Message for the Youtube Atheist Community... existentialstrangers 2010-04-14 | "The fanaticism of the religious should not be attributed to their own "selves" and thus, we should not resort to ad hominem attacks that criticize the character/person. Rather, we should look at the ideas they present, and separate that which has been hounded into them since birth from the person, the other, at least the potential person they could be. The religious in a sense are blind - directly attacking them will solve nothing. It's as if there was a person made blind by someone else at birth/since childhood, and we yell at them for being unable to see reality. They cannot, their vision has been ruined. However, unlike a physical malady, the mind is shapeable and can be transformed through perseverance, through education. In order to radically transform a person or have them question their own (probably fallible) beliefs, we must slowly work to outline the problems related to following any ideological system in a fanatical fashion. This includes the poliitical, religious, logical, scientific, non-scientific, anti-scientific, and so on. Ultimately the argument for one side holding the truth is repulsive and will always be missing a key understanding of life, which is to try to look at it from all angles, to feel it, to not look at it and all, to allow the objective and subjective remain two distinct truths while still believing both of them to be true." - Nina Jankovic (me) --- Also sorry if you hear any banging, there are workers around our neighborhood that have been here for many months and have obviously driven me insane (I mean, just look at my hair, etc). Also, the "blind" metaphor is more meant for atheists to try to understand the religious in a new light. Hopefully I won't be misinterpreted, but whatever. I think most people are blind in some fashion or other, and we should try to reduce our ignorance.

Transhumanism: Part 1/2 existentialstrangers 2010-02-23 | Some thoughts, I watched a bit of the documentary Technocalyps recently. I did talk about how I think ideology cannot be realized fully due to human nature, but I also believe that the sort of perfection it entails or desires might be flawed in itself. Anyways, I would reallyreally appreciate some video responses for this one, or what it would mean to you to move beyond humanity and transcend our current limitations. Is this a bad/good thing? Is this just what's going to happen anyway, and we should go with the flow?
