Brooks Range Council The Brooks Range Council (BRC) was formed in the summer of 2012 as it became clear that the Alaska Department of Transportation was rapidly advancing engineering and environmental baseline studies for the road to Ambler. John Gaedeke, the Chairman of the BRC, has multi-generational roots at Iniakuk Lake where his family owns a lodge in the heart of the Brooks Range. John created the grassroots organization to give a voice to the local opposition of the proposed Ambler Road. The Land We Live In works to advocate for the people, landscape, and wildlife that would be directly impacted by the potential development.
