The first thought this guy has when he wakes up is probably “What a wonderful morning, time to traumatise Hunter and Luz!”The monster walk cycle didn’t turn out quite as menacing as I wanted, so I edited it to look like it was getting closer. There’s 12 frames in the walk cycle in case anyone was wondering. Also every screenshot I had as a reference seemed to have different patterns, so I mixed a few together.Because of the fast moving scenes and the blurry edits in the middle, I thought it was best to add an eyestrain warning just in case.Who else is excited for the new episode? I definitely am.I can’t wait to see if Belos finally gets his butt kicked, and what stuff The Collector has been doing all this time. I also want to see what happens if The Collector meets Hooty; either they’ll be besties or Hooty will annoy him so much that The Collector just leaves The Boiling Isles forever.If you haven’t watched The Owl House, go and watch it, it’s so good! It’s one of those shows that starts off looking all wholesome and then gets super dark. I guess this kind of counts as a horror AU (I don’t have any actual stories for them though.) Burn’s design is supposed to be like Frankenstein’s monster because of her obsession with weird things, the fact that she has lots of battle scars, and because apparently various dragons (including Scarlet) have given her gifts of various animals that have been sewn together. Scarlet wasn’t particularly based on anything; I just wanted to have a go at drawing her with an exaggerated melted face. Darkstalker is supposed to look demonic so I’m calling him ‘Demonstalker’.I’d also planned to include Albatross as a ghost, but there was only room for 3 characters in the meme.The horror warning is mostly for Scarlet because of the whole half-melted-face and the muscles showing on her neck, but Burn’s design also leans more on the horror side too, so I thought it was best to add a warning.I’m very pleased with how the designs turned out. I wasn’t very fond of Demonstalker’s design to start with, but it was the 5th colour scheme I tried and it’s growing on me. The editing also turned out nicely, with all parts having more freedom of movement to make the characters look more chaotic.I had no idea what to do for the backgrounds but the idea came to me a day before I started editing. I made backgrounds for the land in each of their kingdoms and tried to give it a rushing, zooming effect like the backgrounds in the videos I was inspired by (linked below). First year of Art Fight and I did 42 attacks in 30 days!I’m very pleased with myself and also very tired.I tried to do as many fullbody drawings as possible and while the earliest drawings did have backgrounds, as usual I lost motivation and ideas, so in the end I just did simple colour backgrounds, but I think they still look Ok. I edited parts of the song to test my editing and also so it didn’t end up being way too long.Fun fact! My shading is improving though!Thought this meme was appropriate for a RainWing so of course I chose Glory. I was originally going to have her change colours when she switched between different emotions, but due to the really fast pacing and the fact that there’s only 6 frames before each new emotion, I thought it would just look really messy and would probably give everyone eyestrain so I just stuck to her regular colours.[SPOILER:] I guess the video only really contains one spoiler and you kind of have to look hard to tell what it is, but in one scene I added a flower crown on Glory’s head to signify that she had become the RainWing Queen. I started this in September.Fun fact! I’d originally planned to have this done for Halloween. However due to art block and other various reasons, it got delayed, but here it is. (I actually finished this a few weeks ago but it was too close to Christmas to upload it)I have to say, this is probably some of my best dragon art so far, I’m really happy with this! Of course you can see some backgrounds I gave up on but what else is new. The shading directions don’t always make sense, but I’m getting better ^^I think my favourite parts are ‘Queen Wasp’ and ‘Queen Battlewinner.’ I thought adding a border would look pretty fancy. The dragon skeletons in the corners were to keep with the spooky theme; they’re probably not anatomically correct but I still like them ^^I think the only part that had actual gore in it was Arctic’s, but I thought I should add a warning anyway, even though it’s badly drawn.I am fully aware that lots of these characters aren’t dead yet, I just tried to use scenes that best fitted the song. Some of them don’t really make sense, but this was the best I think of. If you’re not sure what the scene is, you are welcome to ask as some may be a little obscure. 【Things We Lost In The |Wings Of| Fire - A WoF Animator Tribute】 EmeraldTheDragon 2021-11-13 | My first animator tribute! I’m so happy with how this turned out, all the different animations work so well together. The lipsync of some parts even line up nicely even though they were originally for other songs.I included people with all different levels of skills, not just super experienced well-known animators because these people are super underrated and deserve way more attention and it’s also nice to have a variety of talents. I was drawn to these for various reasons such as the style, fluid animation, shading, or beautiful editing. Some of the videos I used may be a bit older because I was trying to find ones that included canon WoF characters instead of OC’s, or the animator may not have made more recent WoF content, and a lot of them have improved even further since!Please don’t be upset or take it personally if you weren’t included! It took it’s time and I feel it was definitely worth the wait!I know I always say this, but I’m so proud of everyone! Even though some parts (including some of my own) are old, they still look fantastic.So the theme for this MAP was to make your part ‘emotional,’ whether in a happy or a sad way, it was up to the participants and how the song speaks to them.If you’re new to this sort of thing and don’t really understand what this is, I’ll explain. Among the animation community ‘MAP’ stands for: Multi Animator Project. Multiple people animate short parts of the same song which are then put together to make videos like this one. As this is an OC (Original Character) MAP, the characters used are ones created by the participants. There is no overlapping story to the whole video, but most parts have their own little stories going on.So the main song is a pitched version of the real song which plays during the outro. Why did I add an outro even though I included watermarks and an intro with everyone’s names? Because I like making those types of outros, they look so fancy.I realise now that there’s a few spelling mistakes in there, so I guess I forgot to bring that up when the parts were first made and I wasn’t able to change them when I was putting this together. You may have noticed that I’ve changed my style for drawing talons because I wanted to try something different.If anyone remembers this guy, you have an amazing memory because he only appeared in 2 videos, both of which are speedpaints. This is the first time I’ve animated him and oh gosh drawing all those scales was PAINFUL. Could I have simplified the design? Probably. Will I? Lol nope.So his name is Mirage and he’s one of my WoF (Wings of Fire) OCs. He’s a SandWing/HiveWing hybrid. He has the poisonous tail barb of a SandWing but he also has a long stinger that extends from the end of the barb that causes psychedelic hallucinations that can last up to 3 hours. The stinger won’t kill it’s victim but the tail barb can; however Mirage will only kill a dragon who is trying to kill him first.He’s a talented thief and pickpocket who lives in the Scorpion Den among the other thieves. He can be hired for a suitable price but has been known to steal an item for a client, receive payment and then return in the night to steal the item back from the client, obtaining both the item and the payment. Anyone who wishes to hire him would be wise not to meet at their home. While he can be hired for various thieving jobs, Mirage will never take a job involving murder, as he doesn’t like killing other dragons.He also refuses to steal from: dragonets, the sick or elderly or from orphanages. There have also been a few occasions where an orphanage receives an anonymous donation when Mirage was spotted in the general area. Does he have a heart deep down? He’d never admit it but it seems possible.While he is a talented thief, he often ends up losing the treasure he’s stolen as he likes getting into drunken bar fights, or isn’t careful enough with where he keeps his treasure. He’s not too bothered though; he’s actually more interested in the challenge of getting the treasure, than the actual treasure itself. He’s not interested in a relationship; however he will flirt with any dragon regardless of their gender if it will help distract them while he steals their coin purse, or to gain valuable information on a target or location. He can be surprisingly charming when he wants to be.Despite being excellently stealthy, his unique appearance is impossible to disguise and when he is seen visiting other cities and items mysteriously vanish, it’s not too hard to figure out who took them. He has bounties out for him in several kingdoms but has yet to be caught as he is a deadly fighter and only really foolish dragons would dare challenge him with his dangerous barb and stinger.Only one dragon has actually tried to kill him: an IceWing who responded to a ‘wanted dead or alive’ poster on Mirage. Mirage managed to slice his throat with his tail barb, and wears the IceWing’s tail spikes on a necklace as a warning. He found out that ironically the IceWing was also a wanted criminal, however he was wanted for multiple murders. Mirage presented the IceWings body to the IceWing Queen who grudgingly gave him the bounty and agreed to get rid of Mirage’s own bounty. Of course items still mysteriously vanished whenever Mirage was around…I’m still trying to work out the full backstory of how his parents met, I have most of it sorted but there’s still some things I may need to change and I need to work out the timeline.The editing is so rushed, I squeezed it all into the last 2 days and there’s a few parts I feel could have looked better but I just didn’t have the time to fix them. I hope this doesn’t look too bad because I’m out of practice with drawing frame by frame.I didn’t have time to shade all the scenes, but the ones I did do actually came out so nice. So this was supposed to be a Pride Month special, but as you can see I’m super late because June snuck up on me and I didn’t start this early enough. Even though it’s not June anymore, I hope you still enjoy this wholesome Pride PMV starring my WoF OC’s.For anyone who isn’t sure, Dawn is a SandWing/RainWing hybrid and Moonseeker is a NightWing and they’re girlfriends. They meet for the first time at Jade Mountain Academy during the current events of the WoF books. They are both placed in the Gold Winglet (Moonseeker is the replacement for Bigtail and Dawn is the replacement for Onyx) and they’re Clawmates (roommates).[And they were roommates…]Moonseeker is a lesbian and has a huge crush on Dawn from pretty much the moment they meet. Dawn is bi and becomes best friends with Moonseeker from the beginning and later develops feelings for her over the next few months. 6 months into the Academy and Moonseeker accidently confesses her feelings for Dawn and they start dating. 5 years later they get married in the rainforest and each wear heart shaped earrings with a gem that contains the colours of the other.If you missed it, here's the speedpaint of the wedding: youtube.com/watch?v=iaX5p-gYy04The PMV shows the time they spent together at Jade Mountain and I hope I portrayed their wholesomeness well enough ^^The only canon characters in the video are Fatespeaker who is in the first (indoor) shot handing out welcome scrolls to new students, and Queen Glory at the end. The other characters in the video are random dragonets I’ve created for the video but haven’t given any backstories yet. For names I was thinking maybe Cocoa for the MudWing, Pierce for the IceWing and Caramel for the SkyWing.I tried to draw the backgrounds using only the colours of the lesbian and bi pride flags, but I’ve never been hugely great at colour palettes so most of the caves were just the oranges on the lesbian flag with the other colours scattered around in various places. The background during the wedding is in normal colours because I previously did a speedpaint of that scene and I loved how it came out so I didn’t want to change the colours. I just realised I messed up and there’s a scene where Dawn is holding a basket of normal coloured apples which I coloured before deciding on the flag palette but it’s too late to change that now.I’ve never been great at drawing backgrounds and you can see which ones I actually put effort into, and which ones I really didn’t, but either way I hope it still looks Ok. My proportions are off in some scenes; someday I promise I will actually try to study proportions, perspectives and backgrounds properly but apparently today is not that day.For some reason my dumb brain thought I could edit this together in 2 days… ha, yeah, so naturally it took over a week. Queen Glory is in background holding a scroll and officiating the wedding.For those of you who don't know, these 2 are my WoF OC's. Dawn is a SandWing/RainWing hybrid and Moonseeker is a NightWing. I've actually drawn Emerald wearing a scarf with the Ace colours on it for a few of my previous winter/Christmas videos; well done to anyone who noticed that before ^^I made my shading lighter than usual. And after almost another month of fighting these parts, they're finally done! That awkward moment when part of the sketch looks better than the finished part XDCould I have done this as completely PMV? Probably. Did I? No because my dumb brain told me to animate it instead because apparently I like to make myself suffer.I did the fancy thing where you show the different stages. I also tried doing 'keyframes' which I don't usually do, which is why the first sketch looks all jerky. The reason there's no lineart stage on it's own is because I colour my frames as I go instead of doing all the lineart first and then going back and colouring everything.My lipsync has improved, but I'm out of practice with animating and a lot of frames have different proportions because completing this was such a battle against myself; I've just been so tired lately. Watching the finished parts, I do like this a lot more now than when I was actually working on it.How many frames are in this? This was originally just going to be a Peril MAP and then I thought the song fitted Anemone quite well too, and then I threw in Burn and Blister because why not.I’m so honoured to have hosted this beautiful MAP, everyone did a fantastic job and I couldn’t be happier with the finished result. I'm so happy with Whiteout's eye!So this MAP is kind of an AU where the dragons are designed as puppets and honestly all the character designs and the overall aesthetic of the MAP are super creative!The word 'Dollhouse' is blue because it's supposed to be Arctic's stuffing, and the torn fabric it's on has Arctic's colours... I don't know how to draw stuffing properly so it just looks weird.They have 5 fingers! What is this witchcraft?There's 4 layers of darker shading and 1-2 layers for light shading.Sorry if this gives anyone eyestrain: this is 3 hours of work condensed into about 4 minutes so the video's faster than I thought it would be. Also I was constantly having to look at the character references so that's what keeps flashing during the line-art and colouring stages. [WoF & OC] I remade some old MAP parts [2019 - 2021] EmeraldTheDragon 2021-04-19 | So this is what I’ve actually been working on since I finished my 2k special. I decided to remake some of my old MAP parts as most of these are close to being finished. 6 remade MAP parts for 4 different MAP’s. All of these parts are for my MAP’s (which are currently closed). The timing of the scenes in the old and new ones is a bit off because I couldn’t find what the original timing was. Who else got chills reading this chapter?There's nothing spectacular about the shading, I just really wanted to draw this.The book itself was excellent! It certainly didn't hold back on the disturbing stuff. This probably won't win, but that's Ok because I still enjoyed making this ^^Gosh it's been absolutely AGES since I've done a colour pencil drawing like this, I totally forgot what I was doing to start with. I think my last traditional drawing was a tonal drawing back in July 2020???This was such a gorgeous character design, it inspired me to finally do a colour drawing for the first time in a few years.The pose is very simple because I wanted to focus more on the colours/details. Each different colour had multiple different shades blended together, usually around 4 or so. The hardest part was trying to get the different hair colours to blend together but I'm really happy with the outcome.The colours are more vibrant on the actual drawing but unfortunately my camera is really old so the quality is a little off. Also that is the full picture: I accidentally drew the wing and horns a bit too close to the edge of the paper. I probably won't do another one of these for a while though, and I'm not taking requests, sorry.Drawn with Crayola colour pencils. It took longer than I thought it would because of the amount of frames and also because I've been really busy and tired but here it is at last! I also had a go at drawing an almost line-less Emerald at the start there ^^Treated you to some front facing dragons. Dawn's face actually looks pretty good from the front. I know the snout makes no sense when compared with the side view but just go with it.If anyone's a little confused, Frost is throwing some gold confetti and Moonseeker did a drawing of a gold star and is pointing at the screen because she thinks you're a star ^^This is nothing like the original meme as my brain couldn't process the timing and I wanted this to be animated instead of PMV for a change. I tried to keep the proportions consistent but there's a few frames where the proportions got yeeted out the window and they also have slightly muscular shoulders. My brain completely shut down trying to figure out how to draw Dawns arms, and Moonseeker's wings were painful to do.I ironically made the background before starting on the actual frames, not that I had a clue what I was doing. Despite how complex this was I actually really enjoyed making it. I'm trying to work on my shading and backgrounds because I know I need to improve them. I'm still not sure if I got the perspectives and shading directions right, but it's an improvement ^^So this is for a scripted Wings of Fire MAP based on Book 6. For my parts I got the History Cave fire and that scene where Moon and Qibli question Onyx and Moon discovers why she can't read her mind. (The little SandWing asking to hold the necklace is Ostrich)In that first scene with the SandWings on the rocks, Onyx looks like a gang leader XDAlso I just want to be clear: the fire in part 16 IS NOT FRAME BY FRAME ANIMATION: it's 3 separate fire frames with an effect called 'Wave' added to them to make them move like that. (I'm not that good at animating fire)Moon's design is based on the one in the MAP call, but with some added colours for more details. The floating 'thought bubbles' were also inspired by the MAP call art. I actually got hooked in by Winter's design but I asked for a Peril part because this was the only one I could visualize in my head.Some of the scenes are a little fast so you may need to pause them.The editing got ridiculously complicated because the characters are supposed to have a colour outline. I thought I had an option that added that but it only worked on one side and I could only get it to surround the whole character if it was super blurry, so INSTEAD I had to have 2 sets of frames. 1 set with the outline, 1 set without, apply the same movements to each and constantly edit and layer them together until they were in the right order. So that's why the outlines are a bit wonky and have tiny shades of other colours. How nice ;0;There was no mention of shading in the rules so I left that out because this was already complicated enough already.Spoiler for 1 & 5 because Kestrel dies in book 1 but it's book 5 when Sunny tells Peril about it. [SPEEDPAINT] Realistic Emerald EmeraldTheDragon 2020-10-26 | Tried to do a detailed 'realistic' drawing of emerald, and by realistic I mean I drew tons and tons of scales on her. I think I actually spent half an hour just drawing the scales XDI'm really proud of the eye! The scales on her face were meant to be round/oval but my laptop messed me up and most of them came out with straight edges...I changed the size so that I didn't end up with half the drawing being just background.I didn't know what song to use, and I'm not sure if it really fits the drawing but I like the song and I don't think I've used it yet??I know it's been a little while since my last video, but I have actually been working on stuff! 【6 Years of EmeraldTheDragon】||2014 - 2020|| EmeraldTheDragon 2020-10-03 | Wow, 6 whole years!!! I can’t believe I started this channel on the 2nd of October 2014 (I know this premieres on the 3rd but that’s because unfortunately I won’t be active on the 2nd)It’s been a long journey and it was worth every moment! I’ve improved so much, learned so much and made some truly wonderful friends ^^If you’ve been here since near the beginning, thank you so much for sticking with me for so long: you guys are all awesome and we’ve all come such a long way together! And to those of you who found me more recently and decided to stay, THANK YOU! You’ve all been tremendously kind to me, whether you left me nice comments, said you liked my videos or even told me that one of my videos improved your day or inspired you; it’s such a wonderful feeling to know that so many people like my content and that this year you all felt that I was worthy to reach 1K. Thank you all for your love and support for the last 6 years, I look forward to making new content for you all!And throughout the entire 6 years, my name has always been EmeraldTheDragon, and it’s a name I can be proud of. [SPEEDPAINT] The Greatest Treasure Of All (backstory in description) EmeraldTheDragon 2020-09-24 | A smol Emerald hatches while her parents smile down at her. I finally made some designs for her parents! Meet her mother, Grace (left) and her father, Flare (right). Like Emerald both of them are fire breathing dragons, but none of them are completely immune to fire.(Please note: None of them are WoF dragons and they exist in another world)Emerald was named for her shiny green scales and the 2 emerald gems on her scales. Lots of dragons will hatch in clutches with several siblings, but it is also not unusual for a dragon to lay just one egg: Emerald has no siblings.While it is not unusual for dragons to hatch with different colouring to their parents, it is incredibly rare for a dragon to hatch with gems attached to them and only happens every few hundred years. Some dragons wear jewellery or will add gems into the spaces between their scales, but Emerald’s gems are fused to her scales and could not be removed without seriously injuring or killing her as she has a small one located on her forehead and a large one on her chest.How this phenomenon occurs is unknown, but there have been old stories about other dragons who hatched from their eggs with a jewel attached somewhere on their bodies…When a dragon mother lays her egg(s) she will instinctively know what kind of nest to make for it. Some dragons will seek out all sorts of treasure and gems to heap into a pile for their eggs as was the case with Emerald’s egg. Other dragons will simply collect things like heated rocks, snow, shells, soft moss or even just super crunchy leaves if that’s what they desire. It depends on the type of dragon and their abilities: for example, ‘lava dragons’ (who are completely immune to all types of heat and fire) normally lay their eggs inside volcanoes. There were several emeralds on her parents treasure hoard, right by her egg. What actually happened is unknown but it is thought that the gems ‘called’ to Emerald as she grew inside her egg and she called back to them, and somehow the gems grew on her scales with her.As she grows, Emerald discovers she has the ability known as ‘Gem-Seer.’ When looking at an emerald gem, if she casts her mind towards it, she can connect to other emeralds and see through them to what is happening in another location anywhere in the world. She is also able to sense the location of any emeralds within a 10 mile radius, even if they’re underground or at the bottom of the sea. Of course for her, this only works with emeralds and not other types of gems such as diamonds or rubies.In the rare cases where other dragons hatched with various gems fused to them, they would also have had the same abilities corresponding to the type of jewel they had. Emerald also discovers that if she tries hard enough, she can connect to an emerald and see the past memories of other Gem-Seer’s. However she only tries this once after witnessing the memories of the brutal death of the dragon she connected to.When Emerald was old enough to leave her home and travel to a new mountain range to live, she would still often visit her parents.
