Antarctica machine, but with less time, space, and builders to work on it (I built 100% of this section) I still think it holds up perfectly with my machine style.

If I was still following the set schedule for this series, 11I8 would've been out half a year ago. My building pace may have gotten slower, but hopefully this and future projects like these make up for that. I wasn't quite sure for a long time on what this episode's theme was going to be, and I eventually decided to go a simpler route considering there weren't many interesting suggestions left, so hopefully I'll get some good ones this time around. My next video should be really interesting if I can pull it off, but it's another individual project so it likely won't be out for a while

Huge thanks to Carson for allowing this collaboration to happen in the first place, as well as for putting up with my terrible procrastination. Seriously, this video could have been released almost half a year ago if it wasn't for my obnoxiously slow building pace throughout the later half of the year, so I apologize for any stress I might have caused.

About a month ago, jackofallspades98 and I met up for a week to build a full length machine. We had wanted to build a machine together for the entire year leading up to the project, so I'm glad we were finally able to check that off the list. The machine itself is themed around the concept of trick-shots, which we had decided on once we realized just how many launchers we were shoving into this project. Don't worry though, the machine is still filled with tons of new tricks/ideas if launchers weren't really your thing. To me this is without a doubt the best machine I've ever helped to create, so I hope you guys enjoy!
Machine Stats: ▶ Time spent building with Joel - 5 days ▶ Time spend building without Joel - 3 weeks ▶ Number of fails - 262 (528 including failed starts) ▶ Favourite tricks - Sliding Tube, Rotating Blocks ▶ Most failed trick - Sliding Puzzle Solver ▶ Most frustrating trick - Ball Launch #1

I know it's a little late to upload an ISM video considering the video was released a month ago, but I couldn't get some of the footage until just recently so here it is! I filmed and edited this differently from how I usually do closeups because of two main reasons:
1- The event itself was different this year, sections weren't planned and built individually, and each section was much smaller and consisted of one main trick most of the time. I also spent large amounts of time on multiple projects/sections instead of one
2- I wanted to create a more in-depth behind the scenes look at the tricks that I helped build at ISM considering the main ISM BTS videos didn't provide everything, especially when it came to machines
I didn't include every machine project because I only wanted to show projects I helped to create, and It would've made for too long a video anyway. Hopefully you guys don't mind too much that I went with this editing route, because I may potentially do the same for future events of this format

This is a project I worked on with Chase at his house before the ISM event this year. We only had 3 full days to work with, so we knew we wanted to make a full table machine. We ended up finishing by the third day, but it never worked before we had to leave, so Chase finished filming it after he got back. We had other projects in mind that we wanted to build, but the machine took us so long that we didn't have time.

It's about time I uploaded a new machine, so after over a month of work, I finally present The Coin Flipping Machine!
Why this came out late: This is my 19th machine in the series, and as you can probably tell from the late upload, not everything went so perfectly during the process of making this. For starters, this is the biggest machine I've ever built, and due to the insane number of steps, this machine takes forever to reset, and it requires an extreme amount of takes to actually make it to the end. The reason this is coming out now instead of on the 31st is simply because I couldn't get it to work by then. I had a week long vacation in a different country that lasted even longer due to delayed and cancelled flights, so I could only start filming again the day I got back, and it still took two days of filming after that. Even though this machine is uploaded in 2017, I still consider it to be a 2016 project, considering it was built and filmed then, but I just wasn't able to shoot the full take until now. Anyways, hope you guys enjoy!

This episode was the most difficult to make out of all of them so far because I had the worst case of builders block I've ever had while building a few of these clips. Wall tricks are usually fairly quick to build, but holy crap it's difficult to come up with ideas for them, especially ones that are more complex. Hopefully the next episode will come out on schedule, so it should be out on the 14th of February. Anyways, hope you guys enjoy!
This video explores something chain reaction builders recently have been getting into - magnets. Alex and I worked together to create a screenlink of 12 clips that features tricks that wouldn’t be possible without the use of magnets. We've wanted to collab for a while, and me winning the builders challenge contest gave us the perfect opportunity to do so. Hope you guys enjoy!
Regular screenlinks are cool, but what if we took them to the next level? Jackofallspades98 and I teamed up to create the most complex screenlink ever, with a giant interconnected path, crazy transitions, and insane chain reaction tricks!
As you can imagine, an intense amount of planning had to go into this to make this video work. Lyle and I spent weeks planning and building the tricks, connections, and of course the many transitions that had to be made for this collab to work. In the end, the trick that was personally the most frustrating for me was the triple tilting autotilt board. Normally, autotilts aren't too much of a struggle for me, as most I've built in the past have had a fairly high reliability. This one, however, decided to be the opposite of that. This trick broke my record for most time taken to film a trick, which used to be 7 hours, and now it's 16 hours :|. Anyways, I think this video turned out great, and by that I mean it's probably the best video I've ever uploaded. Hope all the work paid off and you guys enjoy it :D!

Hey guys! The reason this episode was a bit delayed is because I was already on a huge time constraint to begin with, but then while building the herringbone chain multi use element, the power went out for the whole day, so I could only work on parts without hot glue, making it take much longer to finish. This was the first machine related video I edited in Power Director and I think it turned out well so I hope you guys enjoy!

The theme of this CCC (Community Collaboration Contest) entry was CSeaC, so TheRGMGuy01 used objects that started with the letter C, Flashdomino built a domino project based around the Sea, and I did tricks in the shapes of C's.
TheRGMGuy01's C Use objects in order: 1- Canadian (me lol) 2- Clementine 3- Cello 4- Cones 5- Cog 6- Cup 7- Chopsticks 8- Cans 9- Calculator 10- Catapult 11- Colored Pencils 12- Chair 13- CDs 14- Charger 15- Camera 16- Cooler 17- Computer 18- Cellphone
Why Flashdomino was allowed to enter twice: So as you may or may not know, in order to enter the CCC this year you need to have one builder create a machine, one builder create a screenlink, and one builder create a domino setup. Basically what happened is the builder in our group who was supposed to build the domino project dropped out at the last second, and we couldn't find a replacement, So Michael and Lyle (the hosts of the contest) allowed us to choose a builder that had already created an entry. Because of this, if we place in the contest, Alex will not be receiving any of the prizes we earn on this team, and will instead earn the prizes earned by his original team.
This is my fourth entry for a contest hosted by E VoltageRGMs and berlagawesome. The "challenge" part of this builders challenge is to use a pool stick to shoot billiard balls into gates that open up each time one is shot. Hope you guys enjoy!

Hey guys! This is the third episode of 11 Inventions, and this time I was challenged by DominoPerson 5 to create tricks using pulleys. I thought of using this idea for the second episode, but I decided to move it an episode forward due to the second episode taking place on valentines day, making it more fitting for the heart shapes theme. Anyways, hope you guys enjoy!
It's about time for a new machine! Sirgabealot G and I decided to team up to make two full length machines with the goal of using as many foreign objects as possible. After a couple months of planning, two weeks of building, and more than 50 fails from both of our machines combined, these are the final products. Hope you guys enjoy!
This is an entry for a contest hosted by EVoltageRGMs and berlagawesome. The "challenge" of this builders challenge is to rotate the orange gear which affects the orientation and position of 5 tracks, spins a propeller, and which I eventually have to pick up to place on a K'nex track. Hope you guys enjoy!
Hey guys! For this episode I was challenged by StickTrickDominoDude to make every trick contain a heart shape, and because this episode came out on valentines day that seemed pretty fitting. Hope you guys enjoy!
Finally time for a new machine! After 3 days of filming and over 400 tries (a new machine fail record), I decided my machine wasn't going to work all the way through anytime soon, and I needed to get it done by the next day, so I decided to screenlink it. Hopefully you guys don't mind too much that I had to make this decision
Also for those of you who don't know how I managed to just float the puck into the goal, the plastic golf ball released from the net falls down into a large hot wheels funnel, and comes out hitting a piece of cardboard with a domino attached to it, which then releases a billiard ball to go down and turn on a power strip, turning on the air hockey table. The table is slanted, allowing the puck to float into the goal.
Hey guys! Since it seems like just about every single machine builder has their own original series, I thought I might as well start one of my own. This series is going to consist of 11 videos, each containing 11 new chain reaction machine tricks. The theme, rule, or type of trick is going to be decided by the comments on each video.
