Just want to say that this show blew me away. I can't remember being so passionate about a TV show. It's been a while. Such morally grey characters, and well-flushed out too. Loved every minute of it.

With this video, I wanted to compare both father/daughter relationships, how Vi parallels Vander + how Jinx parallels Silco, and also how Vander and Silco parallel Vi and Jinx. So many parallels haha. It's interesting how the daughters are almost protégés of their father figures.

I also think it's just humorous how Silco couldn't understand how Vander was choosing to protect his kids and then later on he's like "ah... nvm, I get it now."

And just to check, I am not the only one who saw Silco as like a middle-aged Kaz Brekker, right? I also think that that's part of the reason why I love Silco so much. He's so close to how Kaz was in the six of crows book series. They're just so similar, backstory and everything. I hope I'm not the only one :/

Alexa Lexie 2023-03-27 | this isn't necessarily a "fix it" type of thing. just wanted to mess around with the quotes from the books and piece them together with the footage we have from shadow and bone. Not too happy with how it came out, so I think I will either delete this or work on it some more and upload it again some other time. this also was supposed to be short and sweet edit, but it turned out longer than I had wanted it to be :P

I went back and began rereading the books to see that, if they were to adapt six of crows, things would remain mostly the same. And I can say that I am honestly not too worried about it. I understand why they put kanej's "stay in ketterdam" scene at the end of the season, because if the show were to follow closely to the books, they would need to create a rift between kaz and inej. Their relationship had developed over these past two seasons, but at the beginning of the six of crows duology, they have not had any development yet. So putting that kanej scene was a way to set them back a few steps. And I honestly think that the kanej scenes in the first book are going to be way more angsty because that conversation will be like a pink elephant in the room. It'll be the reason why Kaz will try to push her away more, and why Inej will become more cautious around Kaz like how she was in the books.

As for other scenes that were adapted from the books. I don't really want to consider them full adaptations because in the show it seems like those scenes are actually setups for the scenes to come. The writers have left room for themselves to fully adapt these scenes, or to expand on them, to make them grander. For instance, Kaz helping Inej with her wound. It's not THE bathroom scene, but it is set up for it. The confrontational scene with Kaz and Pekka, which was actually one of the last plot points at the end of crooked kingdom. In this adaptation, it seems like the first step in their feud, rather than the last. And the fact that Pekka's in Hellgate, there's a possibility that he will call the shots while he's in there, which will make for a bigger shock to the crows when they get ambushed and find out that Pekka was behind it. For Kaz to get his revenge, it's gonna take more than just throwing Pekka in Hellgate.

(I'm writing this and it's super late, so I'm sorry if I don't make much sense :P)

I really do hope we get a spinoff of Six of Crows. I feel like it still has a lot of great potential.

I’m not too bothered by the fact that they adapted scenes similar to the books. Seems like they’re doing it out of courtesy in case the spinoff six of crows show doesn’t get picked up.

What I also had trouble with was the song choice. Nothing seemed to fit them right. Johnny Goth, one of my favorite musicians, dropped a song called "Black Christmas" that was inspired by Elvis's "Blue Christmas." Felt that it fit this couple really well.

Alexa Lexie 2022-12-17 | I know it's a weird and unusual song choice, I’m sorry! But this song pretty much captured what I wanted to go with for this edit, so I couldn’t pass on it :P just saying this in advance because I have a feeling I'm going to get bashed for it :/

“I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I’ll never see... the ego that started this fight will never have a mirror, or an audience, or the light of gratitude.”

There are many themes explored in Andor, some darker than others. I’m more drawn to those darker themes, the darker side of rebellion, and what it takes. Other Star Wars content doesn’t show this grim side as often, which makes sense, since the typical themes of Star Wars are centered around hope and family.

These people aren’t the faces of the rebellion. Ordinary people. Some of them are at the bottom of the barrel. They will never be recognized for what they’ve done. They make sacrifices no one will know about, and if they die for it, no one will know their names. But they have to believe enough in the cause to fight anyway, regardless of the fact that it may be useless.

It’s the courage that spreads like wildfire, trickles through the masses, ensuing chaos. And that’s what I really wanted to show, too. All the chaos of a rampant rebellion. I absolutely love how the water trickles down to the other units because it’s like a visual, physical representation of the uprising reaching the rest of the prisoners. But instead of spreading like “fire," it's spread by water droplets, which I found interesting. Maybe it’s because fire, no matter how small the flame is, can still inflict harm. On the other hand, a small droplet of water isn’t dangerous. It’s completely harmless. But a real body of water, like a dam of water, or a tsunami? That can cause some serious damage. A water droplet is harmless. A tsunami is. Idk, that’s my analysis of it I guess.

I also love how realistic Andor is in how terrified people are. How Vel was stalling, ready to back out of the heist because she knew there’d be no turning back. How that prisoner’s hand is shaking before the prison break attempt. It’s a kind of fear that’s paralyzing, and it takes a lot of guts to push through.

Another thing: Something I’ve noticed with Cassian is that, in some way, he inspired the uprisings in this show. He was the one who pushed for the prison break. He’s one of the main reasons why they made it out of that “bank heist” alive, and that they were able to pull it off. And being a part of that heist, Cassian had indirectly inspired Maarva, which led her to make that holographic speech to the crowd at her funeral, then inspiring people to fight back. It just makes so much sense that in Rogue One, he was able to rally up enough crew to help Jyn get the Death Star plans. He’s not one to give inspirational speeches, but he is able to bring people together in an indirect, subtle way. And that’s why I think Maarva called him the “...first spark of the fire.”

side note: there really should be more Peeta Mellarks out there in the world. Such a soft, kind heart, and it's sad that men like him are not really shown in media that much either because he isn't considered traditionally masculine. But I really want to see more men in media like that :) Really goes to show that the Hunger Games was ahead of its time.

I wanted to contrast the seriousness with the quirkiness, a chaotic kind of edit. also, I know I've used this song before, but I couldn't resist.

I binged the 3rd season of umbrella academy and had a quick inspiration strike. This is the product of that inspiration strike.

Even though what Five said was pretty harsh toward Viktor, it did need to be said though. There have been instances where Five had been patient and lenient with Viktor. Five would let him make a choice. It happened in season 2, where Five let Viktor say goodbye to Sissy and Harlan, but only if he makes it to the alley on time. He didn't. And now with Viktor trying to protect Harlan, which he believed was the right thing to do again, it backfires. And this scene with them two in season 3 was kind of where Five's patience wore thin. So I get it, but damn, right after that confrontation with Allison and Viktor. Whew. 💀 I still understand though. Viktor kept vital information away from his family. And it ticked Five off.

Seems like this conversation is foreshadowing something. I wonder if, at some point in season 4, Five will have to face that decision, of killing Viktor. Because it almost feels like what Five is asking of Viktor, goes against Viktor's core values. Maybe Viktor can't bear to not save certain people in the next season, and we'll have to see if Five was bluffing or not when he said he'd kill him. I hope not, though :'))

Whatever victory Yoda was talking about, it's almost as if they're still searching for it, holding onto hope that they will get there someday. But they've been going in circles over and over, with this push and pull of the dark and the light. Constantly revolving around one another, but never fully joining forces.

Alexa Lexie 2022-04-04 | so I was watching a youtube video talking about Ekko's character, and at some point, the person had mentioned that Ekko is kind of an alternate version of Jinx. Not literally, but Ekko is what Jinx could have been, if she listened to Vi and stayed. I found the topic interesting, so it prompted me to make this edit.

They do have a lot of parallels, with the animal symbolism. Jinx is sometimes associated with a crow, and Ekko is associated with a firelight. They also have their own art styles and have grown into them. The spray paint with Ekko, and the scribbled drawings with Jinx. I just think it's interesting haha.

I've been waiting for this movie for so long!!! Saw it twice in theaters, both dubbed and subbed and I absolutely loved it. I read the manga for it about a year ago, so it was super cool to see everything animated. Can't wait for him to return to the JJK series!!

Yuta's my favorite character in JJK. I just adore him. I always have a soft spot for protagonists who are burdened by their abilities. His story and his story with Rika are eerie, and I DIE for eerie yet bittersweet stories. I might remake this when I get my hands on the Blu-ray release.

Never thought I'd be editing twilight but here I am haha.

Can’t really remember how or why I got back into the series but it happened a while ago. Not so much the movies, but the books. The books are just way better than the movies since there is so much detail, and also the characters feel more real (more like they have way more distinct personalities).

I guess because I’m older, I'm able to appreciate it more, especially the writing. The way Stephanie writes is just so beautiful. I read Midnight Sun entirely. I just loved the little details of the Cullens, and there were a lot since he ruminates so much and could read their thoughts. I especially loved the little details of Alice and Jasper. Anytime they were mentioned, I just... GAHHH. They are so cute. And they're the most interesting to me, their love story, how they interact, they're just so unconventional. He was a violent, gruesome soldier and she's like this manic pixie, it's just an odd pairing that it works. It's sweet ❤

I started this project a while ago, and just now I finally returned to it and finished it.

Alexa Lexie 2022-01-31 | This is edited as if Rey were a Kenobi. I did like how Rey was a nobody with absolutely no lineage, but I honestly wouldn't have minded if she was Obi-Wan's granddaughter.

We had witnessed Anakin’s fall, as he was manipulated by Palpatine, but with Ben, we would see the reverse of that. We see that he has been manipulated, and his journey would be to grow and recover from that. Obi-Wan and Anakin didn't have a common enemy at the end of ROTS, but at the end of TROS, Ben and Rey did, which was Palpatine.

The voice of Obi-Wan played a key role in Rey's vision in TFA, almost like he’s trying to guide her, as a parent or guardian would in their absence. He warns her that she’ll be tempted, he calls out her name, and he tells her that "these are [her] first steps." So I think they had originally planned for her to be a Kenobi. I'm not sure why they backed out on it. Probably because Rian wanted to go a different route and make her a nobody. In a way, it would’ve been a nice way to wrap the saga. It began with Skywalkers and Kenobis and I wouldn’t have minded if they ended with Skywalkers and Kenobis once more.

And not to mention the contrasting elements of fire and water in their last battles. They would be the inverse of each other. So it would’ve been that Obi-Wan and Anakin had lost their way, but their grandchildren had been able to find their way, which would've been bringing balance to the force together. I think that way things would've come full circle. It could've been one of the ways they could've wrapped up the series. I don't know, food for thought?

I came upon it again and thought I might post it here.

I've been meaning to make an edit longer than this, like an AU kind of edit where Ben survives, but I can never finish one 💀. Hopefully, in the future, I will be able to finish one. Kinda seems a little late to do one too, but eh? I'll post one anyway haha.

I remember making this AU because I felt that Luke and Ben never got closure. They met up in TLJ, but to me, that wasn't even close to closure because, for the most part, Ben was trying to kill Luke most of the time.

I feel that maybe they would've been able to have a conversation if Luke was a force ghost. Because Luke was pretty much described as the one that drove Ben to the dark side and essentially isolated himself on Ahch-to due to overwhelming guilt, I would have wanted to see how that conversation would've gone. Because I highly doubt that Ben knew the reasoning of Luke isolating himself and he probably didn't care, but for him to possibly find out? I don't know!!!! As I said, I would've wanted to see how that conversation would've gone ://

Belated Happy New Year! Hope everyone is enjoying 2021 so far! ❤

So this is so messy!!! This is my first edit of these two, so I feel iffy about it. Didn’t necessarily turn out as I wanted it to. I feel like I lost the quirkiness of them in the edit, but I tried :/ I think I nailed their fucked-upedness… I think.

I binge-watched this show last month, and these two are my new obsession. I had no idea how much I’d fall in love with this series. Because of how vulgar it was, I didn’t expect to like it. I fell in love with it instead. It’s so blunt, quirky, and hilarious. The duality that Peter and Catherine have is so bizarre. I’m so lost on how toxic they can be but also endearing and adorable at the same time. It’s intriguing, and it’s why I love their dynamic so much. I want to thank @beafelicity and @GossipVal1 for their glorious edits of these two and for getting me interested in this show!!

I wanted to parallel them, show their aggressive, unhinged side, and then the soft side they have for one another, so it kind of gradually shifts into each. I remember Peter mentioning that they do have things in common and then struggled to name what they were, the only thing he could come up with was that they were both pretty, but they in fact do have things in common, in some ways, hence the parallels I’ve tried to make. And once Catherine’s ruthless side emerges, Peter comments that her ruthlessness is what makes them perfect for each other.

I am so scared though because I worry that they will have a tragic ending. Gosh, I hope not.

p.s. there are some random pops in the audio, im not sure why but there was nothing I could do to fix it, so please try to ignore it 🙏🏼

Silco is middle-aged Kaz, and Kaz is teen Silco.

I remember when I first saw Silco and thought, "he reminds me of someone." It took me a moment, and then I was like, "KAZ??" Even Silco's raspy voice, it's literally how I pictured Kaz's voice when I was reading the six of crows series. They both talk in metaphors, always cryptic. Their philosophy is nearly identical. However, Kaz is never a villain, he's an anti-hero. Silco is never an anti-hero, but a villain.

Also their backstories, them describing it as being "reborn", letting their past self die, and taking on a new persona. And the fact that they would throw away their ambitions, everything they built, for that one special person. For Silco, it was Jinx. For Kaz, it was Inej.

I also have been dying to edit to this song. I fell in love with Jadu Heart a while ago and this song instantly became one of my favs

I'm not sure if the beginning makes sense. Because I haven't edited them in a while, I didn't know where to start, and even though I've been wanting so badly to edit to this song, I wasn't quite sure how to work with it either.

Both Ben and Rey crossed paths because of this map to skywalker, and I paralleled it to the sith wayfinder. But because of Rey being on the opposite side of war, both her and Ben clash, but it's a more complicated relationship than just pure enemies. It evolves into something more, and instead of exploring that more, they run out of time because they've spent so much of their time being enemies.

I wish I could articulate all of this in a more poetic way, but I am super braindead :P

Alexa Lexie 2021-06-16 | I usually don't sit through horror movies because I'm a wimp, which is kind of ironic because I tend to write stories that trickle into the horror genre. However, I absolutely love the Conjuring movies. I just love James Wan's directing style and all, I look up to it :))

One of the major things I love about the movies is Ed and Lorraine. I love their partnership, their dynamic. I honestly swoon over their marriage haha. They're marriage goals for me :PP I've juggled with the idea of vidding them, and when the recent conjuring film came out, I decided to do it.

The song was difficult to pick, but when I found this song, it just fit for me. There's an inevitable eerieness in their line of work, but there's also a sweetness that's brought to it because of their relationship, and I feel that this song encompasses both of those feelings.

Alexa Lexie 2021-05-24 | Before anyone hates on this, on me compiling these couples, I am not necessarily saying that these couples are exactly the same, but there are parallels such as the opposites, enemies to lovers/lovers to enemies, as well as the light and dark aspects. I was also iffy about putting zutara and darklina in the same edit, because, with these three couples, zutara is on one side of the spectrum while darklina is on the other, and reylo kind of sits in the middle, between the two. So I tried my best to find some balance with them all, and I hope it worked out okay :))

some thoughts on how I ended this edit, it's like these couples are always apart. There's this reassurance that they aren't alone, that they can understand each other on certain things no one else will understand. It's like destiny that they cross paths, but are never truly together. It's like the quote from atla, "they circle each other in an eternal dance." They will forever revolve around one another, but never truly meet.

I feel proud of this edit but at the same time, I think it sucks :PP

Alexa Lexie 2021-05-10 | I know I’ve edited this song before but I really just felt that it captured the eerie tone of their relationship and their traumatic pasts. I wanted this to be about the demons they face because of their experiences. They somehow find themselves relying on each other, and they really surprise themselves by the lengths they are willing to go for one another, it just shocks them. When Inej kills for Kaz, it's like time stops for a moment. So they now have these newfound feelings, but they also have this trauma, so there’s this open-ended “what will happen to them now?"

I can't get over them honestly. Like I just can't.

I'm not sure what this is. It started out as an aesthetic kind of edit but I'm not sure what it is anymore. I hope that it isn't boring or anything because I feel like it loses some of the tone, that was present in the beginning, towards the end of the edit. It's supposed to feel hushed because a lot of their dynamic is like that. There's a sort of quietness to their relationship. Both have their own armor that they wear, and they both have trauma that they struggle with, so there's this unspoken understanding between them, compassion of sorts.
