But in March 1945, everything changed. Refugees flooded the town, fleeing the chaos of the Eastern Front. Then, on the 12th, over 600 American bombers unleashed more than a thousand tons of bombs at the request of the Red Army. The town was devastated. Thousands were killed—families, soldiers, refugees. Non-existent.”So I replace the rear suspension unit on my Suzuki TL1000S using a second-hand spring and banana joint I picked up from eBay. We flew the drone on the our way from Tortosa before completing the 60 mile journey. We manage to ride through the Aragon Race Circuit for the first time but no racing was on. The Parador Alcaniz is a lovely castle perched on top of the towns hill with great views. One of our stops was the Castell de la Suda (St John Castle) which includes the Parador Hotel we stayed in. It was badly damaged during the Spanish Civil War and since 1972 has been a “Parador Nacional", a state-run hotel, which has involved large-scale restoration work. Walls, arches, the magazine, a room with trefoil windows, the courtyard and underground galleries survive from the old fortifications.
