Skyward Sword HD: Complete Ghirahim 3 Escape gymnast86 2022-07-28 | To follow up on the discovery yesterday, today the Skyward Sword speedrunning community collectively figured out how to clip back out of the walls surrounding the final bird statue without any Back in Time! This means that it works in Skyward Sword HD and now saves a little less than 40 minutes in the HD Any% category! The timesave comes from us being able to fight Ghirahim 3 in the boss rush minigame in Hero Mode without ever having to fight him in-game first, thus allowing us access to the end of the game from the boss rush minigame. Skyward Sword: Access the Final Bird Statue Early gymnast86 2022-07-27 | Thanks to a new discovery by YourAverageLink, we can now access the Ghirahim 3 Bird Statue during the boss rush fight! This allows us to skip the Harp and a few long RBMs in the Wii version of the game which should save a few minutes. While this does work on the HD version as well, the HD version will still need some method of getting *out* of the walls that surround the bird statue for it to make use of it. Skyward Sword: Gate of Time Skip w/ Cutscene Wrong Warp gymnast86 2022-03-31 | This is an application of the new Cutscene Wrong Warping technique that Peppernicus recently found. Using what's known as 'Death Trick' (dying in Back in Time, pressing continue, then starting a file within a 2 frame window) we can load cutscenes we normally wouldn't be able to watch yet into Back in Time depending on our file's room and entrance ID, but only for a very brief moment before our file loads itself properly. However, if the cutscene we load is skippable, then we can RBM skipping the cutscene and apply it's effects to our file. For a more detailed explanation, see this page:zeldaspeedruns.com/ss/BiT/bed-trick-death-trick#bed-trick-death-trick-applicationsUnfortunately, this trick doesn't end up saving a whole lot of time in speedruns due to the number of requirements to get it to work, the biggest of which is that we need bombs in order to die in the Sealed Temple to perform Death Trick. This is a 10 minute detour for the Any% speedrun, and combined with other compromises, makes this trick only save a minute or two at best right now.
