They just sent me this pre-release quad they are calling the EMAX TinyHawk.Specifications1s brushless ball bearing 8x2.5mm 15000kv motors76mm29g dry / 42g with 450mAh batterycustom 40mm tri blade propsF4 flight controller with BetaFlightOSD3A 4in1 ESC running BLHeli-sBuilt in FrSky rx in D8 mode25mw 37 channel VTX with smart audio600TVL CMOS cameraAll the Tiny Whoop style quads I've seen are true X. The EMAX TinyHawk is the first stretch X whoop I've seen. The polypropylene frame looks beefy and weighs more than the 29g listed but if you look at the underside it's hollowed out. It feels much more high quality than any other whoop style frames I've seen.The most interesting part of the TinyHawk are the motors. The custom 0825 motors are mounted upside down. We'll see if it flies any different.EMAX designed custom props for these motors. The prop covers the entire bell. From a design standpoint it's really smart. This design eliminates the weak point with traditional props where the blade connects to the hub. On these props the blade connects with the entire hub.The EMAX TinyHawk uses a custom F4 flight controller with 3A 4in1 esc and FrSky rx on a AIO board. The VTX is soldered on the board using 4 small stacking pin heads and the camera is connected with a wire. The VTX is equipped with SmartAudio so you can change the channel/band from the OSD.What's interesting is that even though the TinyHawk came as a ready to fly, the AIO board has solder pads where you can connect a RX, buzzer and even motor pads on the ESCs. Maybe in the future they will release this board as a standalone for people to build their own custom quads.Flight PerformanceI only had one battery for the TinyHawk so I didn't get to fly it alot. If the conditions are right it can be easily flown outdoors. The first few batteries I flew on the TinyHawk I didn't like it. But that's because I was flying it like a Tiny Whoop. The TinyHawk is a brushless whoop with some power. Once you learn to use that power that's when the fun starts!It's easily has enough power to fly in acro mode and do simple flips and rolls even inside a garage.One thing I can say for sure is that the TinyHawk is tough! Foreign Object Removal From Finger FlightClub 2020-07-30 | I don't know about you guys but for some reason I love watching foreign object removal videos on YouTube. Last week I was working on my campervan installing insulation. As I was preparing a spot for the spray foam I brushed my hand against a part of the metal that had some welding splatter. It caught my finger and cut it.In the following days I felt a constant pain on the scratch. I thought it was just a scab healing. After the scab healed up it still hurt so I put it under my Andonstar microscope. A lot of people are hacking away the case from a GoPro Session to save weight and strapping them on a Beta75x. A tiny whoop that can record hd footage. BetaFPV listened and made the 85x HD Cinewhoop. After reviewing and editing the video, the results were not as bad as I thought.The overall image was on par with a baseline setup with these exceptions:The AERUM antenna don't have the penetrating power of a patch. Behind hills for buildings, you will probably lose your videoBecause these antennas are circular polarized, they are not designed for long range.I'll be doing more tests in the coming weeks. At about $45 for a Polar P and Polar X, I'd say give it a shot and try for yourself.** 5/14/2019 UPDATE**After using the Aerum X ever since I posted this video (about 2 months), I can recommend the X for the goggle antenna for racing. The performance of the X is on par with my regular Triumph + Patch setup. Not recommended for long range though. The great part of the X on the RapidFire rx is the low profile and never needing to switch between LHCP and RHCP. I found the X works great with both.I haven't not been using the Polar P. Onewheel XR Electric Snowboard : YOU CAN BUY HAPPINESS FlightClub 2019-02-15 | The Onewheel XR is so much freaking fun! The Onewheel is a cross between an electric skateboard and snowboard. It has a motor built into the hub of the go kart tire. There are two versions of the Onewheel, plus and plusXR. They both have the same motor, the difference is the battery. The Plus has a range of about 7 miles and the XR is 12-18 miles.Riding the Onewheel is like snowboarding. Lean left or right to turn and tilt front to go and back to stop. It's like snowboarding on the street.I compared the Onewheel to electric skateboards like the Boosted board, Evolve or a custom built Trampa board. I decided to go with the Onewheel for several reasons. Of the bunch, Onewheels have the best off road capabilities. The electric skateboards use small skate wheels so you really have to watch out for rocks or cracks in the road. They are really only limited to riding on paved roads. They do have "all terrain" wheels but it's not much more than big rollerblade wheels. Onewheels use a pneumatic gokart tire that can roll over rocks and cracks without issue. The electric skateboards can go much faster than a Onewheel, which is fine to me. The 20 - 25 mph top speed on the Onewheel is plenty. The fun is in the curves. Train Gap and Bando Durability Test with the FlightClub Bangkok FlightClub 2018-12-07 | Most of the technical aspects and fitment are good to go on the Bangkok. Now we just need to test the durability of the frame.Watch EnvyAstro rip it up with the Bangkok in the abandoned warehouse and play with a cargo train.There were some nasty crashes on concrete. Good news is the frame made it through with just a few scratches. No carbon, aluminum or electronics broke.Only thing that broke was the Crossfire antenna mount. It's ok cause the mount was something I whipped up really quickly to hold the antenna. Weighing in at only 26g it weighs less than the TinyHawk at 28g which is a 1s whoop. The Mobula weighs less than the 1s TinyHawk but has the power of a 2s whoop. This thing is fast!

You don't have to worry about that with the Bangkok. Everything from the camera to the battery plug has been designed to have a spot.Frames that are too complex are a pain to build and even worse to repair. The Bangkok is designed to be simple, easy to build, easy to do repairs and tough!Features:- 230mm wide x pattern frame- It uses T700 4.5mm carbon fiber chamfered arms with 15mm width in the middle. T700 is the strongest carbon available for quad frames. It's a uni-directional carbon meaning it's stronger in one direction which is what you want for arms. Once we get the prototype and test a bit we may go up to 5mm arms, it will depend on the weight.- Right now for the prototype there will be just one arm option 5" arms but the production version will have more arm options, like 6 and 7"- The motor pattern will fit the newer 16x16 and older 16x19mm motors- 3mm 7050 CNC Nucleus plate with butter mounts for 30x30 and 20x20 components- 8 threaded holes for the arms- One screw arm removal.- Arms are joined in the center so they will be rock solid- The front end will have a 7050 CNC cage that's designed to fit micro and mini cameras. There will be an A and B plate. The plates will be milled out on one side so it can fit a mini or micro camera by just flipping the A and B plates.- Built in hi-def camera mount that will fit the gopro session or hero form factors. - Option for a rear proton gopro session mount for some cool chase footage- Built in XT60 holder, SMA mount and will have rx mounting options also.- 2.5mm bottom plate- Top plate will have about 100mm or 4" of space. Helio Spring Mini - The best 20x20mm FC? FlightClub 2018-11-07 | Say hello to my little friend! The Helio Spring Mini is pretty much a shrunk down version of the Helio Spring. It has all the features of the full size Spring, just in a 20x20mm board. The board I have in this video is a pre-production board so some things may change on the final version.HighlightsDual F3 and F4 processorBetaFlightOSD5 Full UARTSSupports all receivers with multiple 5v and 3.3v outputsUART1 and 2 have inverters for S.Bus and SmartPort telemetrysupports DSHOT and MULTISHOT can be powered directly off the battery up to 6sLC filter on the OSD and camera power outThe Helio Spring Mini was built with the EMAX 35A 4in1 BLHeli32 ESC. The build was super easy as with the full size Spring. Just rearrange the harness so vbat/ground matches and remap the motor outputs. With 5 UARTS to use, you can pretty much connect whatever you want on the board. Crossfire was hooked up to UART5 and SmartAudio on TX3.I tried the latest version firmware which was I think 3.6.2 but it didn't recognize any of my motors. Only got half startup chime and all the motors were greyed out in the motors tab.Since this is a hardware review and not firmware, I went with a firmware I know works, 3.5.1 and everything worked great. All I changed were the rates and left everything on default including PIDs.It flies great! It has the buttery smooth feeling that I love from the full sized Helio Spring. Even on default PIDs there were no signs of any oscillations or prop wash no matter how hard I tried.If you like the Helio Spring, you'll love the Helio Spring Mini. It uses a 120A Lithium ion battery rated for 434 watt hours and has different types of power outputs, 4 5v/6A USB, 12V cigarette plug and 110v AC. On a typical summer day of flying you can plug in a fan to keep you cool, charge all your USB powered devices and charge your LiPo batteries.The Anker Powerhouse has an MSRP of $500 but Anker has sales throughout the year for $150 off. At $350 it's still an expensive purchase but if you compare to the options, it's not that bad.For a full day of flying you'd need at least 10 battery packs. At an average of $30 a pack that's $300. A cheap gas generator will run you at least $300 not including gas. But then you have to lug around a gas can and a stinky generator in your car. Or you can charge your batteries the old school way by using your car battery. It's hot under the hood and you can kill your car battery.The Anker Powerbank isn't only for charging lipo batteries. The BetaFPV Beta75x is a 2s brushless whoop that flies more like a regular mini quad than a traditional tiny whoop.The brushless 1103 11000kv motors on 2s provides more than enough thrust to fly comfortably in acro mode. BetaFPV had issues in the past with motor bells popping off but it looks like the issue has been fixed in these new motors.
